The Human Variation project is an art blog designed to discover and celebrate the beauty inherent in diverse human bodies. The project is based on the simple premise that every body is beautiful by virtue of being human, and that every body has a basic aesthetic value that should be celebrated and appreciated.

How do I submit?

All submissions should be e-mailed to humanvariation@gmail.com for posting. Please read the entirety of this page before submitting. By submitting photos, you agree to have them posted to this blog and affirm that you are over eighteen years of age.

Who may submit?

Anyone! The Human Variation project is committed to celebrating human diversity. We welcome people of all ages, shapes, sizes, genders, and races. In particular we want to extend a special invitation to all those marginalized by contemporary beauty culture: people of color, disabled people, transgender people, people with scars, pregnant women, people with tattoos and body modifications, fat people, little people... all are encouraged to participate, including those who happen to fit contemporary standards of beauty as well.

What is required?

The minimum requirements to contribute to the project are:

  • One full-frontal nude photo from toes to neck, neutral pose — think "body mugshot"
  • Photo(s) must be at least 800 pixels tall or larger

That is all!

However, if you would like to include more you may. Faces are welcome, but not required in the interest of privacy. You are encouraged to include additional angles — side and back — though the neutral pose should be maintained in all photos. Setting and lighting are entirely up to you; however, photos may be cropped after submission to remove distractions. Remember, the goal of the Human Variation project is to find the beauty inherent in the human body, not through the body's surroundings and context. Basic photo clean-up of levels may be done after submission, but no actual manipulation of the subject will be performed.

Note that while the posing requirement is inflexible, the size requirement can be violated if you are limited to, for example, a lower resolution webcam. The mission and ideals of the project are more important than restricting your ability to contribute.

You may also include a short note to be posted with your photos. It may be a brief statement explaining why you chose to submit, it may be an explanation of a unique scar or body modification, it may be your age, your height and weight, or it may be anything else (loosely) related to the Human Variation project and your submission. You may include your name, in part or in full, or remain anonymous.

What about privacy?

Your privacy is guaranteed. Faces are not required in submissions. They may be cut out of frame entirely, or obscured through blurring. If you do not have Photoshop or similar photo editing software, simply request that your photo(s) be edited and your face can be removed. Tattoos and other distinguishing features may be obscured if necessary, though this is discouraged in the interest of maximizing diversity.

Let's get some big cocks on there, pronto!
