Yes,I have a few close friends and plenty of family I can count on for support. What makes it more difficult is the fact that I have been divorced for about a year now and this has been my first "serious" realtionship since my marriage ended.I didn't want to meet another psycho woman similar to my ex wife, but it seems I only attract these type of ladies.
She was the rebound and now it is time to dunk her. Go out and enjoy yourself, don't look for love yet.

I'm always leary of people being blamed for attracting a certain type as if that person deserved. Let's look at it from the other direction. What can/should Max Factor do when this type of behavior occurs?

I have noticed that I attract a certain type of guy that I don't like. I've identified a couple of red flags so that I can get out sooner. But I don't see what I can do to change myself to avoid them.

who is blaming him?

you said it yourself, YOU need to learn to see the signs, YOU need to learn to listen to them, YOU need the courage to walk.

it's something he'll learn just fine.

Wow.

I have always believed that the "job" of a significant-other is to build up and support his/her "other."

This girl seems to be hell-bent on tearing you down and re-making you into her own image.

Find someone SUPPORTIVE for goodness sake.

Let her go and find someone who shares her obsession with perfection.

And as you mention, spend some time focusing on the type of woman you DO want.

If all you think about is the type of woman you DON'T want, guess what? That's all that you will "attract." For some odd reason, we tend to "pull in" what our attention is on.

So get yourself a really clear idea of the kind of girl you want in as much detail as possible, and stop worrying about the wrong kinds of girls. Really THINK about the good ones: what are they like, where are you likely to find them, what activities do they do, their hobbies, likes, dislikes, etc. Really TUNE in on it.

Then you will most likely find that kind of girl.

good man!

just don't be swayed by any tears, apologies, promises or threats.

The most key statement. A friend of mine keeps falling into a terrible relationship with a girl because she sheds tears, apologizes, and makes promises to change whenever he tries to get away and he falls and ends up paying for it physically and emotionally.

Dude, for your own sake do not walk RUN! The last thing you want to do is get involved with an abusive, controlling BITCH who is trying to mold you into whatever her image of an ideal guy is.

OMG I dated this chick when I was in college who was like that with the exception of the physical abuse. She was constantly putting me down. She would tell me how I should dress, how I should cut my hair, that I needed to get braces, needed to work out more, etc, etc.

Then one day...she actually showed me a picture of a dude in the Christmas 1999 Abercrombie and Fitch Quarterly and said " You know if you got braces, went to the dermatologist, and worked out more you would look EXACTLY like him and he is SOOOOO FINE!"

I thought yeah, and you are a shallow bitch too. That dude probably doesn't doesn't have perfect teeth, perfect skin, and a perfect six pack in real life either. Bruce Weber took a pic of a handsome guy, and made him look "SOOOOOO FINE" using Photoshop.

I dumped her shortly after that because I decided I liked guys who looked like Abercrombie models too!

So,I've been seeing this chick for about 3 months now and we get along well. However, she has this teeth obsession.

Everytime I open my mouth to talk or smile, she makes a comment about the condition of my teeth. Now,I practice good oral hygiene and take care of myself but I don't have a perfect smile and she has to remind me about this constantly and is always asking me about my next dental visit and what I need done etc.She has perfect pearly whites and talks constantly about teeth and how I need to improve my smile etc etc.

A few hours ago she told me I need braces because they are not perfectly staright and that we must go to the denist tmr.

It may sound stupid but it is making me paranoid to the point that I am afraid to open my mouth in her presence and am thinking about ending this relationship because of this.

uh...yeah? What if, gasp, you don't have like something else perfect!? Geesh, she sounds very, very artificial. I'd be paranoid too!

if you been with her 1 year now.. man its just a girl take control over the relationship. if shes talking about you teeth, ask if she can get her breast done for you. flip the script, be alot more self centred and dont be scared of acting out.
