I appreciate all who have taken the time to post here in the Politics Forum.
I want to thank all those who have selected "like" for the posts I have made here at LPSG Politics Forum. You are special to me.

The Politics Forum has become an important part of my life. I appreciate the different posts and posters, even those with whom I disagree.

Reading posts from people with different viewpoints has lead me to reexamine by viewpoint. Most of the time I become even more convinced I am right.

Often, there is a small change in my view point. There have been cases where there has been a major revision of my viewpoint on subjects.

Mostly I have had my knowledge and understanding of the world greatly enhanced reading posts from all around the world.

There is no way I could ever do the research that would be needed for me to read so much of what I have read here.

There is such a very significant number of posters who back up what they write with sources.

Of course I like the posts of those who agree with me more than I like the posts that disagree with me. This is human nature.

Here at Politics Forum:

I get to read credible sources from all around the world that are written in English.

I get to read other posters editorials.

I get to be an editorialist which I really love doing.

I get to have my mind made more active.

I get to organize, and reorganize posts.

I get to look over and delete non-essential stuff in a post. ( I am still learning how to do this!)

I get to develop friendships in a way that are different from the physical world.

I get to be awed by the knowledge and writing of other people.

I get to exercise my brain. Just as our physical bodies need exercise so does our brains if we want to stay mentally sharp.

I suspect I have left out a few "I get" that are important to me.

This thread will go to page two and on down quickly. Hopefully there is no controversy here that keeps posters posting.

This is the best way I know how to speak to everyone who has become friends.

One philosophy I have come to really believe is that the present is the time to say thanks. There is no guarantee that we can say thanks in the future.

I have had some very serious health scares this past year. It looks like I have won on keeping good health at least for the foreseeable future.

I hope and plan to be around for many more years. However, no one has this as a guarantee.

Again thanks to all who make Politics Forum a great place to be!

Thanks for sharing this, @Freddie53!

After some time of absence, I pretty much re-joined the Politics Forum following George Floyd's murder by Cops, back in May, 2020, and the COVID-19 crisis, in the need to do so, and participate in it.

I have been meaning to make a similar "Thank you" post here, since the November 2020 election, but held off during Trump's bogus election fraud claims fracas, and then again after the January 6th mob attack on the U.S Capitol building, and then yet again after Biden's inauguration, waiting for things to somewhat settle down.

My post though, would be a BIG thank you to the sane, the reasonable, and especially to the well-read, politically progressive members here, that so often eloquently post about current events, almost always backed up with links to irrefutable sources and actual facts!

I have been hemming and hawing about doing so, and whether or not to name the names of contributors that were inspirational, and amazingly informational, but backed off knowing for certain that I would forget to mention a few names and therefore hurt some feelings.

So I will just say, "You know who you are!"

Thank you, to you all, for helping keep me sane, grounded, alert, focused, and informed during what feels like it was the most difficult and insane year of politics in my lifetime.

Thank YOU!

Same here, A.B. Freddie must be psychic because "honest Abe," the day before, I was just thinking of saying something like it in the Why You Like Politics Forum thread, but didn't for the same reason you mentioned... I'd want to name names and would prolly forget to mention someone. So GREAT THREAD @Freddie53 .

At the very least, the best big dick politics forum on the net! Bar none.

Frankly I believe that as a body of work, QUITE possibly the ONLY politics forum OF ITS KIND on the internet.

Thanks A/B. I too had thought about doing this and had hesitated for a variety of reasons.

For you it was a fear of leaving someone out.

For me it was a fear that I would leave some good reasons out of my thank you.

I agree with everything you said as it just amplifies what I was trying to convey.

There is no way for me to improve what you wrote. Thank you for writing it. Words I love, but most likely would leave out are underlined.

I very much agree with the unlined words, but those not underlined are words and phrases that I have used such as reasonable, progressive and facts are just as true.

"... the most difficult and insane year of politics in my lifetime." A/B.

Yes for me as well. In some ways this may have been the most difficult and insane year of the American Republic since the end of the Civil War.

The American Republic has had some trying times in wars and in the Depression, but the loyalty to the republic was still united even during the Vietnam War. Most of the Vietnam War protestors were loyal to the US Constitution and to the virtues of democracy.

Now the greatest threat to the republic is from within. This is very scary times when people from within want to overthrow our Republic and install a fascist regime and have 1/4 of the population in agreement. Never thought it possible until now.

I have found solace here at this Political Forum Politics!

And to A/B. I am finding that you and I play as a team without any prior plans to do so. Often, one of us posts something while the other then backs it up with additional information or even a different angle.

Or, if one of us has something a bit wrong, the other fixes it and then gets a like from the other for doing so.

I too did leave lpsg for a time only to come back.

The total number of credible sources people bring here is outstanding. Many posters take time to glean the good articles to bring here. There is no way for any one person to by him/herself come up with the canon of great articles from reputable authors that we have here at lpsg.

(Is there now a better alternative for him/herself? I don't really like itself used to refer to a person. However, if that is the best norm to follow I would use it.)

I wish this Politics forum had been here when I was in university! I could have used some of these sources!

Not sure how I would have explained how I found the sources, but I suspect I could have worked that out before the professor asked.

I would not have put lpsg.press!
