I was talking to a frenchman online, and we had a pretty decent philosophical conversation (at least, I think). I'm posting the relevant parts of it to see what LPSG thinks.

It should be noted that he's French (again), and his english isn't perfect. I've corrected a bunch of spelling errors. The conversation started after he mentioned something about looking for the meaning of life on a web page.

And that's as far as it's gone so far. What do you think?

Hm, sounds fun. My ideas on originality revolve around the fact that any thought that goes through out heads now has probably been around for generations, and nothing is really new, it's just repeated over and over now.

A new song is just an old idea.

    Nevermind me! :D

But how you use it is what makes it original.

Originality will always be possible because there are technological and cultural advances which weren't always available that make new things open to us.

It's like the way you're wearing women's clothes, men have always worn women's clothes, but viewed in the context of their social surroundings the effect they achieve with them was totally different from the effect you achieve by wearing yours because transvestitism is viewed differently now.

I'm personally a fan of some of Squarepusher's stuff, so he's an exception. *ninja eyes*
