Was just wondering if anyone has any opinions on who should be awarded the olympics in 2012. Personally i hope madrid gets them.

Here are the 5 candidate cities:

How about Baghdad?

New sport: suicide bombing.

No, that wouldn't work - the participants could only perform once.

Nevermind.

I'd like to see London or Paris host. The US has hosted enough lately with Atlanta and Salt Lake City. Moscow hosted somewhat recently, but I can't immediately recall it being in England or France. And Spain had it in Barcelona less than 15 years ago, so that would that Madrid out. But thats not the most important thing since its all about facilities, transportation, and safety. I just don't want to see the US buy another Olympics because we think we're just that awesome that the entire world centers around us....

good idea, except that london is a shithole and there isn't enough room in paris to sit down let alone build a giant stadium. why don't they do it somewhere with plenty of space where it won't make any difference. des moines, iowa, for example.

All of the choices are good candidates.

I personally would like to see Moscow get the Games. The US has had several recent Games, London is waaaay too expensive, Paris is in my homeland, and is my second choice, and poor Spain has more issues w/ terror than we have here in the US. Moscow got screwed out of a real Olympics in 1980 after they invaded Afghanistan, so I feel they deserve another chance at hosting the Games.

And as a side note: I feel that Russia is really making strides in Democracy, and I hope that Bush and Putin, in their effort to seee who can pee the farthest, won't destroy the friendship that the two countries have been enjoying lately.
