I will answer your message but after this, I will answer only on the title subject as this has been dragged way too far off course (and not by me).
Let us take your message bit by bit, and yet again I do apologize if there are spelling mistakes or slight grammatical errors as I say I am not American.
But first let us look at some of your comments, in an earlier massage you clearly stated:-
“You view the United States like only a foreigner can, which is understandable. Do you realize just how vast our land is?”
So you started the subject of size of land. I answered with that I live in a larger country so yes I do.
Then in the next message you state:-
“As an aside, Canada is not a large country. The land itself is more vast than the US, but nearly all of it is empty”
Now I would suggest you re read that and how that sounds, first you talk about the vastness of a country and then completely change it to a problem with how empty it is! You specifically asked me if I realize how vast the country is I answered, if you look at a dictionary I answered about the vastness, how can then you suddenly change and then say that there is no one there it is very empty, what did that have to do with the original question, nothing !
I answered that I had lived in high density population cites in other parts of the world, and to give you an example I gave you a comparison of the density of population.
You then say:-
“Similarly specious is the counterpoint made to my statements about Canada being mostly empty. What is the purpose, other than distraction?”
It seems you change your questions to suit what you want, I say that you change meaning and wording to try and distract, remember you started this bit of the conversation, I only answered.
Next after I told you I was Canadian you bring up the subject of “Snowbirds” now there is no reason to bring this up except either for distraction or to accuse me of being one as I am Canadian, and as stated I am not one, I lived in the USA and I go there for work, or was it just an assumption without knowing me?
Then you say:-
“I apologize if ignorance is the culprit and you really didn't know. But, if you did know the difference, it's unfortunate for you that you sought to correct a person who has probably forgotten more about Las Vegas history than most people have ever known. I fell I love with the weather and the hospitality industry there in my early 20's and became obsessed.”
So here you state that either I am wrong through ignorance, or I should not have challenged you, well on the challenge part, and again you throw in the hospitality industry quote to distract, let me say I have no problem with challenging anyone if I feel I am correct, and from below I will inform you of the things that are correct, if you feel a need to challenge me on these please feel to contact the Las Vegas Historical Society, also you may find another good reference by reading the book Las Vegas a Centennial History by Eugene P Moehring and Michael S Green, which is an award winning book and backed by one of Nevada’s most distinguished historians.
You also mention about the City of Las Vegas please remember the strip is generally classed Las Vegas but it is not the City of Las Vegas, the Hotels intentionally moved outside the city to avoid property taxes, the strip is in Clark County.
You say:-
“The Las Vegas to which you refer was all but a ghost town after the railroad strike and the government diverting attention to war. In fact, you are squishing the history of the whole valley together with the pre-history of the city”
The only prehistory mentioned is “it was originally a green lush valley inhabited by Indians” and this was in your response to an earlier comment of saying.
“When you visited Las Vegas, did it not occur to you even then, standing in the city built by outlaws”
I do not know why you even mentioned (incorrectly) that it was built by outlaws, why are you even going that far back? We were talking about today, you seem to like veering off the subject, or as you call it distraction. You say in this above the city built by Outlaws, the modern city may sometimes be classed as this but you did not say anywhere the modern city you just said “City”
You in your last message have now changed and said
“Everything in that city now is the direct result of criminals”so yet again you either did not express yourself correctly in the first place or have just decided to change the parameters. If you read you originally said
“the city built by outlaws” nothing about the city we know today.
Also do not forget there were 2 main Railroad strikes if you are talking about the one in 1922 which concerned Las Vegas the most, you are correct about it had a terrible effect but in 1922 what war are you referring to, something I do not know ?
In fact you mention:-
“The people you're talking about founded the Old Spanish Trail, not the city of Las Vegas”
No, the Old Spanish Trail, was possibly found by the Spanish and or local Indians, and there are reports of them being used hundreds of years before Las Vegas was called Las Vegas but it was a group of trails and not all connected, in fact there were a few routes on what was called the Old Spanish Trail, the name was given to Las Vegas by a scout using the trails to find the best route to Los Angeles, a route that was the shortest and able to provide water, they have very good records of this and maps in the Nevada State Museum & Historical Society and even if you just use Google you can see maps of the Old Spanish Trail, it is not known who found this and these routes. There are academic papers but unless you have passwords or subscriptions you cannot see them but you can very easily search for this info on Google about Las Vegas. You seem to think that I am wrong about the dates that Las Vegas was named and confused about the Spanish Trails, I am not you should see.

But then you say:-
“
But, if you did know the difference, it's unfortunate for you that you sought to correct a person who has probably forgotten more about Las Vegas history than most people have ever known.”
Where if you read any history book on the region you will see that what I have said is correct, please just at least do the basic and search and you will see the things I have put are correct.
Above I have proved my answers and that everything that I have said about Las Vegas is correct, so all I can do to you is repeat you quote of
“I apologize if ignorance is the culprit and you really didn't know”
As I mentioned earlier, this has gone way too far off track and not by me, and I will no longer respond to anything but about the title subject, I just thought I would defend and prove my statements this is too much like work, I come here to enjoy myself.
