The jigsaw work looks OK, but why not a long flat-head screw at the top side (to keep it smooth) instead of just a long piece of thread stock with nuts on both ends. A couple of flat washers would make adjustment easier, but maybe they're there. And I'd have chosen Plexiglas rather than wood ... splinters, ouch. But it may have been what was in his collection ...

All great suggestions. I'm agreeing it was all from the garage... But since we have the time now...
Instead of wing nuts, use trimmed down versions of toggle bolts for quick adjustments... Maybe polished CRS for the plates? More weight and all...

Love the "cocked" friction lock scheme ... s stroke of genius! If only I had a welding (and bending jig, too) setup, I'd copy the design! Maybe add a little neoprene foam tubing to the rings for cushioning ...

Why did you add a shackle ? As a spacer ? Good job !
The eyelet is to big and my balls kept slipping through.
Ive found new rings that fit just right and might make a new bottom eyelet with a grub screw.
Sometimes if you tap it right it loosen up 20201208_154630.jpg

I got the one below on ebay for just under $20. A recent search there turned up one that was nearly the same but $150!

Were you able to start out at that much stretch? Or is this after some weights and such?

That was my first try with this toy, but, I have stretched my sack for years, so it was easy.
