Taylor Zakhar Perez seems to be being forced back into a closet, whether or not he was in or out of it, by all the Trolls on the Internet trying to disect every aspect of his life. So much so that for his own sanity, and to, presumably protect friends and family, he's shutting down his social media so people can't interact with him of see who he follows. It's really sad. It's also pathetic that people, who say they are fans, rip apart a person in this way. Let the guy have a personal life and share what he wants when he wants. He doesn't owe anyone anything extra.

People will automatically click the one follower and see it’s Alex and boom advertises movie, since he’s not allowed to do any promotion. None of his other social medias are “shutting down” and he all comments about G on his IG for example are still up

His post definitely had a bitter edge to it, but I see truth in what he said. It's very obvious that gay actors who are more flamboyant or not "traditionally" masculine are not given these gay roles, even when they are talented enough. "Masculinity" and being "straight-passing" as a gay actor, even an openly gay one, help them get roles because society still places that macho persona on a pedestal, regardless of how much we claim we don't care. I'm sure Taylor enjoys his privacy as a gay man and doesn't want to be public about his relationship. Still, to say he also isn't secretive about his sexuality for PR reasons would be foolish. Straight men do not want to see gay leading men (due to homophobia), straight women do not want to see gay leading men (they desire that parasocial relationship), and ironically, many gay men would prefer a "masculine" straight leading man over a slightly flamboyant gay one, because gay men often idealize masculinity. Just observe how popular gay-for-pay porn is and how 90% of the early Sean Cody pornstars were straight macho men. On one hand, it's easy to shame closeted actors and straight men for taking gay roles but not discussing anything gay-related in real life or on their platforms. On the other hand, it really boils down to supply and demand. If society, including women and gay men, were more supportive of feminine/flamboyant openly gay men, Hollywood would invest in and cast them.

Again, business before justice. Money before ethics. They would be racist if their was demand for it.

There is no amount of social engineering and anti homophobia campaigns you can do that will undo how women are biologically evolved to be attracted towards masculine men with protective traits that signals healthy genetic offspring. And because homosexual men and heterosexual women share similarities in the amygdala region of the brain both are cued towards the same traits despite gay men having no biological desire to bear children.

Being a leading man in storytelling requires more than having an audience that’s open to new concepts while being free of bigotry. It’s simply about how we are wired. If the audience knows the LEADING man in the film is gay and OUT in his personal life you cannot expect them to suspend that amount of disbelief in order to get into the story. Sure, we’re required to suspend disbelief when watching superhero/sci-fi films but romantic comedies and dramas based on real life is different.

And those gay porn studios you mentioned such as Sean Cody and Corbin Fisher weren’t successful because of internalized homophobia but more so because of the reasons mentioned above.

I would have to write a separate post to address your statement of what heterosexual men prefer to see in film & storytelling. It can get complicated but it has less to do with homophobia or bigotry than you might think.
