It's a good reminder to take care of yourself!

exactly!

examples that come to mind are Cary Grant (compare him in "Gunga Din" to his last years -- a different type of attractiveness in both cases, but attractiveness, nonetheless), Robert "Bob" Cummings, and that sandy-haired fellow who played "Tarzan" in the television series -- decades later, I believe, he still had a hot bod, albeit with solid gray hair

Aging gives you the right to just not give a fuck anymore... Be a couch potatoe, eat pasta and ice cream all day, dont moisturize. You've earned it, FUCK IT !!!!

The Other JJ - I love you and your attitude. Great philosopher!

Wow, i found the Val Kilmer pic the most saddening. I used to have a mega crush on him.

and here is his 'Top Gun" costar, Kelly "Justin Beiber Lesbian Hair' McGillis

In all fairness, i have seen a few younger actors/actresses who look rode hard and hung up wet without makeup and airbrushing. This topic is depressing...im going to eat a grapefruit :frown1:

alot of you are fucking assholes. we all get older and it gets harder to stay in shape.
if I was as successful as 99% of those hollywood guys , I wouldnt give a shit at 65 or 70+ yrs. Life is too short to worry about your looks all the time, stop judging people on the outside, beauty fades, WE ARE ALL GETTING OLDER....give them a break.

if you stay out of the sun as much as possible and use skin creme every day and laugh alot and take life with a grain of salt and do not make your life revolve around a job because it is not worth it to have stress which causes winkles lines and such.

I personally am 52 and for the most part look pretty good if I was to wash away the gray which I aint doing.

They're all men who are no longer in the years of their youth. They've had great careers, fame, and fortune...seen things most of us can only dream of. Now, like the rest of us, they are getting older....and there is no shame in that.

I think about Yul Brynner (sp?).....

He was a great looking guy until his grave. He's one of the few that actually got more sexy the older he got.

Some of the older guys (not these pictured in this thread) I find much more interesting than guys around my own age. Sophistication, experience, maturity, being a gentleman, etc., all go with age. Not all men achieve this...some are assholes until the day they die, but some grow better with age!

There's a cruelty to this thread that saddens me tremendously.

I agree, but only to a certain extent. Some of these people have battled major illness, such as cancer and alcoholism. That can greatly age anyone.

On the other hand, when one becomes a celebrity, especially a celebrity who relies heavily on their looks, they know the game. They know that aging is a sin in Hollywood, and if they can't stand the heat then they should have stayed out of the chicken.

On that note, Roger Ebert is a celeb who can stand the heat. He always said that he wasn't pretty, so his dramatic change of appearance in the past few years hasn't seemed to affect him much. His article in Esquire was very touching; he wasn't being brave, he was just wasn't taking looks too seriously. His bravery came from fighting the disease with courage and knowing his limits: he could have had reconstructive surgery, but decided that it wasn't worth it.

I recently ran into a very old and dear friend of mine that I haven't seen in over 7 years. She was so very complimentary. She told me I look younger now than I did when we were living closer to each other and could see each other more often than every few years. I am much grayer, wider and a bit heavier now than I was then. (I wouldn't call myself fat...more barrel-chested.) Outer looks fade and society is cruel to what doesn't fit what we see in the media. But what I think she saw was the wisdom and confidence that comes to some/most of us with experience showing through.

For gay men seeing these pics is like Nora Desmond looking into the mirror in Sunset Boulevard. The ugly truth of the future is staring them in the face. They know they will be discarded by the younger, beautiful crowd at the first sign of a wrinkle or ounce of fat on their waists! What a sad bunch of fuckheads.
