They should bullshit hyperbole on the internet. A penny per post and the budget would be balanced tomorrow.

The bottom line is taxes support our life styles. The tax rates in the USA are astonishingly low compared to most 1st world countries. Norway has very high income tax but no one goes without health care, university, elderly care. You need to pay if you want a good standard of living. Obviously there is always lots of governement waste but that's another issue. I met a waitress in Utah who had given up teaching because she made more money waiting on tables. What kind of society pays their teachers so little?

Tax rates, as well as food, shelter and fuel costs are low in the US when measured as percentage of income. Only those who live outside the US or travel extensively understand this.

Unfortunately, despite these advantages, Americans insist on even lower tax rates, and lower costs for food, shelter and fuel. At the same time, our health care as measured by mortality rates slips behind other developed nations. And yes, partly because we pay our teachers less than most other developed nations, our educational system and our scholastic performance ranks behind those other countries.

To say that a large percentage of Americans take for granted the bounty they have would be gross understatement. Yesterday, I was at the supermarket and I heard two people complaining about a recent increase in milk prices... this was while they were sipping on a $3.50 latte from the in-store Starbucks. I walked away amused with the irony.

The current bickering over taxes is just another example of the myopic 'herd mentality' that infects American political discourse.

Ok that is just a huge load of crap for a huge precentage of Americans. Unless you live in a large city, it is nearly impossible to do much of anything without a car. I live in a relatively small area (~150k) and I have no other choice but to own a car. There is no real public transport. If I have to buy groceries, I have at least a 2 mile drive to get there. My job is 12 miles away, and its not like I can walk to work (multiple 4-8 lane highways that are far from pedrestian friendly).

Necessity forces most to own a car.

No, it really doesn't. You chose to live in that small area therefore your feeling of being forced to buy a car has been your own doing.

Why do you keep calling me a hypocrit? Is it because I'm not down on my knees eating the bullshit spewing forth from your ass?

I keep calling you a hypocrite because you are one. You continue to call me out for punctuation/grammar errors when your posts are littered with them.

If you have such a problem with some of the laws/oridinances we have to obey, then by all means hire a lawyer and take your bitching to the Supreme Court. Do something about it instead of being a whiny turd goblin. That is all

Why would I do something about it when something is already being done about it? Multiple states have already filed cases against the government. Even my own state will be taking the federal govt to court. Stop being ignorant.

Then why the fuck did you bring it up?

I didn't. If you look, the only thing I brought up was that Obama has already raised taxes on the middle class and the poor. Never once in this thread have I engaged in a debate or discussed whether all people should have health insurance or not. That was just you doing that.

You have to be very arrogant, if not completely unaware of a person's situation to come up with such an ignorant conclusion.

No, it wasn't. I was giving reasoning behind raising taxes, penalties, what have you, on the middle class.

Nobody can force a free American citizen to live anywhere. You have a choice, especially if you have the financial resources to buy and drive a car.

Indeed. But economic realities being what they are, sometimes someone is de facto forced into living somewhere where a car is required.

Your location says DC. 1) DC is not a state 2) DC is not challenging the law
I live in Northern Virginia, very close to DC. I just put DC because people know where that is instead of my actual hometown which isn't as well known. And I spend a ton of time in DC and live there some days so it's like my second home.

Ah, I guessed as much. Virginia's state leadership right now- governor, AG...shouldn't be taken as indicative of the national mood. Both are Republicans who have ambitions for higher office- which can't be achieved without sucking up a little bit to the right wing/Tea Baggers

Oh, my bad. I skimmed it.

Do you drive there?
Drive to the metro. Train takes me into the city.

Right- you have a choice to be homeless I suppose. Real nice choice there

Yeah, but then you won't have to pay car insurance lol. So obviously paying for your car insurance would be the better option in this scenario, right?

Ah- but the metro is subsidized with taxpayer dollars!

Right, so either get a car, pay insurance, OR be homeless. *sigh*

Your rabid belligerence to maintain your beliefs prevent you from viewing reality. When someone is born poor and into a cycle of societal and generational poverty, they DON'T have the same access to choices even if they are "free". I'm not saying this about unabear09 as I don't know his situation, but you really have NO IDEA what you're talking about. The fact that you would associate car ownership to financial stability is also laughable, especially when you consider that many people who do go homeless wind out living out of them.

Stop while you're already behind.
