I'm glad you started this thread, Earl, I've been hoping someone could explain the link between the waterbed and the "sex machine" reputation that got associated with anyone who had them. I've had sex on a waterbed. It didn't rock my boat.

I've always wondered about the sex conducive quality of a waterbed myself, never having experienced sex on one. I'd imagine that the frequency of the waves take on a life of their own and interfere with the task a hand.

Anyone out there who likes having sex on a waterbed that can shed some light here?

I like a low bed. One that the sex can spill out around onto the carpeted floor and along the edges. Firm beds are better than soft as you can stand on them easier. Firm pillows are also good as you can prop the bottom up making it easier to piston or straddle it as needed. Duvets work better for sex as you can pull them completely off the bed if you need to and grab it when you are cuddling. I like having sex on flannel sheets when it is cold outside. The bed's gotta feel cosy so I like a queen size bed better than king. A fire place in the bedroom is great for warmth, candles will do also. I like that flickering light and the pleasing golden color of the flame against a person's skin - very flattering. Mirrors always seem cheesy to me and too obvious when people come to visit. Music is not necessary when there are lots of gasps, moans and soft whispers.

Getting rid of my King Bed - it's Queensize from now on. It's so true about a noisy bed. I love that kaboom, kaboom, kaboom noise - it actually gets me off sometimes. I live in an apartment and one neighbor is having sex all the time and the other side very infrequently - me, about 3/wk with a partner and once or more EVERYDAY with myself. And I love to hear them shaking their beds!!

Quick answer: Any bed that has one or more good looking women in it, plus me.

Longer answer: I like bigger beds. King size lets you do more, and roll around more. Queen size is a good choice. Double (or full size) or smaller are OK for the act, but cuddling and sleeping afterwards can be a pain unless you and your partner are small.

The bed should also be about waist high or so on me, and not prone to moving around. That way we can do the positions where the man is standing and the woman is lying on the bed. If the bed is too much higher, or lower, or it moves around a lot, those positions won't work.

Does anyone have one of those Tempurpedic matresses?
I've been thinking about getting one but was wondering what it's like to be getting it on in one, esp. being that it's known for absorbing heat and motion energy...

Any thoughts on this one guys and gals?

Was wondering if anyone had any thoughts regarding having sex on the Tempur-pedic bed?

It's know for absorbing energy, motion, etc -- so was wondering what's it like girls and guys for getting it on, on the sweedish support bed.

Thanks

Even though a waterbed was expensive, I bought all the "hype" that I had heard about and how wonderful sex was on one of them, so I thought I just had to have one. I got permission from my landlord and bought one. What a bunch of crap all that "hype" was. They all must have had stock in waterbed companies!

There is no way you can keep a balance, stand up, move around, or for that matter...have decent sex on one of those damn things! I thought I would get used to it, but I only got sea sick! I still don't know how it happend, but one afternoon trying to have some hot sex, it sprung a leak. It not only flooded my bedroom, but the ceiling in the apartment below fell down. It took days to clean up and months to get the ceiling and floors rebuilt. Thank goodness I had apartment insurance! So....it is the MOST COSTLY bed I have every owned!!!

Earl, your description or your place sounds great. Can I come visit?

California king size, not the standard king size, for me and my partners. A California king size is even wider and can fit 3 people easily. Only problem is that when I want to get out of bed I have to crawl over somebody since I usually sleep in the middle.

Well, it always seems to start on the floor (where there is a lot of room), with a lot of large, soft pillows. Then, for dessert...a hot shower and the big bed!

I couldn't have said it better myself! I personally prefer the floor -- lots of room to move around, no sheets or pillows to get in the way, and no worry of staining the bed linens! :biggrin1:

The floor is where I began my sex life and I feel more comfortable there, as you say plenty of room...and I like room. I don't know about the staining, though, that still is a problem .

Sure, bring some unscented candles. How is that for a suggestive dinner party gift? Sure beats wine.

I tested one out at the Sharper Image store and I'd say it's not great for sex as you tend to sink into the mattress like a rock in wet sand. It constricts body movement which ain't very conducive to sex.

What difference does it make once you're on it?

Rubi, I would guess it depends upon who you're on the bed with.

Do you sleep with Ma and Pa Kettle?

I can conclusively say that with extensive testing, the back of my fucking pickup IS NOT A GOOD BED TO USE..........

So all those porno movies are bunk huh?

The floor is where you began you sex life? Are you Japanese?

I like the floor too as long as there is a soft - non wooly carpet, soft blanket or sheet. Rug-burns smart.

Firm mattress, Queen size, Sturdy high backed frame, Amber stained glass lamps, Chill music in the background....that reminds me -- it's 1AM and time to go to bed!

I forgot who mentioned it earlier, but the low mattress/futon style for easy access to the floor is totally hot.

Earl, forgive me for the semi-hijack, but is the best bed for sex also the best for sleeping together? (Really sleeping, not "sleeping together"...)

You have to get out of bed eventually and getting up can be difficult for an old broad like me, especially after such vigorous exercise.. :biggrin1:

I think so. I have a firm queen size bed and it is just fine for 2 people, but I'm a sound sleeper and don't have any problems falling asleep. I like blankets better than duvets however.

If I lived in a colder place a bed that sat higher off the floor would be better to keep warm I suppose.
