As I am a Northern Michigan redneck or ' BUBBA' we have the problem of the deer wasting disease. That there is no real proof of. There have been no proven cases other then what or state dept. has conjured up. We cannot bait deer because of the wasting. But the same deer can eat our bails of hay that are stored outside during the winter, or eat out of the same fields that have been harvested of grains without any problems. Alais, this is Michigan we have our own governMENTAL problems.
But the Bubba comment is off base. I am a redneck who did learn firearms at an early age. Yes I went through a wild time of being an equal opportunity wildlife control population specialist. Offensive to some? or most? Well that same knowledge of firearms carried over to the U.S.M.C. and It helped me to become a better Bubba so to speak. Define a professional hunter? A wealthy man that buys his tags, his guide, let a paid Bubba set the hunt up, the shot up and takes the pictures after?
These professional hunters 90% of dont even know more then the basics of the weapon there are shooting. like the round chambers here. the trigger is pulled there and the bullet comes out here. The people of the united states would be very uncomfortable with so called professional hunters defending them. So, my question as a Marine that drinks farts cusses and most the time still pisses off his front porch. Who owns a small arsenal of weaponery that includes a 50 caliber BMG that can hit a target mansize or hogsized out to a thousand yards and do it without a giude pictures or someone holding my hand does that me me a 'BUBBA' or a professional hunter? Would that make me a professional hunter? lol I know on active duty in the field it did. The ignorance and fear of todays society is mostly based on the lies of the media. They only print or report a tenth of the real story. They put more spin or over report on anything that will scare or fire the people up into beleiving that the proverbial SKY IS FALLING as chicken little says. Lance Crp. redneck. U.S.M.C.

Hunting from a chopper takes decidedly far less skill than hunting on the ground.

I don't respect it. It's rather pathetic.

Reminds me of these places that set up guns with webcams on them and strap an animal down in front of the gun so you can "hunt" over the Internet.

What about panthers? Some brain donor thought it would be a good idea to re-introduce panthers to the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge in Georgia. As y'all know panthers are smart and can read signs and would never dream of venturing out of their designated area.

I'm inclined to think they'd rather missed the mark on this one, if you ask me. Quite uninspired i'd say.

Should've established a state wide roDEo, with divisional tournaments in different regions of the state. could've had prizes for the biggest number of kills, heftiests hogs, photo-ops...

They have a life as well as we do, and have equal rights to live on this planet. Just because we plant tastey crops in their natural environment, they being hungry will do anything to get to food. Just like you or I, if we were that desperate. Typical of the human species, I am superiour and I have all the rights over nature. It is my right to dmagage and destroy the homeostasis of the planet so long as I AM HAPPY. It is our selfish attitude and behavour that has caused all thie imbalance in the world.

Before you quickly jump to answer particularly if my reply has touch a raw nerve, Just stop and think why have I reacted in this way to nothing but words on a screen in front of me. Who am I to disagree by doing so you have agreed with everything writen in this post

I think you're a little confused. The pigs aren't in any "natural environment." They don't naturally come from Texas. They are exotic invaders and they are wreaking havoc on natural ecosystems. This is not the same as what that moron up in Alaska does. Still: hunting seasons DO NOT control populations - they encourage them.

The pigs need to be exterminated or otherwise removed. That's the only way to return things back to anything close to a state of homeostasis.

Your heart is in the right place Smartalk, but you need to know a little more about the subject matter. Not every creature we think of as "wild" is truly so. Many of them are where they are because of idiotic stupid activities. Though they aren't where they are through any fault of their own, to leave them put can cause serious problems for animals/plants that ARE supposed to be there.
