Swim Trunk Length

So I wanted to buy 14" speedo volley trunks from kohls website but all but xxl in all colors were out of stock, so had to pay more on speedos website. Are shorter trunks becoming more popular finally? Board shorts look weird and too much fabric for swimming imo.

Fourteen inches for swimming is shorter?
My shorts for walking to the beach are 5" and that's too much fabric for comfortable swimming.
This is my usual suit for public pools and my beach and hotel pool swimsuits have even less side fabric.

Compared to the board shorts the average joe has worn for along time in the U.S. for summer beach time etc they are quite shorter.

Yes, they are FINALLY shortening up, it seemed. Started last summer in the US and seems to have picked up steam. Guys look so STUPID in below-the-knee shorts. geez. Why call them SHORTS? lol
