^I was just going to say... that's the thing people forget; that this election was only good for few months anyways... If anything, the Dems were successful in suckering the reps into wasting tons of money on a seat that will net them ZERO power in the HoR in the interim, and they likely won't be able to hang onto the seat long term either. (the Dems ended advertising there weeks ago, and saved themselves money for the November campaign)

Of course, if the Reps are even remotely smart, they will let Djou vote however he pleases between now and November. Looking like a 'maverick' is his best hope to be re-elected... If the Reps try to make him follow the party line, Hawaiians will boot him, big time. (they probably will anyways)

Charles Diou's Wikipedia bio paints a picture of a rather doctrinaire socially conservative Republican, with nothing to suggest that he's a Teabagger. A check of both his campaign website and his Council member website confirm this impression.

If he espouses Teabaggery it's only in the most stealthy dog-whistle kinda way.
