Oh wow, Prince has a huge place in my heart! Yeah, he's lost his touch for trendsetting, gone nutty with the religion thing, and is probably too isolated in a rich-man's life to make relevant, hungry music anymore, but he's done more jaw-droppingly incredible work over the years than most anyone else, so he has my undying love and respect for that alone (even if recent albums are pale shadows of his former greatness).
His songs aren't all about sex (though I daresay few do that type of thing better) though it might seem that way to the casual listener who only heard the radio tracks. He really has put together some breathtakingly raw and emotional stuff over the years.
"Sign O' the Times" is a hybrid masterpiece--hands down his best work, in my opinion, and, as a double album (anyone under thirty-five even know what that used to mean  ), it has room to delve into diverse territories with a great set of songs. "If I Was Your Girlfriend" was years before its time, musically and especially lyrically.
(I agree, TAG, about "I Love U In Me." Great lyrics. Had an embarrassing experience involving that song last summer: pulling a late night on campus and thought I was the only one left in the building, so I was doing paperwork and singing along with the music I was playing, and yeah, the rest of the story kinda tells itself. )
The cool-to-crap ratio has gotten pretty slim over the past few years, but there are at least a few real gems on every one of his albums. When it's bad, it's disappointing, but when it's good, it's freakin' incredible.
And, really, if you see him live, all is forgiven.
