Fox news, hardly his support group noted his name was on 535 bills between 1973 and 2009, including family leave act, MLK holiday, the disability act. He was critical in the passage of the 64 civil rights act.

There are many more, but I am too tired, I will post them tomorrow.

when you die asshole, you will be remembered for about 5 minutes, he will be remembered for 200 years.
200 years? Are you kidding?

Without using google I want you to tell me who Richard Russell was and three things that he did.

You have to know that the name Ted Kennedy dies with everyone who knows it right now. Despite being a long time senator, he wasn't at the center of some dramatic change; it just wasn't in the cards.

It's difficult to understand/comprehend how anyone can carry a banner for this guy, regardless of political affiliation. If you really think he accomplished anything, you must be a relative/nephew, something. Be that as it may, sorry bout your loss.

While Kennedy managed to swim free, she was trapped inside. Shamefully, inexplicably, Kennedy did not raise the alarm. He waited until the next day before contacting the cops.

Mary Jo is believed to have survived for some time in an air bubble. She could have been saved?

But Kennedy was more concerned about saving his own reputation. For hours he did nothing.

Ah, he walked back to the party...drank for a few more hours, then went back to the hotel and 'crashed.' What a guy. Oh, he called his dad the next day to see what to do.

Top notch. Luvs me summa this guy.

Called his dad the crook? How appropriate.

Surely, you saw my earlier post on how Teddy liked to joke about drowning that girl.

Kennedy will be remembered for many things including the hundreds of bills he introduced, many of which were passed. One of his last bills sponsored was/is The Matthew Shepard Hate Crime Prevention Act. It adds to the Hate Crime Act bill of 1969 with inclusions on gender and/or race.

Kennedy will be long remembered for his tireless, endless work to bring health care to all, to bring education to all. His name will be in the history books for all time, the same as the names of his brothers John and Robert. All three contributed greatly to this Nation-have you?

Without using google I want you to tell me who Richard Russell was and three things that he did.
I did not need to use Google (or any other search engine)

Are you speaking of Richard Russell the scum who was a several times over Senator from Georgia? The same Richard Russell who was on The Warren Commission? The one who was a Freemason? The bigoted bastard who gave this statement/quote:
"As one who was born and reared in the atmosphere of the Old South, with six generations of my forebears now resting beneath Southern soil, I am willing to go as far and make as great a sacrifice to preserve and insure white supremacy in the social, economic, and political life of our state as any man who lives within her borders."? That, Richard Russell?

Wrong you are. He was at the center of many dramatic changes. He was a part of Civil Rights legislation, health care, workers rights...the list is endless. And contrary to your belief that the 'name will die with anyone who knows it right now', it will be remembered. Do you think people thought Socrates would have been remembered all these years later? When one makes an impact; as Senator Kennedy did, it is remembered and revalidated for time in memorium.

I don't know.

He doesn't stand out. There are far too many senators for one to be remembered above all others. Clinton, Obama, and McCain will all eclipse him. History loves it's heroes to be in compartments; success without a lot of other people taking credit. Especially, people 10x his stature. He was in his first term when the civ rights act passed, and a lot of other people can take more credit than he can. Lyndon Johnson (a name kids will learn in school) believed the civ act to be his legacy, same goes for every other senator or congressman that voted for it. Not only that a lot of people hated Ted *points at self*.

On top of that Kennedy died of old age, a sure strike against a legacy. Legends die early, or disappear while they are still great. Reagan is an excellent example. When he started to deteriorate he went into hiding. Of course, there are too many dead Kennedy's for kids to remember another one.

One thing is for certain, everyone will remember that he drowned a girl in his car. A lot like Lewinsky. People love scandals.

I'll make you a deal. In a few years I will ask my nieces and nephews who Ted Kennedy was. If I get anything other than a blank stare I'll come back to this thread and apologize profusely.

Oh, good job remembing that quote verbatim without looking it up, btw.

Ted Kennedy was a champion of forward-thinking causes when many others were stuck in their own intertia--integration, health care reform, women's liberties. I hope that they eventually honor him with something named in his memory.

Who cares? He killed Mary Jo Kopechne and got out of it because he's from a very wealthy family. He doesn't deserve shit.
