Though the passing of Teddy was expected based on his diagnosis, the example he set in his time of public service was exceptional. Nobody including Teddy himself could ever explain how Mary Jo and a 1967 Oldsmobile Delmont 88 ended up in a river. Like many, I question that episode as well. However, when I take that incident and compare it with his efforts towards helping the common man throughout his political career, one would tend to wonder about the true things that happened.
Teddy was born into a family of incredible wealth and power. Of the 4 Brothers, Teddy was always the most considerate of, and the one who fought hardest for the common man. His continued representation of the people of Massachusetts in the United States Senate, winning election and re-election again and again. He is living proof of a large number of people who were satisfied and had confidence in their representation.
Teddy was also the hardest worker when it came to creating unification in thought and reaching across party lines to work with those with ideals he philospophically opposed. This makes him an extremely wise and hard working individual. Ultra Liberal individuals disliked Ted because he was good at creating a meeting of minds with members of the Republican Party. Ultra Conservatives hated him for the same reason. He was able to reach to those whom would at least listen to an alternative point of view.
Rest in Peace Teddy, I may not have always agreed with you, but nobody worked harder to earn my respect than you did. You have truly earned a peaceful eternal rest.
