Part Irish here...not small, not red headed, and not pale. In fact, my Irish relatives are darker than many of my Italian relatives. My Irish kin are all "Black Irish" and many of my Italian ancestors were from up in the mountains north of Venice, so they are much more Germanic looking. I, however, am tall, dark, hung, and handsome.

Don't believe it. It's the Italian "myth" than needs dispelling.

There's a popluar myth about men from the British Isles in general. In my experience the Irish, Scottish, and English men I've had sex with are generally larger than their Italian and French counterparts.

I find that often the Irish and English are larger than average and in several cases downright huge.
Colin Farrell used to joke in interviews about having the Irish curse, yet in the sex video, it's pretty clear that he's not as tiny as he has let on.

i think the more widespread myth is that irish people have red hair. yes, some of them do, but it's an english mutation and is more common there.

also, red hair isn't even actually red, and there is no red hair gene. in fact there is a gene that makes skin very pale with no pigment, and as a side effect it turns hair red. just your science fact for the day.

Gee, I'll have to remember to tell my black friend, "Red" that there, Jody.

I had two Irish boyfriends. One was average size, one was pretty damn big. Neither were redheads, neither were alcoholics, although they did both smoke.

So the side effect only occasionally occurs. Okay.

That said, it seems some experts do believe there is a gene for red hair.

This is from the Wikipedia article on Red Hair (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_hair):

did you read the whole article?

i was correct in my first statement. red hair is a side effect. you can get the pale skin gene and not have red hair. you need two copies of the pale skin gene for the red hair side effect to occur. read about how the MC1R affects melanin to understand how this works.

i have red hair and i hate it, this is one of the first things i tried to figure out to make sure if i have kids they do not also have red hair.
