Well I guess I have to admit I like showing off a bit. But I like to do it without drawing too much attention to myself. I know that may sound like a contradiction.

I can't deny I get a little thrill out of packing around in public a larger-than-average unit wrapped legally in only a bit of nylon. I don't have an outstandingly shaped body type so I suspect the extra attention and conversation women seem to focus on me at the pool comes for some other reason. ;D It sure does tickle my ego a bit. But for me a boundary gets crossed if I get into revealing too much anatomical detail...like what happened when I cut out the liner. I have a thing for clothes including bathing suits, so I have several kinds. However, I'm not an exhibitionist. I prefer to look great fully clothed than try to impress with flesh, so I've gone through many styles trying to find something that fits my "modesty".

I have a really nice sort of cross between a box cut and hip brief - it drew too much attention as did my pseudo string bikini brief. So I went for a long board short but it sucks tight to my body when getting out of the water. I finally lucked into a standard short by Speedo. The liner is tremendously roomy and gives ample support while the exterior short is even roomier so reveals nothing. They are my favorite for the beach or pool parties. In privacy, though, I'll wear any of the others or nothing at all.

Actually, my biggest problem with attention is my body. I'm in killer shape 'cause it feels good to be so healthy, but I avoid exposure to strangers because I just don't care for the stares and comments.

Okay, my turn, I guess. I was on my high school swim team, and the good ol' Speedo was the required apparel for official meets (or in some cases, 'meats' ). During first week of practice, my coach called me into his office. It was kind of funny watching him struggle to keep from saying anything inappropriate, but what it boiled down to was that we needed to work on finding something to keep me more decentle concealed. No way a standard Speedo in my waist size could keep Thumper properly contained. The solution turned out to be simple: a Speedo too sizes too large in the waist. The sides were taken in to fit, and everything was covered. Sure there was still a bulge, but everyone has a bulge in a Speedo. The problem was not the bulge; it was that the guy downstairs had kept peeking out! A little needle and thread action and the problem was solved.

2big, I agree. Though in fact there are many of us here who are not exhibitionistic at all, and there is plenty of practical stuff on this site if you look for it, not aimed at showing off, but just at ways of dealing with the size you have and its plusses and minuses.

I like the balance in what you say, and after a lot of trial and error I decided that whatever I am wearing comfort (i.e. support and room) has to come before appearance, even at the risk of being fairly obvious. That doesn't mean showing off has ever been high on my scale of priorities.

Slingshot: Unlike a lot of people who've posted so far on this thread, my main concern when swimming is to not "stand out" at all. Public swimming pools in Australia are very family orientated, and I DON'T want to exhibit myself in front of children - plus, kids will often comment out loud about things that adults would not...

I agree, to an extent. But I think there is a big difference between merely showing a bulge (which most of us here I imagine have no choice about) and wearing gear which shows every part of your equipment separately outlined in detailed relief, so people can see all too clearly exactly how you position yourself. It's one thing not to be able entirely to hide the fact that you are well endowed, even if you would want to hide it. But I for one have found it very uncomfortable when everything is so obvious. And not a little humiliating. For instance, I don't want other people to be aware, even before I am, of a stirring down there; as far as possible I like to keep my feelings to myself.

I wear swim shorts when I can, and a very generous square cut pair of trunks when I can't (e.g. where shorts are banned, as in most of Europe.)

Real concern about this is a matter of distant history in my case; to be accompanied by a wife and three children is about the best formula for invisibility (phallic and otherwise) there could be. And once you are old enough for the children to have vanished completely no-one is going to look anyway.
