OMFG I CAN'T BELIEVE IT! This makes me sick.

"Stodghill filed a wrongful death suit against the hospital and its owners, Catholic Health Initiatives. He was stunned in court to hear the Catholic hospital’s defense — that his twins didn’t count as people.

While a glaring contradiction to Catholic Church teachings — which says life begins at conception – the hospital reasoned that, since they weren’t born, they weren’t people. Therefore, the twins could not qualify as victims in the wrongful death suit."

In my neighborhood, a cross dressing priest was dealing meth, and having sex in the rectory. He owned an X rated business on the side, though that's in another article.
I guess we get so used to abuse in the Catholic Church that it hardly registers on the meter anymore, but the story you posted is so hypocritical that it shocks even me.
That's why my money goes in the poor box, and very little goes in the collection basket.
Don't want it used for legal defense, for pedophiles, and things such as the article you posted.

I stopped giving money to the church when the priest told me i was going to burn in hell when i was 13 years old.

The thing that saddens me is that I am catholic, and I deeply believe in god but the church is an organization with it's own mafia and it's own book of laws. Wherever the are in the world the answer to no one because "god deemed it so" it makes me sick and there are times that i wish we could abolish all types of religion for the sake of science and education.

It'll have been the lawyers who came up with this bit of nonsense - from the churches point of view - to limit the possible liabilities in this case; it won't change a thing when it comes to the dogma spouted about conception in general.

yeah but you would think the Church would stick to their beliefs even when faced with a lawsuit.

Many in the Protestant tradition insist on saying the ROMAN Catholic Church, or even the Roman Church. This is more than just a fashion - it reflects the view that the RC Church is not Catholic. Catholic means universal and suggests open and inclusive. Christian catholic belief has to be inclusive, ecumenical, even inclusive of faiths other than Christianity.

The RC Church has the idea that there is a body of RC church teaching on moral questions which ultimately derives its authority from church councils and a pope infallible on matters of doctrine. I suppose it is coherent, but there is a circularity - the RC church is right because the RC church says it is right. The justification is the idea of the Petrine succession, that the pope is the successor to Peter, and Christ gave Peter the keys to heaven and hell. The problem with the RC position is that abuses really do strike at the heart of the structures of that Church.

This a very strange case. I know in a very intimate way what happens to someone who has had a pulmonary embolism, basically a blood clot that lands in the lungs. It just happens terrribly fast and is usually life-threatening and is terribly painful. I'm not sure how he built his case that the hospital was responsible for her death and the fetuses. It's true anyone can sue anyone. That's part of the deal in our society, but a gamble/lawsuit can go either way. Maybe it came down to the fact that the twins weren't saved to be premee babies... again things sometimes just end as a tragedy...

Dont know why you wonder...

As mutch as i got it, the catholic church was always PRO abortion, not?

In germany catholic two hospitals refused to treat an abused and raped women, cause they feared she would ask for pill that protects her from pregnancy past sex.

Past the latest children sex scandal, the catholic church promissed to investigate and to be as transparent as possible. As the hired company for this job refused to allowe any changes of their report, by the church. The church quits the contract.

A german bishop made his trips to africa only first class. He has spend 6 million euro for his new house, build by the church.

Every company in germany, owned by the church pays below the minimum income. While it isnt allowed to their employees to strike. If you are an employee and you get devorced you get fired (with a bit of luck you just have to move into the next city). If your open gay, anyway... On the other hand they protect everyone who does with kids what shouldnt be done

Thats catholic morality
