Watch The Bachelor TV Show - ABC.com
Subjectively, the best moments in this three-hour reality series premiere occur in the first thirty-seconds when bachelor Peter Weber steps out of the hanger doors at Sun Air in Camarillo, California. The Sun is low on the horizon and Peter is silhouetted as he climbs on to a sporty homebuilt aircraft. Dramatic strains of orchestral music with French horns, enriched bass and high brass swell as if Tom Cruise were about to take flight in a F/A-18 Hornet in the upcoming movie Top Gun II. Instead, it's only our heroic junior first officer embarking on another turbulent aeronautical journey filled with plenty of sex tears and affairs of the heart.
Peter's trusty 1955 Piper PA-23 Apache (N1305P) is along for this flight, as well as his crying parents in Westlake Village and a bevy of wailing women. If this initial three-hour premier endurance flight was any indication I'll need all my will power to soldier through. Yet I must!
P.S. You can fast-forward to the madcap first group date where the chosen women were given aviation I.Q. tests to judge their air worthiness to accompany Peter aloft in his ancient light-twin. Some of the questions? To join the Mile-High Club, how high is a (statue) mile? And what does the terminology "Suck-Squeeze-Bang-Blow" refer to? Well they never did explain that one but it's slang for the four cycles in a jet engine. Oh boy.
Come-on, climb aboard gang!
