I found this GIF today, and figured it would be the perfect start for a thread dedicated to the strange, unforeseen mind-fuckery the internet holds in store for us all.

If nothing else, a man as smart as that should have laughed off the spiritual claims of alchemy as nothing more than an elaborate excuses for selfishness and greed, but no.
