I’m a big guy, I’ve got muscular legs, decent sized balls and softie (understatement ;)) so I usually show a significant bulge, no matter what I wear. I’m not embarrassed by it, while I never flaunt it I think it’s pretty natural and not obscene. Recently though, at work a friend called me out on the visible penis outline he could see. I don’t know exactly how to avoid it, I’m wearing formal tight suits at work so... my take is: apparently if you bulge is okay, but if one can distinguish your vpl than it’s suddenly not.

I've had this actual conversation with a previous boss. He is hung like a horse and always showed, I never wear underwear and always managed to show an outline in my suit. We got to discussing it (and some issues that were popping up around the office). It was decided that we both needed a bit more support. So, when wearing a suit I'd wear briefs. Hated them, not comfortable for my bulge, but I was able to find spandex ones that offered support and give. He also had to switch from boxers to briefs that had a 'basket' so that his didn't snake down his leg. I think we both agreed - you can't avoid a bulge, but you can avoid the outline, and in a professional sense, you have to consider the latter.

Briefs, or boxer briefs? Boxer briefs tend to allow for a VPL, in my opinion and experience, whereas briefs keep you high and tight (with a bulge). Though I guess if you're already keeping the monster contained, maybe the solution is people need to stop staring ;)

A VPL I guess is when you can sre the exact shape of the dick and how long it is. A bulge dhows how much you pack but doesn't show too much details on your size etc. I always show a big bulge but I feel very discomforttable when I have VPL

The type of underwear that we wear is a factor with the resulting bulge or VPL.

Freeballing or wearing boxers - VPL
Boxerbriefs - could be either bulge or VPL depending on how snug the boxerbriefs are
Briefs - usually show a bulge and not VPL

When boxers became popular years ago, I was in college. I couldn't help notice the many guys who sported VPL in their pants and shorts - especially gym shorts and sweatpants. To be honest, I thought it was great that they were okay with walking around campus with their dicks visibly flopping. I had to get in on the fun. Eventually, the comfort of boxers won me over and I quit wearing briefs.

I think "some" people might think of the vpl as obscene because it basically reveals the shape of your penis through your clothes and can be a distraction. Some people might say that vpls can be avoided by the type of underwear that you choose to wear but that's not always the case the fault lies in the fabric thickness of the undergarments and the pants. I think if someone were to make an issue about seeing a vpl they need to have that argument with the people that manufactured the clothes and not the person that the vpl belongs to. A bulge on the other hand genetic as it is mostly the size and mass and how it sits within the undergarments and pants. Granted a lot of men's undergarments are specifically designed to make the bulge more prominent based on the pouch design, I don't think that should be an issue anymore than women that sport pushup bras to make their breasts more prominent.
