I don't know who has watched this show but it's kind of amusing and horrible all at the same time. The Moment of Truth is on Fox on Wednesday night and prior to the show contestants are asked 50 or more questions by a polygraph examiner. On the show they are asked 21 questions and if they anwer them all truthfully they win $500,000... There are benchmarks of certain amounts such as $100,000 and prior to the question you have the chance to leave with the money.

Some of the example questions are:

Do you fantasize about cheating on your spouse/partner?
Have you ever broken up by text message?
Have you ever taken something from a store without paying for it?
Have you ever made a sexy video?
Have you ever posed nude?
Do you have fantasies you’d never admit to anyone?
Have you ever spied on a naked neighbor?
Have you ever pretended to be another sex online?
Have you ever uploaded a sexy picture to the internet?
Do you think you’re better than everyone else because you’re hot?
Do you use your looks and charm to manipulate people?
Are you jealous of people who are hotter than you?

On the stage you have a few family members and friends sitting there listening to you answer the questions. There is also a big red button that your family can press to make you not answer a question and it will be replaced with a new one.

I don't think I could be on this show.... My wife and I have a great relationship but there are things I don't want to say on TV. Maybe everybody could share some questions they would have trouble answering or just their comments on the show....

Questions like are you attracted to men? do you watch gay porn? Not that there is anything wrong with that but stuff like that I wouldn't be able to answer without hurting my wife.

I watched this show tonight and thought the same thing you did, that it was amusing and horrible at the same time. I felt guilty for wanting to keep tuned to the show and felt like maybe I needed a shower afterwards. :biggrin1:

There's NO WAY I'd be on the show! I mean, I could use the money but I could be messed up for life if I was on there! I just KNOW they'd ask questions about some of my "deep dark secrets" that I'd rather not have everybody and their brother know about.

I believe the show is aimed at destroying peoples life, and the creators are consciously aware that a person will fail at the +100,000 question. There have been a handful of contestants (the frizzy especially) who truly believed they could win the show because deep in side they had nothing to hide and were not embarrassed by disclosing compromising knowledge. For example, almost all of the frizzy blond’s questions directly affected her family, husband, and reputation, yet she answered frankly without any regrets. In the end, when they reach the 100,000 point, they are sincerely shocked because they believed that the answer they gave was the right one. Its like if I answered, “ I am a boy” and it said “that is… False.” If I believe it is true, then it is true. It is a stupid show, and it follows the same predictable trend. Its only purpose it to destroy family bonds and personal reputations.

I did see it last night, the guy (contestant) was actually very atractive. But I agree, the premise of the show is not great. No one is forcing them to appear and divulge these secrets. Basically they are whoring themselves out for cash.

I wonder how much of it is BS/Staged...

I watched the 5th episode and found it stupid and turned it off, and read in the paper the very next day that this skanky blond chick and her husband, went on even though he already knew she had cheated on him, and they were going through a bad time, so they wanted the money, and this idiotic woman thought the show would be her best chance to become famous because she wanted to be an actress, and so she figured since they had no secrets etc. they could just get the money, and they had already won something like 250,000 and the woman was asked if she thought she was "a good person"...she said yes...and it turned out to be a lie, and they lost everything...

there was a big writeup about them in the NYPost...it was absurd...

how the hell this person thought she'd became famous and get a talk show hosting gig and became famous is just surreal...

She is wretched...and below is the article to prove it (and the video of the show if you can stand it)

WIFE: I DID IT FOR THE TV MONEY - New York Post

of course, now she has a myspace page

I've watched it a couple times but it just feels too fake to me.

1. Why would anybody go on this show if they knew they had secrets that would destroy their family, unless money is really more important to them than their loved ones. Like the wife Flashy's talking about, the article says she wanted to end her marriage anyway and this was a way to get something extra out of the breakup. He was WAY too cute for her anyway.

2. The shocked expressions for the camera don't necessarily mean the family members didn't already know this stuff. Somebody had to know to suggest the really personal questions to the producers.

3. There's nothing stopping them from just saying somebody's answer is false to keep them from winning. Since it's based on polygraph results and those aren't fully accurate anyway they can just doctor the readings and say "Well, that's what the lie detector came up with. Sorry."

Why would anyone want to go on this show? To cause pain and bad feelings to your family and friends? Not worth any amount of money to me.

I watched the show once and that was it. It was in my opinion, humiliating for the contestant, family and friends. It was the show where the blond looked ridiculous...I agree it looks a bit staged!

Every contestant reads "scripted" to me.

However, I do believe that someone could be that idiotic to risk their entire relationship and family for half-a million dollars.
