I think there are loads of others slipping my mind right now who have lots to offer the role, it would be cool if we all got to vote on a selection that is whittled down so that it may offer some extra help in deciding the final choice, ya know, just so the current mods/admins can see how the members feel.

Does it matter what people's votes are for the mod positions? No offense, but moderator isn't a popularity contest, it's about doing the job right. Besides, people had to apply for the jobs -- they have to (a) want to the the job, (b) have the right attitude, and (c) do the job right. Debating who would make a good mod is kinda pointless at this stage in the game.

Ninerr - I think people are just voicing their opinions man, and having a bit of fun.
I don't think it's a popularity contest really - a lot of people have posted who they genuinely think would be good for the roles. I suggested Senor Rubirosa, even though I don't know him very well personally, because his posts indicate he's very calm and fair-minded.
PS: Good idea, Mickey! Didnt think of MR or Mitchy for guides (alongside Pieter), they'd be great though!

None of the old moderators should return in my view. The site's only truly come into it's own since Kotchanski took the helm. I've never met anyone quite like her. The woman's a wonderment from an intelligence point of view. She's detached, caring, and emphatic at all times. She deserves every acolade I can think of but ample superlatives escape me just now. The site's only really come into it's own from a fairness standpoint since Kotchanski took the helm. She has a rather harried life to lead in the real world yet takes the time to sort out the messes which occur here? That's saying a whole lot.
The moderators we have presently (give or take) are superb. They're truly impartial. And that's what this system needs; real impartiality. It's a rare quality not held by a great many who've gone before.
Lest old situations repeat themselves I say choose wisely from a seasoned poster who from the history of his or her posts boasts the ability to discern the genesis of discord and apply the TOS equally and without bias.
Certainly several exist among our more prolific posters. It shouldn't be too hard to find the fairness of a Kotchanski, a nudeyorker, or a tattooedmammameg.
Please administration don't settle for anything less than what you've got going now.
It's been a pleasure to post since my reinstatement. Those who went before in the moderator position can no longer mould and shape LPSG into their own version of their "right and wrong" of "cool kids" versus (perceived) "undesireables". It was a cluster fuck. And the place was rife with acrimony and back-stabbing (as much behind the scenes as in front).
Recall a thread titled the Untouchables authored by DJG in 2007 and it'll illustrate what I mean.
Many good people were lost in my opinion to the slash and burn tactics employed back then. Should that happen again all hell will break loose. No good can come of it.
There you have it; my opinion on a very serious issue.
