take an art history course. you have to learn to appreciate it before it becomes truly interesting. art has the entire history of humanity captured in images. don't close yourself off from art-- it has so much to offer than just a picture over your sofa or a stodgy museum.

    I like finger painting...

I wont turn myself off to it.. but it bores me. Maybe it's an age thing, or maybe it's just an appreciation for beautiful things that I lack. I look at scenery pictures and think they are beautiful. I look at the mona lisa, and shake my head that something that plain can be so popular.

I feel the same way about the Mona Lisa. It doesn't do much for me. In fact, I didn't learn to appreciate painting at all until I had to spend a year doing it myself. I learned to appreciate what these old masters were actually doing once I had to do it myself.

There are a lot more painters out there that are doing things you'd be more interested in, and so many other disciplines. Photography comes to mind. The 20th century has ushered in a lot of really cool, interesting things in art. A lot of people think of art as being just old, stodgy paintings they can't relate to. But there's so much more out there, and eventually you may come back to the old stodgy paintings and like them.

    That's a beautiful compilation, sk_bum.
Watched it twice in a row.
The morphing of one image into another is wonderful.
    Thanks for posting it.

Didn't quite go full Cubist or full Surrealist on us.

    Probably for the best.

For my favorite take on the fairer sex, I need only look to the late Alberto Vargas.

They just stole the content from another page and put it in video form. Very well produced, though, as I thought when I first saw it (it was featured on youtube a little while back).

My wife and I were watching "Snapped" the other night (oh, the things one must do when married) and they were profiling the case of Sandra Murphy, who was convicted and then later acquitted in the murder of her boyfriend (casino boss) Ted Binion.

In one segment, they showed footage from a videotape she had made the day after his death...she had returned to their home and found numerous things missing. At one point, she's talking about things she intends to take and says, "...can leave that, but I'm keeping the Vargas."

The shot zooms in on her standing in front of the painting Memories of Olive. Mrs, HG and I looked at each other, then at the print on our living room wall, and said, "Well, now we know who has the original!"
