Yep after Trump expect a further acceleration of the decline of organized religion. Church leaders have aligned themselves with the most corrupt and cruel man ever to occupy the White House and many will not turn a blind eye no matter. They will see the utter bullshit of the "imperfect man" line. It's all about power and Trump has given them power and influence they always wanted but never had to this degree before. And they are punch drunk on that power.

And don't forget your "financial giving goals"!!

A special message from Pastor Paul... - International Church of Las Vegas (ICLV)

The most hilarious part is that you're right. It is a promise of power. Of influence. Something they never at any point actually lost to anyone else to begin with. When it comes to the christian church they've always had more influence than any other religion not just in america but in places like the uk. In those two countries they outnumber, out influence, out finance and so on everything and everyone else. They literally have the influence to convince the poorest of individuals in both places to get them their last. To sit back in luxury while those people starve to death. Having laws on the books that help them and only them over long periods of time. With zero actual competition.

And that along with them playing the victim constantly is the only reason they do indeed lose any power or influence at all. It's like having 30 christians beating the ever loving snot out of a muslim/trans person/person of color/woman then when someone says that's not fair 25 of those christians shout back that they agree...adding they should have weapons instead of their bare hands.

They don't even realize that thats why they're losing people. That thats why less and less people are christians. That they aren't losing people because someone else is making them look bad. That they're losing people because they make themselves look bad.

Bending government to their will is the goal.

The obsession with fetuses continues unabated. This pleases them immensely the fact that Trump is working hard to destroy the very planet these fetuses will live in is irrelevant. For example:

A recent Trump administration decision to limit funding of research that uses fetal tissue is already disrupting research into major diseases, including AIDS, Down syndrome and diabetes, scientists say.

The war against science and rational thought being waged by the current administration should strike terror into the hearts of every American. Science, unlike religion, does not require your simultaneous belief and suspension of reality. Gravity exists whether you opt in or opt out.

Evangelicals Love Donald Trump for Many Reasons, But One of Them Is Especially Terrifying – Mother Jones

"On many levels, Donald Trump’s self-created crisis in Iran seems to have no relationship to any sort of coherent foreign policy or geopolitical plan for the future. The assassination has yielded few if any tangible rewards for the US.

But there is an eager constituency for Trump’s improvised policy toward the Middle East and Iran in particular: the evangelical Christians who see it as a means of ushering in the return of Christ.

Lured by the promise of conservative Supreme Court justices, anti-abortion measures, and a commitment to Christian supremacy under the guise of religious freedom, white evangelicals voted for Trump in higher numbers than any other group—more than 80 percent.

One of the many reasons the world views the US as the biggest threat to world peace. A religious fanatic with over 6000 nuclear warheads in the inventory and a desire to spread/force its religion and economic ideas on any nation that doesn't have nukes. Do note the US leaves nations with nukes pretty much alone. So it's no wonder North Korea and Iran have their collective foots on the gas to get them.

The Religious Right has really gained traction since the birth of the Tea Party movement. They're on a roll now with all these religious extremists around Donald Trump. They want the Supreme Court to be made up of nine 1950-esque Baptist preachers (They might allow one anti-abortion, Mary-worshiping Catholic priest, or possibly an ultra-orthodox Jewish rabbi in order to prepare for the 2nd Coming). They want no environmental regulations on God's beautiful planet. And they want to force all women to give birth....or else prison time for the mother and the abortion-performing doctor (Remember Donald Trump said women who have abortions should go to prison). Until it's all said and done, rich people won't pay any taxes -- only the poor and middle class (just like Jesus would want). Don't forget, either, that the LGTB community will be silenced by the courts and the gay marriage law will be reversed. And the list goes on and on....

Allowing a small minority of Americans (15-20%, if that) rule the majority? Who would ever think possible in America? Our electoral college system is why.

Trump will just get even bolder once acquitted next week. Democrat senator Mazie Hirono said Trump is now a king. The next few months....put your seat belts on. It's going to be one-scary-of-a-ride. Americans better wake up. This isn't funny any more (it never was, but you get my point). Trump sends chills down my spine.

Sounds like isis to me. It's funny. Over the years on other sites i've been comparing christians directly to isis for a while now. Saying the only difference between america and the worst parts of the middle east is both the rule of law and liberal influence.

And they have been for the past few years been ripping both down brick by steady brick. With most christians supporting it either loudly or with their continued silence.

We all know from history that once you give religious extremists an inch, they go a mile.

I don't like to say it, but, yes, the Religious Right in America - and no matter how "off" it might sound now - has the potential to turn into a terrorist-like, authoritarian group. No doubt about it. We must always be vigilant. It can happen very quickly. People on the right have always used religion to usurp power and then force their will on all the populace.

I don't like to say it either. Out of all the groups in existence. You'd think religious people who literally have very good things in the things they say they ascribe to would be close enough to those good things to figure it out. And no matter how much i want to give them the benefit of doubt.

I know i can't.

No only have they not earned it. But a good 90% piss it away on a daily basis. And do so in the most aggressive ways imaginable. Sometimes. All they have to do. Is NOT do something to make a positive difference in the world.

Like NOT voting for politicians who want to harm others.
Not repeating something that will send members of the lgbtq community in a depressive tailspin.
Not attack others for their non-belief.
Not put massive amounts of effort into supporting the worst of the worst.
And so on.

Some of the time they can't even NOT be active toward making the world a worse place.

So yeah, i get the feeling. I don't like to say it either.

Although possessing a limited I.Q. and a shocking lack of geopolitical knowledge of the world, Donald Trump's modus operandi can be traced back to his ruthless personal lawyer as a young man, Roy Cohn. Roy Cohn taught Donald Trump early in life that if he played ball with and didn't cross-up the Jewish power structure and hitched his wagon to everything they held dear-- particularly Israel-- he could be a success in life.

Consequently, once he became President he moved the U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem and gave Benjamin Netanyahu the go-ahead to pave-over the West Bank until it looks like the L.A. basin. Trump has no religious convictions, morals or beliefs other than maintaining power as P.O.T.U.S. And to that end he will grovel to his bosses in Israel and use Evangelical conservative voters (who he probably thinks are Biblical fools) to win in November.

Mississippi's controversial six-week abortion ban struck down by federal judge panel

[ "A ban at six weeks of pregnancy means many of our patients would lose their right to have an abortion before they even know they're pregnant," said Shannon Brewer, director of Jackson Women's Health Organization, the state's only abortion provider. "Most of our patients are past that point. Some have spent weeks saving money for the procedure and have driven hundreds of miles to reach us." ]

To the RR, it's all about power over.
