Ha! Complete with clips from the best scenes:

The General

Nearly anything by Harold Lloyd

Monty Python and the Holy Grail

Airplane!

The Women

The Philadelphia Story

Bringing Up Baby

Dinner At Eight (believe it or not, the woman on the right was the highest paid actor in Hollywood when she made this movie. The woman on the left is the original Blonde Bombshell, Jean Harlow, still stunning.)

Planes, Trains, and Automobiles (this scene had me on the floor of the theater laughing so hard I threw up)

His Girl Friday

The Thin Man series

My Man Godfrey

There's Something About Mary

Being There

Mr. Hulot's Holiday

9 to 5

Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House

The Pink Panther and The Return of the Pink Panther

Ghostbusters

I usually say that my favorite comedies are older Mel Brooks (Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, The Producers) and ZAZ (Airplane, The Naked Gun)...

Others I like:

Hairspray (the original; haven't seen the remake yet but it actually looked good in the previews)

Silent comedies (especially Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, and Harold Lloyd)

Mae West movies (because I just love her! She was way ahead of her time, and love her quotes!)

Pink Panther movies

There are many others as well...

Porky's wasn't really funny. I saw that movie with my parents at the movie theater. I think my dad wanted to see that one. My mom doesn't have a sense of humor...and it really seemed like one of the movies my Dad's friends talked him into seeing.

I liked the movie. I just didn't find it funny.

A lot of the movies mentioned so far - more the older ones a la Brooks and Python - never did find Sandler funny... I'm surprised not to see Zoolander though, that movie is funny as fuck! I can tell, because I laughed even more the 2nd time.

My favourite funny movie though is Dark Star (IMDB). One of John Carpenter's earliest efforts - it's a sci-fi flick and really low budget (their pet alien is a giant painted beachball with feet stuck on) - this adds to the humour.

The premise is a deep space mission destroying unstable planets in colonisable star systems - the 4 man crew are, understandably, quite mad. Then one of their intelligent bombs malfunctions.

"Don't give me any of that intelligent life crap, just give me something I can blow up" is one of my favourite lines from the movie :biggrin1:

What? No one mentioned Galaxy Quest, the wonderful Star Trek spoof with Tim Allen as the self-centered captain who steals the stage (and chews the scenery) at the sci-fi conventions?

NCbear (who loved watching the ship back out of the docking area, scraping its side the whole way :biggrin1:, and who also loved watching Sigourney Weaver act like a bimbo, which she so obviously isn't )
