OK so it was discussed that maybe it would be helpful if people began posts with a simple "Women only.." or "Men only" to which the response was "Youre a dumbass, just read the forum name"

If you look at the moderator actions it's FULL of warnings about posting in the wrong section. People continue to do it. I've done it like 3 times and been banned form the men's forums. I know many others are too.

There is a post in Ask A Woman right now with not 1, 2 3, but 4 men replying!!

Aren't the mods tired of policing this?? A really simple fix would just be to have a pop up before you post, or something..anything..

I assure you we are intelligent beings. It's not just stupid people. No matter how careful a person tries to be it's really easy to post in the wrong section accidentally. I don't know why this is...it just is

It would be nice if there was some kind of reminder or preface in place so that we dont have to constantly slap people on the wrist.

At least the ban is restricted to the particular forum, and not the entire site. Rob_E once said the pop-ups were to be planned, but many others projects will take precedence. I already asked to be banned from "Ask a Women" to stay out of trouble. Besides, who wants to read something for which he/she is not allowed a response?

I have mistakenly posted in the ask a women a few times. I pay more attention to the sub forum now before I submit my reply

I understand that sometimes it can be tricky and we post in the wrong section. I almost made that mistake but noticed it within the allowed time to edit. I know this comment should be in the suggestion box, but since daisy started this thread i might as well post here. So i think it would be less confusing if the background color identified a specific forum.

I like slapping people on the wrists, or ass. Mostly the ass.

You don't say, me too. :spank: and i have the cuffs too. :biggrin1:

The Ask section has been around long enough to where, all but those new to the site, should understand there are rules and consequences regarding posting in the sub-sections. For those who make a one off mistake, a warning should help them catch on. For those who continue to post in the wrong forum despite heads up and progressive warnings? Fuck them, everyone else has to read and go by the rules, no need to add more reminders when they're already ignoring the obvious.

That said as someone who doesn't believe a separate Ask section was even remotely necessary.

Background colour would be good. Pink for girls?

Not even going to hazard what colour the other Askas might be!

Even without knowing there are consequences, it should be common sense that you shouldn't answer if you don't fill in the blank in "Ask a ______."

Yes but most people search forums by "new" not the forum name. How dumb do you think people are?

My point is that even if you know the rules it's easy to slip up and post in the wrong area. Again..I dont know why this is, but if it is, and its a problem why not just make it simple. Not because they should or because they have to, but because it would be a courtesy.

Odd thing is I have never made the mistake. I read the posts, consider at times responding, even having gotten to the thread by clicking on the link to the right in Latest Threads or Latest Posts. When filling in the response box I look up at the top and see where I am posting. For example as I fill this in I see::

LPSG>Main>Et Cetera>The "Ask a ________" forums.

After a response I take a look at the response then click on the "New" at the top and when I see that, I again get a chance, the 3rd chance, to make sure I did not post in a forum I am not allowed to post in.

It seems to me that if a person has been reprimanded more than once, and more than twice, that they'd be able to take that small amount of energy and make sure they aren't going against the current rules and regulations.

In real life situations making mistakes can lead to all kinds of problems including loss of home, job, personal possessions and at times even life (incorrect medication given, error in surgery etc.) and there aren't always second or third chances.

Didn't you get banned for a minute?

Not that I know of. The most I got was a warning because I had questioned the validity of someone's picture as whether it was really them or not.
The PM said it was a 'heads up'. It was done in July in response to a post made in late March.
The precise wording (from July 18,2012):

Hoss - heads up, harassment/calling out fake on the board

http://www.lpsg.com/165598-moderator-actions-5.html

another poster received the same sanction on that thread, however another in the thread got nothing. It's the lack of consistency in these things which is most troubling. If a thread takes any member to task for a rule violation then all within that thread should be treated the same way.

Spot on, I concur. I, like many many posters here, primarily search the threads with the "New" tab and the forum names are displayed at the end of the line which is not normally noticed when you are thread searching. So consequently I've posted on the women's only forum - and have received nasty petty moderator messages and have been banned from that forum.

It's silly and a big waste of time to punish people here when there is no clear exclusionary tag or labels on threads they should not post on.

The system in place now preventing guys for posting on women only threads IS NOT WORKING. And for the most part it's no fault of the posters. I doubt it is intentional. Just poor website design. It's like getting pissed off at guys going into the ladies restroom and not having a legible sign on the door. Duh.

I agree, but as we are stuck with it maybe an 'Ask A Dumbass' section can be added.Let them self-identify and give them special dispensation in exchange for us pointing and laughing at them.
