why they think voter suppression laws are fair or necessary,

Voter ID laws are supported by the VAST majority of the population, including by more than 2/3 of African Americans.

Only the Lunatic Fringe types are peeing in their pants over those non-nonsense provisions, widely used in the rest of the civilized world.

"Civilized world", as in Jim Crow, I suppose.

I said "voter suppression laws". Specifically Koch/GOP backed legislation that goes beyond mere id. And a number of us (Stormfront, Sargon, Fuzzy, and I, among others) have discussed WITH substantiating links, how they do so. But don't take OUR word for it.

Here is what REPUBLICAN Colin Powell had to say on the subject:

Colin Powell Condemns North Carolina's Voter ID Law

"Former Secretary of State Colin Powell condemned North Carolina's new voting laws on Wednesday, telling a Raleigh audience that he believes the restrictions unfairly target minority voters..."

"McCrory, a Republican, signed the voting bill into law earlier this month. In addition to requiring voter ID at the polls, the new law also reduces the time allowed for early voting, ends an annual state-sponsored voter registration drive and stops a pre-registration program for minors."

"The measure also scales back campaign donor disclosure regulations for "dark money groups," also known as 501(c)(4)s."

Now, what in the F****K would
scaling back donor disclosures of "dark money" have to do with voter fraud, I wonder?

I bet the KOCHS would know.

Colin Powell is not even a RINO, he is a RINO In Name Only.

I fail to see how any of the cited provisions prevents anyone from voting. It's not like some weaponized Black Panthers are intimidating citizens at the booth or anything...

Really? That old chestnut? It was a ginned up bit of hysteria back then; now it's just . . . tired.

Exactly. Notice how Powell is "no longer a Republican"..."is one in name only". Guess you can't BE one and call out the racist b********** among your ranks.

They DISOWN you for that... apparently.

Notice how they blow up a couple of old black guys calling themselves "Panthers" into heavily armed vigilantes, WITHOUT whom Obama surely wouldn't have been elected. (LMFAO).

Notice also how they fail to mention Koch based conservative groups like True the Vote, Americans for Prosperity, and a bunch of other dark money funded entities, masquerading as grassroots organizations... groups who've done FAR more at intimidating voters, than a couple of guys at a polling place or two:

Is True the Vote Intimidating Minority Voters From Going to the Polls? - ABC News

Also notice how they AS USUAL (not so cleverly) TRY to shift focus and dodge the questions like the one I asked:

What does voter id have to do with the KOCHS'/GOP's desire to block disclosure of dark money sources??????

Indeed they are. There are many entities donating to both Democrats and Republicans.

I happen to have problems with issues and ideology the Koch brothers support, as do many others. And I've called attention to them.

Let them do likewise. Better still, let them do as I have and highlight those issues and ideology THEY oppose.

Let them explain why they DON'T oppose environmental regulation, and why they think voter suppression laws are fair or necessary, or why they think an increase to the minimum wage and guaranteed equal pay for women would NOT be beneficial to workers or the workforce as a whole.

Or why THEY aren't troubled by the Koch's demanding that Koch brand ideology and curriculum be taught in universities they buy... correction... "fund"...

to name just some of what the Kochs have been up to.

Lol. It's a conspiracy! A conspiracy, I say!

Didn't we go down this road months ago? But I guess that was for naught. We talked about clearly liberal leanings in college education, and how students are certainly smart enough to maneuver through why they see as truth and propaganda. But you want to control what students learn, isn't that it? No opposing views, alternative perspectives, since it challenges the things you stand for, minimum wage and environmental regulation, among other things. Again, these students DONT have to take this course, only if they choose to learn about economics, and I might add many liberals could even take the course to learn about what those evil capitalists are preaching so they are better prepared with an opposing argument.

Right, let's go back to teaching one perspective.

All pretense at altruism goes right out the window when big money conspires to dictate curriculum, ESPECIALLY ideology that is beneficial to THEM, directly and indirectly.

Curiously, the SAME sorts who defend it raised all kind of hell about "Big Bird" and the so-called "liberal" PBS.

But what the Kochs do is A-OK. Because some don't mind being bought and sold.

Others do.

BTW: STILL waiting for the answer to my question: What in the HELL has Koch backed legislation designed to HIDE dark money sources to do with voter ID????

Maybe the big money conspiring to dictate curriculum is being driven by big government conspiring to dictate legislation. The Koch brothers are putting their money where their mouths are by supporting capitalist ideology that is under attack by an ever increasing liberal agenda of legislation and teaching in our universities. Regardless, what you are suggesting is against any open exchange or dialogue of economic views because it counters your beliefs. I think that's called censorship.

And BTW, we are talking about private universities where students (young adults) choose their classes, and not public funded institutions (PBS) that take liberties by infusing certain agendas towards young, innocent children sitting captive in front of a television.

If the Koch brothers want a say in university teaching, let them go back to school, earn a PhD, publish in refereed journals, compete in the brutal academic job market, and land a position, like any other professor.

Of course, throwing their money around is a much easier shortcut.

Ah yes, because every liberal minded, university professor (not every one is a PhD, BTW) is equally qualified and objective.

Or the politicians who rule over our lives. I bet many have never tasted poverty.

And what would be the names of these politicians you speak of? Would any of them happen to be republican? Cause if you can't add any or all of them to that list with the democrats you're thinking of then you don't have the right to even bring up poverty in any debate anywhere. Or...shut the fuck up.

People that are honestly talking about poverty do not pick a team. Yes that does mean i have issues with democrats too. Not gonna talk about it though cause i'm not about to cause the ones causing the least amount of poverty to be the ones blamed for all of it.

Maybe the big money conspiring to dictate curriculum is being driven by big government conspiring to dictate legislation.

Koch money conspires to drive both curriculum and legislation. Besides which, how does money driven legislation equate to money driven curriculum (i.e. using FUNDING to dictate curriculum)?

The Koch brothers are putting their money where their mouths are by supporting capitalist ideology that is under attack by an ever increasing liberal agenda of legislation and teaching in our universities. Regardless, what you are suggesting is against any open exchange or dialogue of economic views because it counters your beliefs. I think that's called censorship.

Fiction, created by conservatives to justify ALL they ways they've been meddling in curriculum, including revisionist history, creationism, and the anti Common Core debacle, to name a few.

Further, if you supplant one ideology for another (especially via financial influence) is it not censorship all the same?

And BTW, we are talking about private universities where students (young adults) choose their classes, and not public funded institutions (PBS) that take liberties by infusing certain agendas towards young, innocent children sitting captive in front of a television.

No we are not just talking private universities [tos prohibits my providing proof to the contrary].

PBS "taking liberties by infusing certain agendas..."?? Don't make me laugh. More conservative spin and bullshit.

("That socialist commie rat Big Bird... the NERVE of him teaching all that liberal tripe about treating different peoples with respect!")

Going apoplectic over no-nonsense, universally-accepted voter ID provisions again?

Look at the bright side: if I had my way, voting would require civic literacy testing. Low-information voters would not exist, since the horde of people who can't even name the 3 branches of government (let alone their respective role) would not be eligible to vote...until they meet the minimum civic literacy requirements...

...and you know what that would mean for the "progressive" cause...

I'm sure you WOULD.

STILL: WTF does Koch backed legislation - designed to HIDE dark money sources - have to do with ("universally accepted") voter id provisions?

Equal in that they are all more qualified than the Koch brothers.

Wrong. The Koch brothers make they economy happen.

On the other hand, a great many of those pseudo-economists, wallowing in their tenured sinecures, tinkering with esoteric yet tragically simplistic models of what they think the economy is or should be, are clueless.
