I hope I didn't post a thread about this before. I think I've made more threads in the past week than I have since I started posting here. Oh well, I guess it's my turn to be a BIG GIANT ATTENTION WHORE.

    Anyway...

I want a tattoo. I never wanted one until I got pregnant when it suddenly seemed like one of those things I really wanted to do. Obviously, I couldn't get it done when I was pregnant and have been coming up black on the design for a long time anyway, so I've never seriously pursued it.

Mr. Snoozan isn't really thrilled with the idea. He loves my skin and doesn't want to see it marked. However, being the sweetheart that he is, he'll never tell me I can't do it, and like other things that I've done before, he'll eventually come to like it at least a little bit.

I have a tentative design which I'm attaching to this post, and would love feedback on it, as well as any ideas for size/placement. I could also add things to it.I don't know that I want anything really intricate or with color since color seems to really fade.

Also, is there anyone out there that has a tattoo that hates it, or anyone that's had one removed? The thing that's always worried me is that I'll hate it after a few years, which is why I made the design simple and meaningful.

    Any ideas/ feedback?

I hate to say this but I always feel it's a mistake to have a name, you never know what the future will bring, sorry to be negative on this. I'm editing to add this, if it's your child's name that's different.

    It is.

Having said that, I have always found that any tattoo can be nice, provided it is not huge. Perhaps on the small of your back.

I'd suggest waiting. Tattoos are currently a fad. That makes them seem more attractive, but unlike other items (like clothing or jewelry) when they go out of style you can't quit wearing them. Yes, there are laser removal techniques now, but I'd check on how expensive and painful they are before getting the tattoo.

I have seven tattoos, and don't regret a single one. As long as it's meaningful to you, it will probably be the same. I agree with the name thing though... the only name I have on my body is my sons name. That will never change, ya know? He'll always be my son.

It is my son's name. I know a name is somewhat cliche, however, I am in love wih type as part of my artwork, so it seemed natural to use it for a tattoo. It is also my maternal family's last name-- the maiden name of my grandmother, now 85, who has been my biggest fan my entire life and is now enjoying every second of being Mammy (what my son calls her).

Seven? I hear they are addicting. I got away from the piercings a couple years ago and I hope I can limit the tattoos only because I have kinda grown out of some of my piercings, but they are much less permanent so that's been okay.

Oh. Oh dear. On the plus side, I'd have an excuse for never shaving or getting a bikini wax again...

That's a good point about removal. They are trendy, and were even moreso I think a few years ago when I was in college, and I was able to resist. I have been thinking about this for about 3 years, but since it is permanent, waiting more can't really hurt.

I'd like to get one, but I don't wanna get one with a GF's name, 'cause i we split up, then I got a tat I'm trying to get erased. I'd rather get one with my children's names--when I have children.

I think it's a great idea and I love the script. I tried to get a close up of mine in a photo but it's too blurry.
