Standing yesterday on the corner at the local federal building with 5 other sign waving peaceniks, my totally unscientific take on public opinion is that a considerable shift in favor of peace is the present mood.

This is a town with 2 military bases, the states income is 87% oil. The protesters have been there every week since before the war was started (even at -10f). Usually there is little response from drivers, probably about equally 'digitus impudicus' to thumbs up.

Yesterday, a much higher level of honking, waving, thumbs up, smiling, eye contact. So many people took both hands off the wheel to look at the signs and wave, I was worried they were going to have accidents.

Now, if it actually accomplished something...

Zora,
I love it when you speak "french", 'Tish. Really, Z, don't ever change. You always make your point and you always make me laugh with the way you do it.

I agree with JA about MZ but I thought she was a tough old battle axe and could take some serious teasing/flirting. If any offense was taken by anybody about anything I've posted I'm sincerely sorry.

NC If that 'blah, blah, blah' line was taken as directed at your post, it wasn't it was a device for the entire thread poster base. Your post (among several) was a worthy read.

Je les implorez pardon et adieu. Bonsoir Mesdames et Messieurs.
