MORE positive results from raising AWARENESS of the feelings of those typically ignored or marginalized:

In San Francisco, offensive statue depicting genocide of California Indigenous Tribes removed

"After decades of debate, a deeply painful reminder to all Native peoples and particularly the many tribes in California is now gone. Early this morning before sunrise a crew of San Francisco workers removed a 2,000 pound statue depicting the subjugation and “conquering” of California Natives in order to “settle” California in the mid 1800s. The Church has always painted the genocide of California Tribes as a noble cause but the account from Indigenous Peoples is always different.

Practically unknown... is the extended massacre of California Indians in which [1000s] of the state’s indigenous inhabitants died at the hands of vigilantes and militias in the first few years of statehood. Less than a handful of books have been written about that slaughter. And no movies."

The fact that 90% of the indigenous people of the country were wiped out so America could be “great” is conveniently ignored and dismissed as the stories are told how the Founding Fathers found this empty and deserted land of plenty. It’s amber waves of grain awaiting European settlers to found the greatest country on earth with the help of millions of salves.

It's not genocide when wypipo do it, it's exploring. :)

Well, it didn’t end there:
Sterilization of Native American women - Wikipedia
Government admits forced sterilization of Indian Women - Timeline - Native Voices
Forced Sterilization of Native Americans | Encyclopedia.com
The Little-Known History of the Forced Sterilization of Native American Women | JSTOR Daily
Modern white America preferred sterilization—easier to conceal the continued genocide.

To the O.P., as always I extend a warm welcome to the fantasy land that we call LPSG. Sadly and I stated multiple times, many people / not just our members, lack the capacity to distinguish fact , from fantasy; and this is what makes the world such a dangerous place.

I grew up in NY, where students recited the pledge of allegiance, at assemblies. However I remember a few students who would remain sitting, because of their religious background. I thought it strange; but it was explained to me that it was their belief. I later understood it was their Constitutionally protected right, to remain seated. .

But, before anyone labels me a Northern liberal, I also in a way grew in in NC, I come from an old family, predating the Civil War, by 2 generations . As far as I Know, family has fought and served in every US conflict in the past 200 + years. Pedigree put aside, my hands have helped feed America and other parts of the world for generations. Personally, I pay more taxes than many families make in a year..Living the American dream

Yet I can remember living in NYC and being targeted, by the police, because I should not legally been able to afford the car I was driving. Even though I was driving it to and from work. Please do not say, if you are not doing anything, you will not have any problems with the police. I have met some great and understanding officers; and I have met some profiling A-Holes.

The take a Knee Protest is not aimed at America; but a policy of injustice in America. It has nothing to do with Soldiers. Colin, is a person of conviction. Something this world is sadly in need of. In a world of sell your soul for a dollar, here is a person who risked millions to make a point. But back to the original post from Ms DaisyMay, I do not consider myself Anti American; and I support the action, even though it does not need my support, as it is supported in the constitution. I had an older sibling, who did not return home alive from a foreign conflict, based on what little I remember of him, I seriously doubt he would have a problem with anyone taking a knee

I fully agree. Welcome back.

FYI. The OP is currently unavailable and has taken an indefinite administratively approved hiatus.
