Because it isn't, because the WP in 2016 is not the WP of 1972-74.. Because Woodward and Bernstein are not working there..because it's not a real story..it's an accusation,
Because Wikileaks has in the past affiliated itself with media outlets in the past, they chose not to this time because Assange correctly presumed that media outlets are persuaded to lean one way or the other..The US media got pissed off and now we're witnessing another get Assange orgy
If it was business as usual as before when he would release bits and pieces to the NYT and WO, the tables would be turned the othe way and the focus would be deflected..
Hell man, they missed a scoop and they're trying to make him pay..essentially giving him more publicity, sensationalizing yellow journalism style Randolph Hearst and "REMEMBER THE MAINE, TO HELL WITH SPAIN!"

And wtf does any of THAT have to do with "the price of tea" in... WHEREVER is beyond me.

Bottom line is we've had a Watergate-like electronic "break-in" of the DNC's server, by WHOMEVER, who in turn timed the release of the ill-gotten gain, and for quite OBVIOUS reasons and intent.

And instead of talking about the implications of such an intrusion, and the obvious intent by WHOMEVER to manipulate and influence this election, as WELL as American politics in general, we have people arguing in defense of the culprits and attacking those whose emails were published... using the bullshit logic that those emails shouldn't have existed in the first place.

Fucking ridiculous, imo.

Let's be clear, yes, it does manipulate the outcome of the election in Clinton's favor since she is the victim.
Let's be clear, yes, the implications of such an intrusion..Well, #1 WAR if Hillary wins, most likely..with people like you behind her 100% because the USA can hack their asses off who ever they want, but when someone hacks the USA, well that means WAR. Another reason for WAR..
Has Iran or Russia hacked the USA in retaliation for the Stuxnet virus? Yes.,
Why isn't the WP or the NYT talking about it ? NSA told them not to..National Security and all that, don't ya know? Nobody wants to take the blame/credit..remember.,blame/frame/shame

Yes, you go with you watergate-like narrative ..

Like I said earlier...

I GUESS the way it works Sargon is that there are "good" hackers and "bad" hackers, "good hacks" and "bad hacks", depending on one's OWN perspective as to who's DOING the hacking, and who is BEING hacked.

Yeah... that must be it.

Apparently you only have a problem with SOME hacks.

It's bigger than that... you are only reacting to what you can wrap your mind around and that's based on what you know.

The concept of OPENNESS and FREEDOM OF INFORMATION are serious topics and are at the crux of what hacktivism is all about.

What Assange is doing is a constructive form of anarchic disobedience. Anarchy doesn't mean chaotic, like most people have been taught, it simply means "self rule or self government". What Guccifer 2.0 is doing is hacktivism.

Assange's political motivation is to keep government's open. He didn't publish GOP information or emails because nobody sent them to him... Assange doesn't do any hacking, he's just an aggregator that developed an electronically anonymous way of uploading information to his well maintained database.

The DNC completely left their cyber door unlocked... I don't know if it was deliberate to invite hackers or it was out of sheer incompetence... we'll probably never know that.

Trust me... if the GOP kept their cyber door unlocked, hackers would have hacked into it and Assange would have published the information if it was sent to Wikileaks.

The fact that you think that Wikileaks has targeted Clinton is just off base because you don't have the facts and maybe are just sort of "out of the loop" when it comes to: electronic activism, hacktivism, the concept of openness and the freedom of information.

Nobody is targeting anybody... the DNC completely dropped the ball and to blame it on a state government is just ludicrous.

Russia doesn't fucking want Trump elected... they don't want Clinton elected either... the truth is that the "powers" that run this country will not allow Trump to take a more conciliatory tone with Russia... rapprochement is not in the cards.

I mean... as much as I love Russia... why do you think I'm voting for Hillary? I'm voting for her because Trump has no fucking idea what he is talking about. He's gonna do this and he's gonna do that... he's like a goddamn child. He will turn his back on Russia in a fucking second. Russia knows this... they are not stupid... they are CHESS PLAYERS... they have DEEP understandings of American dynamics and American systems of power.

So, just take a deep breath... realize that Hillary can still beat Trump... the convention was going to be a mess... the CLinton campaign waged a dirty campaign and a divided convention was inevitable as a result. She could have waged an above the board and honest campaign that wasn't dedicated to opposition research and seeking to smear her opponent instead of beating him fair and square.

The DNC acted like total biased assholes the entire fucking time and to be honest with you... the Bernie people are waaaay more pissed off at the DNC than they are at the Hillary campaign.

That's why I have no problem voting for Hillary. Elections are about winning and if she wants to "play hard" that's allowable in the rules of political elections. I'm not angry with her... she seems like a really cool baby boomer lady. I actually have affection for her.

But the DNC fuuuuucked up... they should have been impartial and they weren't. the emails they wrote NEEDED TO BE SEEN BY THE PUBLIC... THEY NEEDED TO BE EXPOSED FOR THE WORLD TO SEE... I firmly believe that.

She's not going to get a bounce from the convention because it was a chaotic event. That is ALL on the DNC, they completely did this to themselves. Blaming Russia is like doubling down on being immature and not accepting responsibility for their own colossal mistakes. How they are going to walk this back down, I have no idea... this has whipped partisan Democrats into a war frenzy and they are thirsty for blood. Hopefully they can calm down in time to look like adults to the rest of the country.

Independents and swing voters are all aghast at this childish deflection of blame... conservatives know they are lying... this is making the Democrats look really bad. They need to drop this as soon as possible or it will be an albatross around their necks.

Unless... they are going to use this as another false pretext for war and could use the media that's in their pocket to exacerbate the false accusations into a giant lie that they have to take "all the way" because they find themselves in way too deep. This is my greatest fear.

Bottom line is, I believe in OPEN GOVERNMENT and you and your liberal flunkies don't... therein lies the problem.

Really? Aside from acknowledging many countries engage in it, show me where I've ever APPROVED of it.
Have you ever heard of Wendy Wright, the creationist? As she was interviewing Richard Dawkins, she kept asking, show me the evidence, show me the evidence!.. Hehe,,heh,,heh,,
Sorry, just shaking your pedestal..keep your balance there, bubba..

Yes, you go with you watergate-like narrative ..

"Yes, you go with you watergate-like narrative ."

Apparently I'm not the only one thinking along those lines:

The DNC Hack Is Watergate, but Worse. The email dump isn’t a high-minded act of transparency. It’s a foreign power attempting to swing an election for its favored candidate.

Fucking irresponsible article full of reckless false accusations... Slate has really jumped the shark with this one.

It's full of shit down to almost every word except where they state that RT operates "in the open".

The extent to which the United States tries to influence Russian elections was fucking ridiculously represented by the "Voice of America"... which doesn't come close to the 100 million dollars that's spent trying to undermine Russia's government.

It's childish news for childish adults who have seen too many movies.

Tuesday was a much better day than Monday for the Democrat's Convention. The democratic party is coming together. As the day progressed there was no one booing the mere mention of the candidate's name..... Because the Bernie delegates weren't in the damn room. As long as you ignore the huge chunk of delegates that stormed out of the hall after the roll call at the beginning of the days event and were then locked out of the building then it was a great day.

If people marched out of the RNC convention protesting the party's candidate pick, the media would have talked about nothing else for the rest of the week. No no no. Last night was just awesome hearing about how Bill met Hill and everyone in the hall cheered if you were watching CNN or MSNBC. FOXNEWS barely mentioned the walk out. Even my local news stations said nothing about the it. Only CSPAN and online Tube sites had any real coverage on it.

If you believe yesterday was a good day for the Clinton campaign, you are delusional.

I agree. It is very very bad for the clinton campaign. Thats not all though, it's bad for democrats in general. And any party trying to usurp them. The bernie or bust group is single handedly making sure republicans are leveled with democrats come november and beyond. Instead of it being a blowout one way or the other it will be a knock down drag out fight the whole way there. Against a candidate who shouldn't even be running. It's just more logs on the fire against clinton and in effect against democrats in general.

Oh man are history books gonna have a field day with this one. :p I don't even like sarah silverman's brand of comedy but well...shes right this is just ridiculous.

It wasn't shown by the Media because it was absolutely insignificant. There are 4,051 delegates at the DNC. "Dozens of Bernie Sanders delegates walked out of the Democratic National Convention Tuesday night following Hillary Clinton's nomination for president, and many promised to leave the political party in protest."

Dozens!!!!!!!!
