As I said, do the existing parties represent the people? Is the 'occupy...' protest movement another storm at a teaparty, or could it gain majority support? If it could, then he could win. If not, then he will not.

It is a very difficult concept in a democracy to claim that someone standing for election is being selfish and short sighted. Maybe what you mean is that actually the US is not a functional democracy?

I actually think a third and even a 4th part would be great...but what they all fail to see is that you can't just jump in at the highest level. That'll never work. They(other political parties) need to focus on the local and state levels...winning and gaining influence...then when the time and place is right run someone for Congress....someone and some place where they could actually win. Now this is not something that would happen overnight....we're talking about many years of hard work.

I personally think these two posts do a very good job of commenting on this new liberal party. The Occupy movement seems to line up nicely with this new party. We could drastically change politics, but it has to start from the bottom up.

Occupy doesn't like how our government is run, right? There are two options to that dilemma: change the government, or get a new one (Revolution). Obviously, revolution is dirty, and difficult. It would be a last resort. The question then becomes "How do you successfully change how a democratic republic is run?" That I believe is the question Americans who disagree with our government have to answer next. This is why I consider myself a part of this movement. I want to help us as a whole find the answer, and make it a reality.

I would just observe that the established parties rule just so long as they represent a significant block of the population. If a new candidate comes along with different views he is unlikely to do well unless the public has already moved in his direction. But if they have, then the established parties had better watch out.

Part of the point of Occupy is that BOTH parties represents wall street, and as such work AGAINST the interests of the people. The interests of occupy align with The Justice Party. This is a fact thus far.

Rocky anderson is no obama. Mayor of salt lake city hardly qualifies him to do anything other than governor of utah. Nice man, intelligent man, but not president of the u.s. He needs to run for senate from utah, where he is needed. Reelect obama and keep america on the road to recovery.

Rocky anderson served as mayor of salt lake city. This does not qualify him to be president. Sorry. He is a good man, a capable man. But he is no more ready to be president than any other mayor is, including the mayor of new york. Reelect obama in 2012.
