Chapter Five

It had taken more than three days for my researches and while I had much yet to do, I felt I had a better understanding, tied with what I had learned from my time among the People of the Forest. I was more anxious than ever for Gar’s return and could no longer sit in the library reading. I walked to the gate, wanting to look to where he would come to the city.

The sun was very bright and hot. Shimmering patches rose above the road that led to the gate. I stared out, hoping in my heart that he would soon appear. Nothing. I leaned against the parapet wall, my head drooping in despair. I felt an arm clasp my shoulders.

“I envy your love.” It was Cambion. “I saw you leave the king’s house and knew you must come here. Brace up, dear friend. I safely venture that nothing on earth will stop his return to you.”

I smiled my thanks to Cambion. We stood looking toward the verges of the forest in the distance. Still nothing. Then, almost beyond the range of sight, a small disturbance in the air began to emerge on the road. The disturbance moved toward us, slowly resolving into a cloud of dust. I strained my eyes to see its source. In the midst of the cloud a solitary figure began to take form. Could it be him? It must be him.

As I ran down the stairs from the top of the gate I could hear Cambion call out, “Open the gates, open the gates.”

I squeezed through just as a gap opened between the gates. I raced along the road, hoping and praying that the one I saw coming toward me was the one. I could see the figure’s head lift up, then begin to run.

“Gar, Gar” I called out, running faster yet, the distance between us closing yet seemingly taking forever At length he came clearly into sight, even through my tear streaming eyes. Yes, it was he, Gar, my love. I saw now that he limped even as he ran to meet me. He stumbled a few feet from me. I caught him in my arms as he collapsed, the last of his strength gone.
“Gar” I exclaimed consumed by fear for him. He raised his face and met my eyes and smiled all his love and relief. I knew he would be alright. I kissed him, holding him to my chest. “I’ll get you home and make you better” I promised.

I raised Gar to his feet, supporting him with his arm on my shoulders, and began walking toward the gate. I appreciated my greater strength in holding up this large man. Through the gate appeared Cambion leading several men with a small cart. He raised his arm in a wave and hurried toward us. When near he called out, “Simon, here, let us help you.“

They helped me to settle Gar into the cart. He lay exhausted yet still smiled at me when I held his hand, walking along side. We crossed the city to my apartments where Cambion and the escort assisted in Gar’s ascent of the several flights of stairs. At last we entered my home and lay Gar upon the divan. Cambion and the others quietly left us, promising to send a physician.

I knelt on the floor still holding Gar’s hand, though he slept. I turned on hearing a small noise behind me. It was Rosarch, my grandmother.
“So this is he?”

I nodded.

“He has been through a great and difficult journey. He needs your help.”
I raised my eyebrows in question, not understanding Rosarch’s meaning.
“Heal him as he healed you.”

Her wisdom crossed the ages. Rosarch patted my shoulder then left the room. I understood her meaning. I would need to share my life force with Gar. I removed my robe and took my cock into my hands, though seeing my beloved exhausted in the extreme, torn and in pain, my erection failed. Gar’s eyes, his beautiful hazel eyes like a reflection of sunlight in the forest, opened and met mine. He painfully reached out one hand and grasped my balls, pulling me toward him. My cock hardened. I placed the head on his lips. He kissed it, then opened his lips and began to suck greedily. His hand continued to grasp my balls, kneading them with a circular motion. After a few minutes, my climax arose. Gar pulled me closer as I began to shoot, cumming from a place deep inside. He drank my cum, sucking hard for more, until at last he had all. My knees buckled and I collapsed onto the floor.
***
I began to emerge from a dreamless sleep, confused as to where I was or what had happened. I heard a soft chuckle and opened my eyes to find Gar leaning over me, smiling. I raised up to embrace him, covering his face with kisses. I could feel him wince slightly at my grasp. “Oh, my darling, I have hurt you.” His eyes smiled. “No, Si-mon save Gar.” He reached between my legs and gave my balls an affectionate squeeze. “Gar love Si-mon.” “As I love you, my own Gar.” We kissed with the passion of lovers reunited.
“You made the trip in only three days. Were you successful in sharing the king’s request with your people?” Gar nodded. “Will they be ready?” Gar pretended a small affront, but smiled his assurance. “I knew they would be. I’m sure you took no time to rest while there. You’ve hurried so you’ve hurt yourself. Thank you for rushing back to me. I am honored by the king’s trust, but having you away hurt even more than I feared. I know of no one who could have accomplished what you have more swiftly, yet I ache at how it has cost you. At least let me get you clean.”

I prepared a large basin of warm water and gently began to wash Gar as he lay. He was covered in dirt and dust from his rapid run through the forest. Scratches and scrapes gave testimony to the difficulty of the journey. His left leg was badly gashed.

“Simon” I heard my grandmother call out. She entered carrying a small bundle. “I’ve brought some bandages and healing herbs. I saw that your companion was injured, though he seems much restored now.” She smiled at Gar.

“Dearest Grandmother, this is Gar, my own love. Gar, this is Rosarch, the one who raised me and the source of much wisdom.”

“Well, he is a large one, isn’t he” she said to no one in particular. I had lost any sense of our nudity, but suddenly realized that my lover and I sat fully naked in my grandmother’s presence. She must have seen my blush. “Now Simon, remember I was the one who bathed you through your childhood, though you have certainly grown up since then.” I could feel my face burn as I reached for my robe. “I have some poultices to put on Gar’s wounds and the covering you requested for him.” She matter-of-factly set about binding Gar’s leg and applying soothing balms on the lesser wounds.

“Perhaps you should rub these in near his, near his uh, well, you know.”

At last relaxed with my grandmother’s presence, I laughed out loud. “Yes, dear, I’ll take care of the more intimate touching.” She discretely turned her back as I lifted Gar’s heavy cock and balls, applying more salve as needed. To my relief and delight, they swelled at my touch. I leaned down to kiss his cock head briefly before covering him with the linen wrap my grandmother had made for Gar’s clothing. A small gesture toward modesty, but in line with my request to respect his accustomed freedom.

All the while we treated Gar, his eyes ran from corner to corner of the room. I felt his tension. I was about to ask him what caused his distress when a hearty hallooing announced the arrival of the physician, the king’s own, sent by Cambion. On entering, the physician greeted my grandmother with a kiss on the cheek. She explained that she had known the physician since childhood. The physician praised my grandmother as one who knew more about cures and healing than anyone else and carried much knowledge of ancient ways. It was my grandmother’s turn to blush modestly. A quick examination of Gar and the applied remedies was performed with the physician’s announcement that the best that could be done had been.

The physician observed, “his wounds will surely heal. Yet I sense anxiety.”

“I thought so too” I confided. “Gar are you in pain?”

Gar looked toward the bank of doors open to the terrace outside. My grandmother followed his gaze. “He’s not accustomed to being in doors, is he?”

“Of course, that’s it” I agreed. Gar has lived in the forest, not bound by walls and ceilings. I’ve always thought how lucky I am to have such large apartments, but to him this must feel like a cage. I’ll move a bed onto the terrace where he might be more comfortable.”

My grandmother was resourceful in finding a few strong lads to help me move my bed onto the terrace. The terrace was broad with an overhang providing protection from the elements and privacy from neighbors. We settled Gar onto the bed. He sniffed the air then turned his head, gazing across the rooftops of the city. Barely visible were the tops of the trees of the King’s Wood. His gaze fixed on the one vestige of nature in the city.

My grandmother next produced a basket of fruits and vegetables. “He must be famished. I don’t know what he likes to eat, but the ancient tales speak of the People of the Forest’s peaceful ways, so far as to forego meat. I’ll gladly make him anything you suggest.”

“This is perfect, Grandmother.” I selected some fruits and began to feed Gar, as he had done with me. He accepted my first offerings, then fed me in return.

“I can see you’ll be needing privacy shortly, so I will say goodbye.” Rosarch departed promising to send a message to Cambion that Gar’s mission had been completed.
***
Our place on the terrace caught the warmth of the setting sun. Sitting side by side, propped up on the bed, I sat looking at Gar’s face. My heart swelled with relief at holding him again and with the recollection of fear at being apart. He sensed my struggle and pulled me to him, kissing me deeply. I was lost in his kiss yet my hand reached for his balls out of habit. It suddenly struck me, “My darling one, you haven’t cum in days and days.”
Gars face was a mix of love, desire and frustration. “We’ll have to fix that, my love.” I tightened my hand on his balls, caressing them, seeking to ease his frustration. Gar responded with a sigh, his cock with growing hardness. I proceeded to use my hands and mouth to ease Gar. He lay still with only a subtle arch of his back alerting me of his imminent orgasm. His cum bubbled out of his cock, not with the force I had known. The cum was thick, creamy and white with a different aroma. I sucked it into my mouth, tasting the richness as I swallowed. As the flow subsided, I lapped up every drop that had escaped my mouth, sharing the last with Gar in a kiss. I felt his heart ease and his embrace relax as he subsided into sleep.

I lay at his side watching him sleep. His fierce masculinity softened by his beardless face. Deep in sleep, he snuggled against my side, draping an arm over my legs, using my lap as a pillow. My cock swelled under the weight of his head, but respected his slumber and did not fully harden with desire. In this state of peace, I too fell asleep.
***
The soft touch of lips on my ear brought me to awakening. The touch moved down along my neck then up to my mouth, greeting me with a kiss. I opened my eyes meeting his smile. “Si-mon”. He enveloped me in his arms and crushed me to his chest. “Si-mon”. I could tell by the large hardness pressing against me that Gar was well recovered. Still, I was conscious of Gar’s injuries. I pushed him onto his back, reaching for lubricating herbs and oils.

“Lay still, lover” I instructed him. I applied the oils to his cock and into my ass, feeling a growing need to have him inside me. Easing the massive member into me required patience and balance, but at last, with the relaxant properties of his precum, I contained all of him. Despite the copious orgasm Gar had given me the previous night, his need to cum was great. After leaning forward for a kiss, I set about fucking his cock with my own growing lust. I could feel his cock head swell inside me, forcing me to slow my pace. I lengthened the stroke, all but standing then squatting until my balls rested on his stomach. On the fifth such stroke, Gar grasped my hips and ground his cock deeper into me and released his orgasm. The jets of his cum blasted my guts overfilling me. An involuntary whimper escaped my lips. Gar’s face was covered with concern, even as he ground more deeply and continued cumming. The cum streamed out of my ass, forced out by Gar’s continued orgasm. His grip on my hips eased as his orgasm’s force diminished. I fell forward onto his chest. He stretched his arms around me holding me close, even as his cock held me from within.

I was still savoring the sensations of Gar’s embrace when he pulled me up to kiss me. This had the alternate effect of positioning the ridge of his cock head directly on the sweet spot in my ass. I gasped. He chuckled, fully aware of the sensory overload I was experiencing. He pulsed his cock. Sweet agony for me. He pulsed again. This started a cascade of sensation throughout my ass, still over full with his cock. The wave of desire struggled, fully stretched by his cock, finally finding release through my own deep orgasm. My balls pulled up creating a foundation against which my orgasm built, erupting not with force but with a continuous flow until the muscles that propelled my cum spasmed and relaxed. I was done.
Gar continued to hold me close. I could feel his beating heart against mine and dozed in complete contentment.

Chapter Six

Gar and I settled into a domestic life together far different from what we had shared in the forest. We still spent our nights making love in the open air of my apartment’s terrace, but daytimes we spent apart, me in service to the king in the King’s House and Gar left to his own resources. My grandmother, Rosarch, visited with Gar each day and a few times took him on walks in the near neighborhood, but she reported that the noises, smells, and bustle of the city disturbed him. He would return to the terrace and gaze across the space toward the barely visible treetops of the King’s Wood only breaking his gaze if he sensed my return.

Day by day, Gar’s energy and enthusiasm faded. Rosarch commented about his wan appearance. And while his kisses were as loving and sincere, his lovemaking lacked its former ardor.

Rosarch took me aside one morning. “Simon, Gar suffers from your absence. The forest is an integral part of his health. I fear for him if he stays here.”

“Grandmother, I cannot abandon my duty to king. Neither can I give up my own love. What can I do?”

Rosarch pondered for a moment. Her face brightened as she spoke. “You must ask a boon of the king. You must ask if Gar may visit the King’s Wood each day as you are at the King’s House. Perhaps this small return to nature will affect a cure for Gar.”

I gathered Rosarch into a hug. “Thank you for your wisdom, Grandmother. I shall ask today. Please don’t tell Gar yet in the event my request is not granted. I don’t know what I then shall do, but I would not disappoint him.”

Rosarch agreed but expressed her confidence in the generosity of the king. I hurried to the King’s House that morning, eager to ask yet fearing the answer.

As I asked the Chamberlain for permission to see the king, Cambion passed. “Come with me, Simon. I’m going into my father now. He’s always delighted to see you. How do your studies come along? If your half the scholar you were in our youth, your learning must be prodigious, indeed.”

The king greeted Cambion with an embrace and a kiss and acknowledged my bow with “get up, dear boy. A pleasure to see you.” My words came in a stammer.

“Your majesty, I must ask a boon to which I have no right. I only ask for the sake of one I love.”

“Dear boy, whatever it is, if it is in my power, consider it done. Your service to me and mine, to the city and our people merit only our deepest affection and gratitude. What is this ‘boon’?”

“Gar, to whom I am joined…”

“Yes, the large fellow from the forest.”

“His life has always been in the open and I fear living in the city is making him ill. I think he would be better if he could visit your wood while I am here. He would make no disturbance, I am sure.”

“I am ashamed I did not think to offer this before now, Simon. I fear I have kept you away from him long hours. Go now and bring him. He shall have access to the wood. Cambion, will you inform our Gardener of my permission?”

I flew through the city, calling to Gar as I came near my apartment. We met on the stairs, Gar’s eyes full of question. He embraced me as I caught my breath, leading me to the apartment. Rosarch waited inside.

“Grandmother, I should know to trust your wisdom. The king has granted my request. Gar, the king has given permission for you to visit the King’s Wood.” Gar looked past me out the window to the tree tops just visible. “Yes, you can be in forest, yet with me.” He smiled and embraced me again. “Come now. I still have work in the King’s House and will call for you when I am done.”

Gar and I walked hand in hand to the King’s House. As we entered the great door, we were met by Cambion. He wore a somber expression. “Simon, your request cannot be honored.” My heart sank. I could feel Gar droop beside me. Cambion continued, “Still, you must come with me.” With heavy steps Gar and I followed Cambion. He led to a long unused part of the King’s House, down passages thick with dust to a long stairway leading up several stories.

“Where are we going, Cambion?”

“Hush and come along.” Cambion’s voice tried to conceal some excitement. At the top of the stair, two stout doors stood closed. Cambion swung wide the doors, announcing, “Welcome to you new home Simon and Gar.”

I stood in shock. “I don’t understand.”

“My father and I talked after you left. It occurred to us that your place is in the king’s household, near at hand. The king has come to depend upon you. Why not have you here always? Come this way.”

Cambion led us past a spacious room, already being set up as a chamber for my work, out on to a vast terrace partially covered by a great awning. And beyond the terrace was the Wood. The many steps we had climbed had brought us to the level of the crown of the trees. Gar sniffed the air for a moment, then ran to the edge of the terrace, launching himself into the trees, disappearing from sight.

“Thank you, Cambion. This is an honor and gift beyond my worth.”

“Nonsense. You have earned this and more. I fear we have much work to do before this business with the Valley of the Deep is over.”

Gar reappeared from the trees, gathering Cambion into his arms in a spin. “I see you are much restored already, Gar” Cambion said happily.

Some workmen appeared in the doorway, struggling to bring a huge bed onto the terrace. “Out here, sir?” they asked Cambion.

“Yes, out here. Simon, as envoy to the People of the Forest has adopted many of their ways, among these a life out of doors. Arrange the household furnishings upon the terrace.”

The bed, once assembled, turned out to be a grand state bed, large enough even for Gar to stretch out comfortably, though I suspect he would prefer his tree-top nest. The bed, though ancient, seemed sufficiently stout to withstand what I hoped would be our renewed vigorous couplings.

Gar came up beside me, nuzzling my neck. On observing this, Cambion addressed the workmen, “we’d better get the bed set up quickly. The new tenants look like they need some private time to settle in.” Then to me, “I’ll let them know in the library that you’ll be detained this morning, Simon.” Cambion ushered the men out. As he himself exited, I heard him mumble, “I wonder what Avrein is doing this morning? This People of the Forest passion seems to be catching.”

Gar’s expression as he led me to the newly assembled bed was warning and promise of a wild time to come. I was not disappointed.

I appreciate your excellent writing and story-telling. If you find a publisher, there are just a very few grammatical flaws which probably should be corrected. In one place there is LAY instead of LIE, and in a few places the incorrect object of a preposition. Also ALRIGHT is becoming more accepted, but ALL RIGHT is still preferred.

Chapter Seven

Gar and I returned from an early morning gambol through the wood to our terrace. Gar had been exceptionally affectionate, my body and heart glowed as a result of his attentions. We paused to embrace in the warmth of the early sun. Into our reverie, a small cough sought our attention. I lifted my glance over Gar’s shoulder to see a man in the shadows of the doorway.
The man took a step into the light. “Devon?”

“There is so much talk of you, dear Simon, I had to see for myself.” Devon’s tone was somewhere between playful and sarcastic.

I broke from Gar’s embrace and crossed the terrace to Devon. He ignored my outstretched hand and wrapped me momentarily in his arms, kissing my cheek. I felt Gar bristle from across the space. Devon took a step back. “My you have grown. Had I any idea such changes were yet to come I would have hung on to you. I am most intrigued by what must lie behind this token of modesty.” He referred to the cloth covering Gar and I wore, made by my grandmother. “It suggests delights rather than conceals.” Devon reached to lift the cloth, stopped by Gar’s grasp on his wrist. Devon’s eyes followed from the powerful hand, along the corded arm, over the bulging shoulder to meet Gar’s smoldering stare. Belying any fear, Devon flirted, “my you are a big one, aren’t you.”

I tried to diffuse the moment. “Devon, this is Gar.” I saw Gar’s grip tighten and feared Devon’s wrist would be crushed. I placed my hand over Gar’s and pried back his fingers. Gar relaxed his grip, Devon took a step back examining his wrist, Gar’s finger marks deep indentations on his skin. I raised Gar’s hand to my lips and kissed it, smiling up at him.

“So its all true, what they say. You’ve taken up with this brute from the forest. He is frightfully attractive, though overscale. Not much into conversation, I’m led to understand. And you, dear Simon, we used to be much the same size. Now all this muscle and hair. Still, if what lurks behind your loin cloth has grown as much as the rest of you, well that I could get used to. And now you’re all set up in the King’s House as special envoy. You’ve surpassed me, dear Simon.”
“Devon, it was kind of you to come see me. As you must have observed, Gar and I have only just returned from some private time. Perhaps we could arrange a time for you to visit that would suit.”

“Oh, you’ll be seeing lots of me” Devon smirked. “The king is gathering all the diplomatic corps over this thing with the Valley of the Deep. He’s asked me to oversee and coordinate the meetings. It will mean a great effort on my part, but I give my all for our king and city.”
All during Devon’s speech, I felt his eyes wandering hungrily over my body. Judging from the tenseness I felt from Gar, he observed the same. It was only when Devon had been gone some minutes that Gar’s tension relaxed, albeit slightly.

Gar reached under the cloth and grasped my balls, spinning me to face him. I believe his grip was rougher than he intended, for on hearing me cry out, he massaged my balls and smiled an apology, leaning in to kiss me. Still, he held my balls tightly and questioned with his eyes.
My heart warmed with an overflow of love for Gar. “My own dear one.” I reached up to caress his face. “You have nothing to fear from Devon. You are my life and love.” Gar knitted his brows and gave my balls a shake. “Yes he is an attractive man, and yes we were lovers. I can’t blame him for envying me the happiness I have with you. He has nothing for me, though I would welcome his friendship. I would have you be comfortable with him, particularly since we may be working together on behalf of the king.”

Gar’s grip on my balls eased. His fingers began to massage the place above and my cock instantly hardened. “Gar, we just made love several times in the wood” I admonished. Gar simply smiled and pulled me by the balls across the terrace toward our bed. “You know I can’t resist you.” Gar lifted me bodily onto the bed. He closed his mouth over my cock and sucked deeply, sending me into a rapture. It was only as his cock pressed against my ass, opening me, that my mind again focused for a moment only to be dissolved into the bliss of his lovemaking. Whenever Gar and I made love, it was beyond my reason, but this time Gar took possession of my soul like never before. The bells in the tower alerted me that time had passed, still I clung to Gar wanting the moment to never end. He lay on me, in me. I could feel his cock’s post-orgasmic pulses deep inside.

“Gar, you amaze me yet again.”

Another cough came from the doorway. “Yes?”

A page from the court stepped forward. “Forgive me sir,” he stammered, averting his eyes, “but the ambassadors and diplomats have gathered and wait only for you to begin the day’s meetings. Devon sent me to bring you back. He said your presence was needed.”

“Ah, Devon was it? I might have known he would neglect to tell me of the meeting to get some of his own back. You, kind sir, may return with word that I shall join them shortly having now been informed of the meeting.” Then to Gar, “alas, dear one, only duty to the king can drive me from your embrace, damned duty, but go I must.” Gar held me tightly for a long moment, then released me, slowly withdrawing his still engorged cock from my ass. My body spasmed several times, leaving me breathless and unable to walk for a time. Gar assisted me in cleaning up and kissed me gently as he escorted me to the stair. I had to grip the railing to keep from falling several times as waves of pleasure echoed from our earlier lovemaking, I looked back to see Gar smiling with satisfaction, I think more from how deeply his loving affected me as from his own orgasm. “I’ll be back as soon as I can, dear Gar” I called before losing sight of him. I hoped for enough stamina to do justice to my lover’s affections.
***
The conferences to plan a response to the threat from the Lord of the Deep Valley occupied the entirety of the king’s household and staff. Meeting followed meeting, often late into the night. I stole any time possible to be with Gar, but the urgency of the king’s work kept me away most days and often late into the night. I would return to find Gar waiting for me. He was kind in his affections, understanding my tiredness, but I could feel a growing frustration.

One late morning, the conference recessed having reached loggerheads over a minor point that split opinions into many camps. It was agreed by all that some time to consider alternatives was necessary. I raced through the King’s House, up the long staircase, calling out for Gar. For the first time since he found me along the road, he was not there when I called. Our rooms and the terrace were empty. I scrambled through the Wood to our favorite places, still no Gar. I became alarmed. On reflection, I see that it is silly to be concerned for the safety of a muscled giant likely within the confines of the King’s House grounds, yet my heart ached with worry. In desperation, I ran toward the main house for help and then I saw him. There stood Gar, holding court in the center of a clutch of the king’s advisors. He held them in rapt attention. As I drew near, I recognized the court gardener, the king’s apothecary and the royal physician. Gar sensed my approach and stood erect to greet me. The others turned to see who approached.

“Ah, Simon, dear boy. Your Gar is a wonder” the apothecary said. “Imagine, in our own wood, herbs and cures unknown for centuries and Gar teaches us.”

“And have you noticed the Wood and gardens since you’ve moved here?” asked the gardener.

“They flourish as never before. Trees I feared long dead have sprouted. Even the animals show a new robustness. Gar brings a benign influence on all the Wood. The rabbits, I’m afraid, were beginning to invade some of the parterres, but a word from Gar seems to keep them at bay.”

The royal physician looked grave. “As wonderful as these things are, I fear none will suffice to aid the king. He weakens by the day. The weight of worry draws him quickly to the end of his days, even as we need his strength and wisdom more than ever in these troubling times.”
I could see the concern grow on his face as Gar listened. Gar took my hand and led me, not toward our rooms as had been my hope, but toward the king’s chambers. He brushed by the Chamberlain and guards at the door. The royal physician trailed after us tossing explanations and assurances to the Chamberlain. Once inside the king’s bed chamber, Gar came to a halt. I stepped past him, readily seeing the reason for his motionlessness. There was the king, sallow and wasted, clearly nearing death. Cambion came dashing through the door a moment later, alarm across his face.

“I saw Gar and you coming this way. I feared the worst and on seeing my father, my fears are not allayed.”

“Cambion, Cambion” the king called out, his voice a hoarse whisper. “You must send for your brother. My time is short.”

“No father, there must be something we can do for you.”

A sudden commotion could be heard just beyond the chamber door. The Chamberlain dashed in, his face contorted with worry. “My lord, I have just received a report that a large party from the Valley of the Deep is at the gate and seeks an audience. What should I do?”
Cambion came alive and took charge. “On behalf of the king, go to the gate and invite in only the ambassador and two others of his choosing. Take them to a diplomatic residence and offer refreshment. Tell them that the king will grant an audience at his pleasure and assure them that it will be soon, but offer no specific time. Or date for that matter. That will buy us some time.”
The king smiled at his second son.

During these instructions, Gar had approached the king and begun an examination, much as he had done to me when he discovered me long ago. He was wholly focused on the task, not noticing the royal physician approach his side. “Gar, I fear the king’s condition is beyond my skills. Have you a recommendation?”

Gar briefly approached me and touched my chest over my heart. His face held concern. He motioned for me to remain and left the chamber. An anxious hour passed until Gar returned carrying a familiar bundle wrapped in a large leaf. He took me by the hand and led me to a small room adjacent to the king’s chamber. Gar looked into my eyes with great purpose. He began to massage my scalp with one hand, my chest over my heart with the other. After a time, he opened my robe and began to rub my cock, bringing me to full erection. Pausing from time to time to renew his touch of my head or chest, he proceeded to stimulate me to orgasm. It was not the heated sexual exchange we usually shared, but rather a drawing out of my semen. When at last I climaxed, Gar carefully caught my ejaculation in the leaf, then put it aside. He took my hands and placed them on his head and chest, showing me to repeat his earlier treatment of me. I understood and followed his example, bringing him to orgasm, catching his voluminous orgasm in the leaf.

Gar took the now sodden leaf and combined it with various herbs and flowers he had brought with him. He worked this with his hands slowly producing a thin stream of liquid he captured in a bowl. He led me back to the king’s side and raised the bowl to the king’s lips. “Drink” Gar instructed the king. The king complied, initially with difficulty, then seemed to be eased. To the physician’s questioning glance I replied, “Gar has prepared a tissain of our life force.”

“Will this cure him?” asked the physician.

Gar sadly shook his head ‘no’.

“It has already eased the king’s distress” the physician observed. “Perhaps it will be enough to meet the immediate challenge after he has rested. Thank you for your effort.”
***
The Chamberlain returned as we left the king to his rest. “Cambion, I have done as you asked with the ambassador, though he insisted in bringing what appeared to be two rabid dogs and a kind of giant raving man, all in chains. I have long heard that representatives from the Deep Valley seek to intimidate others with their wild animals. I pray he can control them. The sooner we can hold the audience the better. How is the king?”

“Resting comfortably for the first time in a long time” confided the physician. “Though I do not think for very long. It is a great sadness. Gar has done much to help, yet the king is very old and ill. Let us see how things are in the morning.

Chapter Eight

We all gathered at first light and upon entering the king’s chamber were greeted by a hearty ‘halloo’. “Your majesty is much recovered?” the physician asked not hiding his amazement.

“Not so much recovered as filled with a kind of energy. We must be about our business quickly with the ambassador, lest he suspect that I am not well. I can sense my present liveliness is short-lived, as I think am I. Still, duty calls. Arrange for the audience immediately. Physician, help me to the Hall. You, Cambion, Simon, Gar, stand in front of me that none can see that I am ill. Quickly now.”

We scrambled to be ready when the ambassador from the Deep Valley arrived. We could hear his vociferous complaints at having been delayed and now the earliness of the hour as he approached. We also heard the snarling of his accompanying animals, not so much dogs as wolves straining at the heavy chains that bound them. And between these two frightening creatures was one more terrifying yet and even more tightly bound. Unable to stand erect, he strained against his bonds. I heard Gar gasp at my side, then realized that this raging animal was a man, a man similar in appearance and size to Gar. I knew he must be of Gar’s kind, though distorted by cruelty into the dangerous being that threatened us all.

Cambion called out, “Control your beast. How dare you bring these into the presence of the king?”

The ambassador struggled with his end of the chains ignoring Cambion. “Let us to business. The Lord of the Deep Valley wishes to express his dedication to peace.” The snarling creatures gave lie to this platitude. “He seeks your assurance of loyalty to be presented in tribute. He reminds the king of the City of Walls that the king’s son and heir resides as the Lord’s guest.” Insinuation filled the ambassador’s speech.

Cambion looked to the king who nodded to him. “We shall entertain the Lord’s request and send an envoy with our reply.” The king again nodded.
A lengthy silence fell over the hall as both sides examined the other. Suddenly, a cry for help rang out. The ambassador’s man-beast lashed out and captured a page, rapidly tearing at the young man’s clothes, clearly setting about raping the lad.

“Stop!” I heard my own voice demand. The creature looked up for a moment, sneered and set about his evil deed. I felt a small nudge from Gar, pushing me toward the creature. “Stop I say.” Taking hold of the creature, I bodily pulled him off the page praying for courage I did not feel. The page fled leaving me alone with my opponent. “You will not do this. You will be at peace.” The creature looked at me in disbelief, then acquiesced and fell at my feet. The entire hall, not the least me, looked on in amazement. Even the snarling dogs lay quietly.

The ambassador threw down the chain. With a combination of distaste and relief, he proceeded toward the door taking only the dogs stopping to say,

“We shall await your envoy. You” pointing at me. “You must take your prize” referring to the creature. “Ancient laws require forfeiture of vanquished property. This creature was captured when very young and converted into a weapon, though beyond my power to control. He routinely assaulted members of my staff. You are welcome to him. He has been nothing but trouble for me. Please forgive me, but this show of violence is the protocol of the Lord of the Deep Valley. I am glad to be quit of him. And now” he said with a bow” I leave him to you.” He was gone.

I knelt over the creature, observing how the chains had cut into his skin at his wrists, ankles, and neck. Gar stepped forward, placing one hand on the creatures head, the other on his own chest. “Gar” he intoned.
The creature looked up, a confusion of rage and relief on his face. “Tro” he replied.

The members of the court gathered behind Gar and me, peering at the suddenly acquiescent creature. A small voice came from the midst of the crowd. It was a member of the library staff, Trevor. “Simon, in some of the material I’ve gathered for your study, I read about a practice among some cities to capture wild beasts and train them through hardship and abuse as accoutrements to display the strength of officials. I have read nothing, however, of a Person of the Forest so corrupted. Knowing Gar for only a short time, I cannot imagine the horror this creature’s life must have been to be so altered. And yet, with only a few words from you of authority without violence and he is pacified. The texts go further to report of many instances where these creatures when saved from bondage attach themselves to the intercessor for life.”

All during this speech the creature, Tro, huddled at my feet.
“If what you say is true, Trevor, we must free him of these bonds and care for his wounds.” At my suggestion, the court drew back in some fear. “Gar, help me to take him to the nearest smith.” Cautiously, Gar and I took Tro by the hands and led him out of the King’s House to a nearby smithy. The smith looked at us with disbelief and concern when I asked him to cut the iron bands from around Tro’s neck, wrists and ankles, explaining that he had witnessed the creature as he roared through the city on his way to the King’s House earlier. At my insistence, and with great caution, Tro’s bonds were released.
The creature stretched to his full height, flexing all his muscles with the new freedom. All present held their breath waiting for what would come in the next moment. Tro, bowed in thanks to the smith, embraced Gar and knelt before me. I tried to get him to rise, but he refused.

“Tro, you are free now.” I took Gar by the hand and began walking out of the smithy. Tro followed a few yards behind. He followed us to the King’s House.
The guards at the door demanded that he stop. In place of the outburst they feared, Tro fell to his knees, calling to me with his eyes.

“It’s alright” I explained to the guards, “he is with me. Come Tro, let us treat your wounds. You may stay with us until we figure out where you might go.”
Tro’s face lit up and with obedient bows to the guards dashed up to me. We three, Gar, me and now Tro climbed up to our rooms. Gar was away a few minutes collecting healing plants that he applied to Tro.

“I need to return to the king” I explained to Gar leaving the room. Halfway down the stair, Tro came bounding after me. I had a moment’s fear which evaporated when Tro fell into step behind me.
We ran into the librarian, Trevor, outside the king’s chambers. He smiled knowingly. “I see the texts were right. You have a protector now, Simon. This one will stand between you and danger always. I think we have nothing to fear of him, lest we cross you. Your bravery this day in standing up to this creature was impressive, indeed.” Then to Tro, “forgive me, what is your name that I may address you properly?”

Tro looked at the librarian with wonder at being addressed as a man. A tear started in his eye. He looked to me for help. “His name is Tro” I explained.

“Then Tro, I am honored to meet you this day and welcome you here. I join you in your admiration of Simon. Guard him well.”

“Trevor, you presume too much. We have as yet to understand Tro’s choice for the future” I cautioned.

“Expect what you will, if the ancient texts are right - and they have proved ever more so each day - Tro will be at your side unto death. I am envious of that devotion. While he has suffered much, I am confident that in time he will recover to be as magnificent a man as your own Gar. All the city admires your relationship with him and is envious of your attachment. I admit the same myself, though meeting Tro, I admit a new admiration.”

The Chamberlain approached us with a wary eye toward Tro. “Have you come from the king’s chambers?” I asked.

“Yes, he is resting after the audience with the ambassador. I fear the excitement has drained him, though his satisfaction with Cambion’s actions on his behalf and your own show of strength is evident.” The Chamberlain took me aside, “about this one” referring to Tro, “Is he safe?”

“I believe so.” Trevor nodded his agreement. “In any case, I will be accountable, with Gar’s help, for his behavior. I am amazed at the change in him, though Trevor has found references that indicate no surprise at his sudden peacefulnesss.”
***
I returned to my rooms, followed closely by Tro. Gar was not there, likely in the Wood or with the royal gardener. I admit a small pang of envy of his time out of doors, but had a large stack of dispatches to read and much correspondence to attend to. I sat at the large table that served as my desk to get to work. I was accustomed to working intently and quickly fell into deep concentration. I am unaware how long I had been working, but became aware of a soft touch on my thigh. I looked under the table to find Tro on the floor nuzzling between my legs.

“Tro, please stop. I’m not sure what you have in mind, but this is too intimate a touch. Please come out from there.” Tro shame-facedly emerged from under the table. “I’m sure you meant no harm and I apologize if I’ve been unclear, but Gar and I are joined. I have no intimate relationships other than Gar. Do you understand?” Tro nodded sadly. “You are free to go, you have no obligation to me.” Tro looked downcast. I could not bear to see this powerful man so despondent. “You may, if you wish it, stay here, but I ask that you respect my relationship with Gar.” Tro brightened.

I had need of material from the library. Tro shadowed me, drawing many comments from the members of the king’s household as we proceeded. On returning to my rooms, I suggested that Tro would be more comfortable on the terrace while I worked. I again settled into my task only to become aware of a warm body against my feet. Tro again, though this time without the intimate touching. I resolved to let him be and returned to work.

A while later I felt a presence behind me. I inhaled, recognizing Gar’s scent, he having returned through the terrace doors. I was surprised that he did not embrace me from behind nuzzling my neck in his usual greeting. I turned to see Gar leaning against the doorway with a bemused questioning look.

“What is it, dear one?” I asked him.

He gestured at Tro under the table. I took his question to be a humorous tease, not a challenge of fidelity. “No, Gar, I have not taken a lover. Tro seemed more comfortable being close by, so I let him. His life must have been a nightmare. Let’s let him be.” Gar smiled his understanding, then stepped forward to embrace me. Tro looked at us from his place under the table.

At that moment the main door to the room banged open. Devon burst into the room making demands. He was only two steps in when Tro exploded from under the table pinning Devon to the wall, growling fiercely into his face.

“Great heavens, call him off” Devon shrieked.

“Tro, while his entrance was rude, Devon means no harm. He will likely knock and ask permission to enter hereafter. You may let him go.”

Tro released Devon through with a fierce warning look.

“You mean you have two of these creatures now?” Devon asked in amazement.

“An unintended gift from the Lord of the Deep Valley. Tro was a trophy of some kind. I merely insisted he not ravish one of the pages and now he seems to be in residence. Though I am beginning to appreciate some of his qualities.” Gar joined me in enjoying Devon’s discomfort.

“Well, yes, then” Devon stammered. Tro returned to my side. “I actually came with some business in mind, to your benefit. Many of the diplomatic staff, myself among them, have observed that you, Simon, are carrying a heavy burden of work. It has been proposed that you have some assistance. Trevor, from the royal library, has been recommended. He’s to serve as your assistant and secretary. Will that meet with your approval?”

“I very much appreciate the offer of assistance. I would need to discuss this with Trevor, to be sure he is amenable. From my past work with him, I am confident he is a good choice.”

“I’ll have him come up first thing tomorrow” Devon said, adding, “and I’ll warn him to approach cautiously.” Devon exited going backwards, keeping his eye on Tro until well down the stairs.

Gar began laughing heartily, reaching out to embrace Tro who beamed at the attention. “Gar has not been pleased with Devon’s presence” I explained to Tro. I suspect that was the same reception he wanted to give Devon.”
***
I called for a page to send a request to the Chamberlain to have an adjoining room made up for Tro to stay in, being unsure as to what to do with our new addition. After a quiet meal in our rooms provided from the Wood by Gar, I showed Tro to his room, only to find him following me out onto the terrace.

“Tro, this is where Gar and I sleep” I explained. He nodded understanding and proceeded to lie on the floor at the foot of our bed. “No, you don’t get my meaning. You are to sleep in the room I showed you. Gar and I sleep - alone - here on the terrace.” Tro rose with disappointment and trudged into the room, looking back with anxiety.

Gar took me to bed, smiling at my discomfort. He quickly took my mind off of any worries, giving me a lifetime’s attention through the course of one night. As dawn broke onto the terrace, I awoke bodily and emotionally refreshed only to be taken aback at a slumbering form on the cold stone of the terrace floor by the bed. Tro had returned in the night. I took my own pillow, placing it under his head and covered him with a blanket. I felt Gar’s eyes watching me.

“Gar love Si-mon” he said softly, approving of my kindness to Tro.

“Did you know he had come back?” I asked Gar. He shrugged his shoulders clearly stating “what’s to be done?” not feeling any embarrassment at having made love in another’s presence.

I harrumphed, kissed Gar good morning, and set about arranging breakfast. Tro awoke and joined us at the table, after asking permission with an inquiring look. Somehow his presences at breakfast seemed more intrusive and intimate than his proximity to our activities in bed. He ate with good appetite, giving Gar a look of admiration, I supposed for Gar’s efforts through the night. Gar tried not to gloat too proudly. The silent communication between People of the Forest was establishing between them. I resolved to find Tro a better accommodation.

Trevor appeared in the doorway after much loud knocking and hallooing.
“Excuse me, sir, but I was told to meet you here this morning.” Trevor came up short on observing three naked men at breakfast on the terrace.

“Join us, Trevor, through I must ask your forbearance on our attire, or lack thereof. I’m afraid if you’re to become part of our household, you’ll need to become accustomed to nakedness. The People of the Forest forego any attire at all, though as you’ve observed, Gar does wear a cloth when about in the house or gardens. We shall have to make similar arrangements for Tro while he is here.”

Trevor demurred, “I’m very pleased with the view” as glanced from one of us to another.

“Just so your are comfortable” I assured, adding “and that it doesn’t interfere with our work.”

Trevor laughed.

“To business then. Devon tells me you’re willing to work as my assistant. I’m afraid it will be long hours. With the threats from the Lord of the Dark Valley I cannot predict what we will be called upon to do. And then there is the king’s health. I am very concerned.” Gar nodded his own concern.

“With all you say, Simon, I am more eager to work with you. The king needs all any of his subjects can do.”

“It’s settled then. Shall we begin?” Trevor and I went into the main room, followed by Gar and Tro. Gar embraced me, kissed me deeply, then returned to the terrace and from there to the Wood. Tro reclined on the floor within arm’s reach of me, only moving if I moved.

“It’s like the texts stated, he has become your devoted protector” Trevor observed.

“I suppose you’re right, Trevor. Last night, unbeknownst to me, he came onto the terrace where Gar and I have our bed, and lay nearby all night. I’m afraid he was witness to some intimacies. I am somewhat embarrassed.” We looked at Tro who returned the look with a concerned gentleness.
***
Trevor and I quickly fell into a comfortable working relationship, accomplishing more between us than I could have done had I two of me. He was bright, quick, and eager and brought a detailed knowledge of all the royal library’s resources. We worked late that first day. The sun had already set when I looked up to find Gar and Tro looking across the table at me, Gar with a flush of desire on his face, Tro his usual watchful concern.

“It has gotten very late, Trevor. You must feel free to interrupt when I become overly involved. I’m sure you need to get home and Gar seems to have plans for me.”

“I am at your disposal Simon, we’re doing important work. I’ll return first thing tomorrow.” He reached over the table to shake my hand, leaning his other hand on Tro’s shoulder for balance. Tro’s eyes closed as he rubbed his head across Trevor’s hand. I was aroused at the sensuousness of Tro’s response.
When Gar and I had retired to bed on the terrace I asked him, “Gar, I know very well about the intensity your sexual needs.” He nuzzled me in anticipation. “Tro has long been neglected in every way. I suppose he has been neglected that way, too.” Gar made small noises of agreement even as he began to caress my balls. “I don’t know what to do to help him.”

Gar stopped his attentions to me and leaned back against the pillows. He looked at me from under his brows and sighed his understanding that I was going to talk about Tro, not respond to him, though my cock was already greatly engorged. This huge, powerful man leaned over me, face to face, and simply said, “Tre-vor.” Without waiting for any response, Gar hoisted up my legs to his shoulders, penetrated me and fucked me into oblivion.

During a brief pause well into the night I did manage to say, “Gar, I love you. I should know to rely upon your wisdom. Is it my turn on top?” Gar laughed and drew me into him and we made love again.
***
I was not overly surprised to find Tro, again at the foot of our bed. This time, however, he rested on a large cushion I later found out had been provided by Gar. He greeted me with a knowing wink as I got out of bed. I could see his profound erection under the blanket and remembered Gar’s solution. Would Trevor be interested in Tro? If interested, could Trevor, who was very slight, accommodate the needs of a Man of the Forest? I thought back to my first couplings with Gar. Surely it was impossible, yet, with Gar’s gentleness and the almost magical qualities of his precum and semen, we made love beautifully. I thought not to interfere and let things take their course.
As I mused on all this, I looked up to see Trevor standing in the doorway again, staring at Tro. Tro returned his look.

“I see you’re here early again, Trevor” I ventured.

“Ah, yes” he replied as he returned to focus. “I thought I’d get an early start” and then quietly to himself, “and not miss the show.”

Gar reappeared from the Wood with breakfast gesturing for us all to join him at the table. I saw Trevor watch every motion of Tro’s slightly softened cock as he walked across the terrace, his mouth open. Tro sat next to Trevor, touching his shoulder in greeting. I could see that Gar was probably right.
***
A page arrived summoning me to the king’s chambers for a private meeting with the king and Cambion. I took Tro aside and explained that he could not accompany me to the meeting and that he should await me in our rooms. He looked perplexed. I proceeded down the stairs only to find Tro a few steps behind me. I took him by the hand back to our rooms and asked Trevor to be with Tro while I was away. I had almost reached the king’s chambers when I was stopped by a commotion from behind me. There was Tro marching resolutely after me towing a resisting Trevor who begged, pleaded, and threatened Tro to come back to our rooms.

“Tro, please understand. There are times when you cannot be with me. I am perfectly safe in the King’s House. You need have no concern. Now, please go with Trevor back to our rooms. I promise to go immediately there when I have concluded my business with the king.”

Crestfallen, Tro allowed Trevor to take his hand and guide him away. Cambion stood in the hall laughing at my distress. “Come in to see father, he will enjoy hearing this next chapter about the fearsome man-beast you tamed with a word, though I fear he has pressing matters on his mind.”

“Ah, Cambion” the king called in a whisper as we entered. No sign of the earlier energy lingered.

“Here father.”

“As I said yesterday, you must send for your brother.”

“I’ll go at once.”

“No. You cannot leave the city. Should I die before the heir arrives, the city will be without its leader. You must send for him. Send someone you trust.” The king’s gaze came upon me. “Why Simon, of course.”

“But it is my duty, father” Cambion protested.

“As I fear you and your brother will soon learn, your duty is to the people of the city, not to ourselves or each other. I have no doubt of your courage or ability. Still you cannot go into danger. Simon, will you take on this mission? It means great danger for you. Reskin, my heir and Cambion’s brother, as you know, has been on an extended stay in the Deep Valley. He asked to go there partially from fascination with their ways but I fear as much to be with a lovely girl he met when she visited here. Since then they have married and have had children, twins a boy and a girl. I have sought their return many times. Until recently I accepted the excuse of the tender age of the children for their not coming to our city. Then Cambion seemed to prefer his life in the Valley of the Deep with its overt displays of power and aggression. Now I fear they are detained, perhaps not as prisoners, but still detained as hostages as we heard the ambassador allude.”

“Sire, I readily accept this commission” I said with more confidence than I felt.

“I will have Gar at my side. There is nothing we cannot do.”

Cambion stroked his chin in thought. “You introduce an interesting dimension. The ambassador of the Deep Valley made a great show with his raging dogs and that man-beast. Though intended to impress us with his and the Lord of the Deep Valley’s power, it turned against him when you disarmed his beast. I think that if we expand your trip to the Deep Valley into a full diplomatic mission, perhaps stopping at a few other cities along the way, we could conceal the true nature of the visit and improve our odds of success.”

“Good, dear boy” whispered the king.

“What do the ambassador’s dogs have to do with it?” I asked.

“Don’t you see? Gar, and now your other one, would be a far more fearsome presence. You would have the symbols of power they respect. And, you would have twice the protection.”

“I don’t know if I could subject Tro to the humiliation of being bound in chains.”

“I would not demean any creature carelessly.” Cambion assured. “Let us present the idea to Gar and Tro, is it? To see if they are willing. We cannot send a strong force to protect you without uncovering our intention to release Reskin or perhaps to rescue him. And I would be less hesitant to send you in my stead knowing you had Gar and Tro’s protection.”

“If this is something you and your friends - family really is what it is - can do for me, for the city, I am forever in your debt. I realize the danger and would not accede to Cambion’s proposal if I saw another way, but my time is short. Go and discuss this among you, but decide quickly. Please.” The king lapsed into silence though continued to ask with his eyes.

Cambion and I returned to my rooms. Oddly, no one was present. I had come to understand Gar’s absence with his emerging role as keeper of the Wood, but I was concerned about Trevor and Tro. A deep, prolonged sigh came from behind the closed door of Tro’s room. I raced to the door and opened it, fearing I know not what. On opening the door I discovered Trevor and Tro on the bed in rapt embrace.

“Heavens, I’m so sorry” Trevor stammered.

I could not stifle a laugh. “No dear ones, it is I who am sorry to intrude. Please excuse me” I said retreating from the room.

“Everything alright?” asked Cambion.

“I suspect everything has just gotten a lot better.”

Trevor emerged from the room, red-faced, followed by Tro. Tro’s face bore a smile and the signs of satisfaction.

“Simon, I did not intend to violate your trust. Tro looked so unhappy and yet so handsome. I tried to comfort him and I am afraid I let passion take control” Trevor explained. Tro stood towering over him looking sheepish.

“Trevor, Tro, frankly I’m relieved, perhaps not as much as Tro” I joked “but relieved nonetheless. Our little family, as the king has called us, faced issues of compatibility that you two seem to have resolved for us all. Perhaps Tro may be persuaded to spend time in his room at night, that is if you’re willing Trevor.”

“Willing? It answers my greatest desire. I must admit that my appointment here was not wholly Devon’s idea. From the moment I saw Tro, I burned to be with him as you are with Gar.”

“Then you must be part of an adventure we are to undertake for the king” Cambion stated. “Can you call Gar?”

Gar leapt from the treetops onto the terrace as I walked out to call him. He greeted me with an embrace and a kiss. “Gar, we have business for the king. Come in and hear Cambion explain.”

On entering the room, I could see Gar’s glance go to Tro and Trevor. I do not know whether it was Tro’s new relaxed posture, the lingering smell of sex, or Trevor’s tousled appearance, but I could tell Gar understood what had passed between them. He nodded approvingly.

Cambion observed all this and said, “I see much goes on here that is beyond my purview, though I offer congratulations, if that is appropriate. Alas, I must intrude upon your domestic life here. The king’s business is urgent. I would undertake it myself, though the king’s health and my duty here prohibits my leaving the city. Simon is asked to go on a diplomatic mission to visit several cities. This is a cover of an underlying mission to free my brother, Reskin, and his family from the Valley of the Deep where we fear they are captive.”
Gar and Trevor nodded their understanding. Tro moved near to me, I suspect in response to his protective instinct.

“More is to be asked of you, Gar and Tro. I ask it, fully accepting that you may refuse.” They looked on questioningly. “An ambassador’s importance is often judged by the perceived power of his city. Some, as the ambassador of the City of the Deep Valley, show power using symbols. You, Tro, were such a symbol.”

I stepped up to continue. “Tro, Cambion and the king are asking you to return to the role you held under the ambassador.” Tro blanched and took a step back. “Not for real, dear one, no. Only a pretense. And only for those moments when we are officially meeting with other cities.” I turned to Cambion. “I cannot bear to ask this.”

“Then I must” Cambion interrupted. “You see, you and Gar will be granted entry as the ambassador’s beasts. You will be there to protect Simon and each other. I ask this for this is truly my duty, not Simon’s and he must be protected.”

Gar moved to stand by Tro, wrapping an arm around his shoulders, looking into his face. I cannot imagine the thoughts they exchanged, though clearly volumes were spoken. Slowly Tro’s expression of fear and disgust became resolute. He stood more erect and again stepped toward me protectively.

“Is it settled then? You will go as I ask?” Cambion waited for a reply.

“I’m going, too” Trevor intruded. “An ambassador must have a scribe and attendant and I could not bear to stay safely behind when any of you are in peril. And Tro, we’ve only just begun our life together.”

“Of course you will go in the role you suggest. But Gar, Tro, is this something you can do?”

Tro wrapped his arms around me protectively and nodded. Gar placed a hand on Tro’s shoulder in a firm grip. Trevor completed our group placing his hand on Gar’s shoulder.

“Good, it’s decided then.” Cambion said with relief. “We have much to organize. I would have you leave as soon as possible. I will have Devon come so you can brief him on your current activities. He’ll also be able to prepare briefs on the cities you will initially visit on your way to the Valley of the Deep. Go in safety, my friends. Our peace, the peace of all may ride on this mission. You undertake a responsibility that is rightfully mine. Thank you. I will not rest easy until you are safely returned.” Cambion embraced each of us and left the room.
***
Devon arrived soon thereafter with prepared briefs for visits to the City of the Cliffs and the City of the Wide River. These were roughly on the way to the City of the Deep Valley and would not delay the mission. The attitude of these cities toward the recent aggressive campaigns from the Lord of the Deep Valley were unknown, but their proximity made the Lord’s influence more likely. Finding out the level of influence and the underlying sympathies of the rulers and people would be part of our mission.

Devon explained that we would be accompanied by only four guards and four men to handle the baggage wagons. He explained that most diplomatic missions travelled with greater entourages. Our mission required greater discretion and mobility. I responded that Gar and Tro provided all the security we would need. Devon looked at them, clearly recalling his first interaction with Tro, and agreed.

The entire King’s household was charged with preparing us for the mission so that we could be ready to begin the journey the next day. It was late at night when we completed the preparations. Gar escorted me to our bed. Tro came onto the terrace to assure my safety, then retired to his room. I suspect Trevor waited for him there.

A gentle night passed between Gar and me. Fear and worry dogged my dreams, though Gar’s physical presence and reassuring touching comforted me.
***
The morning dawned bright. A contented Tro led a sleepy Trevor to the terrace for breakfast. Trevor asked among yawns, “Simon, how does it work? I’ve read the ancient texts that explain about special qualities of their” referring to Gar and Tro “semen. But how all that cock fits in my ass is beyond my comprehension. “

I agreed that it was indeed miraculous and that I was thankful for the miracle. Trevor agreed with a grin. Tro petted Trevor contentedly.

Chapter Nine

Our guards and attendants met us near the gate. Cambion walked with us from the King’s House, urging all speed and caution. The king’s health was ever more troubled.

Our journey, on foot since beasts of burden were not found in our land, would take three days to the City of High Cliffs, our first destination. My heart was troubled with worry as we set out, leaving the walls that distinguished our home city behind. I already missed the security they offered. Trevor walked at my side our four guards behind us followed by four men pulling two carts. Gar and Tro disappeared into the forests that lined the road reappearing from time to time. While they brought fruits and other edibles back I knew they were patrolling for any threats.

I missed the happy month Gar and I had spent living free in the forest. It was a joy to follow him through the forest among the tree tops. I prayed we could one day return to that existence.
***
The very act of walking restored my spirit. I could feel Trevor’s concerns also lift. Gar and Tro reveled in the freedom of the forest. The sense of adventure overtook our entire party as we approached our first night’s stopping place. Gar and Tro had gone ahead to scout out a good location with some shelter and clean water. Gar came back to escort us the final distance. Tro waited with a trove of fine food he had collected. Our camp was quickly set up. The escort set up at a small distance, preferring separation from the ‘official’ group, despite my invitation to join us. Tro had a fire built for light and warmth. Trevor sat at his side, leaning against him. Gar came to sit beside me, wrapping me in his arms. The weight of our mission melted away. It was like a camping trip with my lover and good friends.

The camaraderie of our group by the fire called out for the telling of tales. Trevor asked how it was that Gar and I were together. He told that he had heard rumors about the city and the King’s House, but he was curious about the details. I retold the story, saddened by the terrible events that left me beaten and wounded and of Gar’s rescue, then our life in the forest. I asked Trevor to remind me of how he had come to work in the royal library. His youth had been similar to my own, being a distant relative of the king’s line. He father and generations back had served the king with their scholarship, comparable to my own family and their mercantile responsibilities. He had been in the royal school a few years after me, though had heard of my academic success from many of the faculty. It seems many, like the royal librarian himself who had taught me, took satisfaction in my recent elevation. I demurred.

“And what of our Tro? I wonder about his origins and how he came to suffer in the Valley of the Deep. Is this something you can share?” I asked Tro.

Tro sighed sadly.

“Tro, dear, I would know if only to share the burden of your pain and to do what I can to ease your heart” Trevor encouraged while touching him with tenderness.

Tro looked at us each, struggling for how to begin.

“As Gar will tell you, I have learned to understand him from his expressions and signs as well as his few words. Tell us as you can” I offered.
Tro stood and walked a short distance from the fire, his head bowed in remembrance of times past. He took the posture of holding a baby, then pointed to himself. I began to interpret. “You were only a small child.” He nodded. He mimed a man attacking, then repeated his action. “Many men assaulted you.” He shook his head and motioned a large belly. “Your mother, still with child, was attacked.” He gestured dragging away, then the putting on of chains. “Your mother was captured and taken to the Deep Valley.” Tro despondently subsided to Trevor’s side, his head in his hands. Trevor tried to comfort him with touches and kisses. I continued my guess of Tro’s story.

“Your mother gave birth, but was not with you long.” Tro gave a small sob.

“You were given over to a life as a beast until you came to us.”

I turned to Gar. “I never saw a female of your people. How do you think Tro’s mother could have been captured?”

Gar looked thoughtful. He swept his hand through the air. “A long time ago” I interpreted. He nodded. He made the gesture of holding a baby, then an opening of his arms. “Your women were free and in the open.” He mirrored Tro’s gesture of attack, then closed his arms protectively. “Thereafter, you keep your women in safety, apart from the world.”

“Which leaves me curious,” I continued, “as to how you have children. Every Man of the Forest seems to show interest only in other men, something for which I am personally very thankful, but does leave a question.”
Gar chuckled and embraced me. Here Trevor spoke up. “I read in the ancient texts about this. They say that the People of the Forest mate only rarely with the opposite sex. Their very long lives obviate a need for short generations, like ours. They mate only when they need to repopulate. I suppose that contributes to men loving men, for which, to echo you, Simon, I am very grateful.”

Tro, still looking sad, responded to Trevor’s comforting attentions, pulling him closer, seeking to be within Trevor’s embrace.
Gar led me a little distance into the shadows and offered his attentions to me. A while later I heard Trevor begin to gasp, then Tro sigh with satisfaction. Gar pulled me to him, bringing me to erection with his hands. He rolled onto his side, presenting his ass and snuggling back against me as we spooned. It was a slow, comforting exchange ending with a soft climax and a deep feeling of love. We lay entwined until morning.
***
At daybreak, Gar and Tro had gone off after fresh food. Trevor and I, with the help of our guards and others began to pack up our camp. Trevor took me aside and asked, “Simon, do you make love to Gar?”

“I thought that was obvious” I laughed my reply.

“No, I mean, do you make love to him?”

“Oh” I said understanding. “Do I fuck him? Yes I do. It is one of the many things we do together.”

“I’m trying to not be rude or ask out of turn, but I was wondering if he was satisfied with you? I know it sounds silly, but Gar and Tro have such huge cocks and I feel so inferior. You are massive compared to me. I don’t want to disappoint Tro.”

“Trevor, there is much about a Man of the Forest I don’t understand. And I share your amazement at their prodigious sexuality. Somehow it is the love, not the size of your cock that seems to matter most. Gar seems very tight to me.”

Trevor took my hand and looked me in the face. “Last night was the first time I fucked Tro. He seemed to want that as comfort after telling his tale.”

“Was he comforted?”

“Yes I’m sure he was, but more than that, he sought me out through the night. It was beautiful to make love to him. I’ve known I desire him, but in these short days, I’ve come to love him.”
During these comments, unbeknownst to Trevor, Tro and Gar had returned with food and stood behind him. Tro placed the food in its protective leaf on the ground and approached Trevor from behind, wrapping Trevor in his arms.
***
Through the course of the second day’s journey, Tro appeared with greater frequency than the day before. He was obvious in his special attentions to Trevor throughout the day, often bringing a specially selected treat from his forest foraging for Trevor alone.

That night’s camp was even more genial than the previous night, everyone staying away from distressing subjects. Trevor lured Tro away from the fire shortly after dark. Gar and I lingered by the fire. Gar held me particularly closely. “Are you distressed, dear Gar?” I asked him.

“Danger” was his reply.

“Yes, I feel it mounting, too. With each step closer to the Valley of the Deep. Tomorrow we will be near the City of Cliffs and will need to be on our guard. Tonight, I think we can still be relaxed, but I will ask the captain of the guard to have a man on alert.”

Gar snuggled closely when I returned. The heat of his body, the strength of his muscles and gentleness of his touch brought me quickly to arousal. As he sucked me, all thoughts of the peril to come was overcome, as was I. I was oblivious to the approach of the man in the night until Tro came bowling out of the darkness, tackling him. Gar, too was instantly alert, though encumbered by my body, fully penetrated by his still hard cock.

“Simon, it is me, your guard” cried a frightened voice.

“Let him go, Tro.”

Tro released the guard, helping him to his feet, apologizing with that gesture. Trevor came running into the scene followed by the other guards and helpers. Gar was gently withdrawing from me, now in front of the gathered group. Assuming what dignity I could, I stood, with Gar’s help.

“Thank you Tro. I see that despite your other attachments, you remain my protector. And you,” to the guard, “are you unhurt?”

“Oh yes sir. I am sorry. I thought I heard a call of alarm and came to investigate.”

“I’m afraid that may have been me” I lamented. “Passion seems to have gotten the better of me. I’ll try to be more discreet hereafter. In any case, thank you for your attention to duty. This is a reminder to us all of the danger we may meet on this mission. I am impressed that you each have responded so admirably. Now, if you all will excuse Gar and me, I haven’t gotten off yet and was on the verge when I inadvertently alerted you.”

The assembled party dispersed. Gar took his duty and my cock in hand and with his mouth covering my own in a kiss to prevent any other exclamations, finished me thoroughly. My whispered ‘I love you, Gar’ was returned with general hugging and closeness. The rest of the night passed peacefully.

Chapter Ten

Out next day’s journey brought us within sight of the City of Cliffs. It stood high above the valley, built to the edge of the sheer cliffs of its name. It was a formidable fortress, approachable only up a steep, jaggedly winding road. Defensive towers guarded a plaza at the gates. We resolved to wait until the following morning before mounting to the city and announcing our official mission, not wanting to venture up the precipitous entrance road in the gathering dusk.

Our camp that night was very tense, each of us with his own anxieties. While the intentions of the leaders of the City of Cliffs were unknown and might well be friendly, the imposing nature of the city’s appearance filled me with foreboding. Taking council with the captain of our tiny force, I resolved to leave our guards and baggage in camp and ascend with only Trevor, Gar and Tro.

These last two would be disguised as my beasts according to Cambion’s plan. Gar readily assumed the iron collar, holding the heavy length of chain in his hands. Tro held the collar in trembling hands. Even though the collar had been cleverly made with a soft lining and an easy catch, I could see Tro’s struggle with this symbol of his debasement.

“Tro, I ask this only for our king and his heir. I cannot but imagine the pain it must bring you.”

With a resolute look, Tro put on the collar. He stood tall and proud, though with a look of menace and ferocity beyond my greatest fears. It was only when he turned to give Trevor a kiss that I realized that his look was assumed for his part and not in anger toward me. I donned my ambassadorial robes and took up the ends of the chains. We began our ascent to the City of Cliffs.

Morning had come with a shroud of mist hovering over the city. We could not see our destination as we had the previous evening, though the path led only to the city gates.

Trevor asked as we walked, “Wasn’t Tro bound hand and foot when he came to our city?”

“You make a good point, Trevor. I am counting on the minimal bonds of Gar and Tro to indicate my superior control and power over them. It will be their performance that lends that credence. In any case, I can only just bare to have Tro in the collar, it asks too much.” Tro turned to me and stroked my cheek gently. “Thank you, Tro.” Gar turned and looked at me with contrived hautiness. “Yes, thank you, too Gar, but I think it is not the same burden for you.” Gar used the chain to pull me toward him and kissed me playfully.

“I also look forward to having this business done, so we can get back to loving. In the meantime, onward” I ordered with affected authority.
***
After a strenuous climb we arrived at the plaza, a broad platform bordered only by a sheer drop and the vertical walls of the city. While the space could accommodate a fair number of people, the single, narrow road and lack of any cover left it vulnerable to defenders upon the walls.

Gar and Tro began their show of ferocity as we emerged from the mist into the plaza. I held their chains to restrain them, thankful for their devotion as their strength greatly dwarfed mine and could easily have overpowered me. Trevor stood at my side holding the emblems of my office. It was but a moment before a guard challenged us from atop a tower. I explained that I was the ambassador from the City of the Walls, come to speak with his city’s council. The City of Cliffs was governed by a body of citizens, not a king as was customary in our lands. This made them both the subject of suspicion and envy, particularly among those cities with less benevolent kings than my own. The guard called for us to wait while he summoned the proper authority.
I could feel many eyes peering down at us through windows and arrow slits, though saw no one. After a time the gates opened showing a small gathering of five men. Each wore ornaments of office, though judging by how they lay askew, the chains and badges had been hastily put on. A large man stepped forward.

“Welcome, Your Excellency. Our council is curious as to the honor of this visit.” He eyed our small party warily, particularly Gar and Tro who strained against the chains I held.

“We come on behalf of the King of the City of Walls. There are events afoot across the land and he would know how you stand” I replied.

“You may enter our city, but what of these beasts? Have I your assurance that none will come to harm?”

Tro reached out, grabbing Trevor by the ankle, pulling him to his chest. Trevor cried out with surprise and apparent fear. “Hold!” I shouted. With a snarl, Tro glared at me. I tugged at the chain. Tro released Trevor grudgingly. “I’ll answer for them for they will obey me” I uttered threateningly. Tro looked chastised yet surly.

We were admitted to the city and led to a great hall. The officials took positions in a row of chairs on a raised dais at one end. The assembled crowd kept their distance from Gar and Tro, who grappled and wrestled, making angry noises. I stilled them with a word. Their head man look relieved then gestured for me to speak.

“Members of the Counsel, I bring greetings from the King of the City of Walls. A short time past, we were visited by a host bearing arms from the City of the Deep Valley.”

“Yes, we too saw them in the plain below our cliffs” responded the head man.

“Subsequently, we have been visited by an ambassador of that place who implied threats and asked for tribute.”

The members of the Counsel murmured among themselves, but did not respond in our hearing.

I continued. “My king asks how the City of the Cliffs would respond to aggression and if his city can depend upon our mutual support, pursuing peace if possible.

Again a murmuring. The head man stood to address our party. “Your Excellency, we, too pursue peace, wishing most of all to be left alone and untroubled by the struggles of low landers. Still your king deserves our deliberation prior to making a reply. Be warned that the opinions of many will likely be expressed and our way is of consensus. We offer you hospitality while we convene.” He gestured toward an officious person near the entrance and indicated that we should follow him to the offered accommodation.

The official led us up many winding stairs until we reached a spacious room in a high tower. We entered through the only door. A row of narrow windows looked out into space. Only when approaching near could one see the ground far below. This tower must be perched on the edge of the cliff. Still the room was comfortably furnished with a fire on the hearth to warm us. Food and drink waited on a table to one side.

The official addressed me, “Your Excellency, in all likelihood you will be our guest until tomorrow. Our deliberations progress slowly. Please be comfortable.” He looked warily at Gar and Tro. “Do your, uh, beasts require anything?”

With a fearsome snarl, Gar leapt across the room toward the man, allowing him just enough time to flee through the door. It banged shut and bolts were thrown across from the outside. We were locked in.

I feared perfidy of our hosts. I tried to speak calming words to my fellow captives, suggesting that the bolted door had no specific meaning. Time passed slowly. I examined the windows looking to see if they offered any possible means of escape should my fears be realized. They were even narrower than I had realized. My chest and shoulders were too wide to squeeze through. Gar and Tro would certainly not fit. As day turned to night,

I admitted the worst, we had been imprisoned.
It was then that Trevor stepped up. “I can fit through the window, I’m sure” he claimed. He stood on the sill, proving that with an effort he could squeeze through.

“You’ll fall to your death once you’re out” I cautioned.

Trevor poked his head out calling back, “There is a chink in the wall that could be a handhold. It’s out of my reach, but Gar or Tro could swing me up to it. From there I think I can get to a balcony.”

I tried to see by sticking my head out the adjoining window. I could see the small gap that Trevor pointed out. I also saw the precipitous drop to jagged rocks far below.

“Trevor, I cannot allow you to risk yourself like this. We will have to stay and find out what the Counsel has in mind.”

“Face it Simon” Trevor returned, “They are either in league with the lord of the Deep Valley or planning to exchange us for promises of protection. Escape is our only chance to complete the king’s mission. I have to try.”

I embraced him, full of admiration for his courage and ingenuity. Trevor again stepped to the sill, calling for Tro to come to him. As he began to squeeze out, Tro pulled him back, barring the window.

Trevor pleaded with him “Tro, I’ve got to do this. Please help me.”

Tro refused, surely fearing the danger to his newly found lover.
Gar approached Tro, grasping his shoulders to assure him. Trevor again stepped on the sill of the second window indicating that Gar should lean out the one nearest the chink. Tro turned away, too afraid to watch. Gar leaned as far into the window as his massive torso would allow, extending his arm toward Trevor. Trevor could not reach, but before I could haul him back he leapt out the window. Tro and I called out in alarm but Gar caught him securely.

“Gar, thank god you caught me. Now swing me back and forth to build some momentum. When I say let go, release me. I can do this.”
I leaned as far out the window as I could to witness Trevor’s bravery. At Trevor’s signal, Gar began to swing Trevor back and forth across the sheer face of the tower. On the third swing Trevor shouted ‘now’. Gar released his grip. I watched as Trevor flew in an arc, scrabbling to find a hold on the tiny gap. Somehow his fingers found purchase. He hung for a moment searching for the balcony. With surprising grace, Trevor pushed off the wall and dropped to the balcony. My cry of relief reassured my companion giants, who were consumed with anxiety, unable to fit through the windows to watch.

It was less than a minute when we heard the bolts being drawn and the door open. Trevor entered the room in triumph. “There is no sign of a guard.

They must be very confident of the security of the tower. I spotted a way onto the city battlements. I think we could get near the gate. He led our band out of the room. We made our way as discretely as one could with our two massive companions as Trevor led. Our path took us near the hall where the city folk were gathered. Through the windows we could hear a small portion of the discussion. It was clear after only a few words that Trevor was right, they had planned to bargain our lives with the Lord of the Deep Valley.

We hurried on until our way was blocked by a guard house. Gar looked over the side of the wall for a moment, then disappeared over the side. I tried not to be alarmed. A moment later, his head appeared. He gestured for us to follow. He had found a series of breaks in the wall’s surface made by a long ago battle. The war engines must have been mighty to make even these small marks into the strong stone. While the handholds were within Gar and Tro’s reach, they exceeded my own and certainly Trevor’s. Gar saw me pause, then realized the difficulty. He climbed over the edge and signaled me to ride on his back. Trevor climbed onto Tro and thus we were able to escape.

We were barely on the ground when a great turmoil could be heard from within the walls. Our escape had been discovered. Anger was drown out by incredulity. Our escape was thought to be impossible. We stood back from the wall so as to be visible to the gathering crowd atop city’s wall.

“What word have you for the King of the City of Walls?” I shouted.

There was the usual murmuring, evidently about our magical powers needed to escape. Gar signaled to Tro. Together they roared and gestured terrifyingly. The crowd on the wall vanished. The head man appeared, apparently being pushed into view against his will.

“We meant you no harm, Your Excellency” he called, fear in his voice.

I replied, “The words of your counsel give lie to that statement.”

“Please understand our dilemma, we do not wish the City of the Walls harm.”

“And yet you would bargain our lives for your own safety. That may be a choice you later regret” I warned.

“Won’t you come inside so we can find reason among us?” He offered obsequiously.

Trevor touched my arm and spoke softly, “They know they can’t capture us, so he’s trying to delay us. Perhaps he has sent ahead to the Lord of the Deep Valley. We had best get on our way or we could be trapped on this narrow road.”

Taking Trevor’s advice, I responded to the head man, “We must decline your offer. Consider the consequences any form of alliance with the Lord of the Deep Valley may bring. You know our king to be fair minded, peace loving and honest. He is not, however, tolerant of treachery. Do as you must. Farewell.”

We began our descent slowly to maintain an appearance of ease. We had not gone far when a cloud of dust could be seen far away on the road. We sped up our descent, realizing that the cloud of dust was being raised by a large number of men rushing toward the narrow approach to the City of Cliffs. We were being cut off. Gar grabbed me about the waist and bounded off the side of the cliff, Tro followed suit with Trevor. Instead of falling, we dangled in midair, Gar and Tro having grabbed a branch of long dead tree protruding from the cliff face. Moments later a jumble of men, heavily armed rushed past, ascending to the City of Cliffs by the way we had just come down. Gar and Tro swung us back onto the road. We ran the remainder of the way down to our meeting place with our escort.

I informed the captain of all that had happened in the city. He replied, “Sir, I am relieved that you have escaped. I feared you were pursued when that army passed. During the day, a man raced down from the City of Cliffs and then off to the west, toward the Valley of the Deep. We must move on, once they discover you are gone, they will pursue us.”

We set out at once, eager to get as much lead as we could. The mountains came to an abrupt end after two hours of hurried walking the landscape opening into a broad plain. We took a circuitous route along the edge of the mountains away from the road toward a forest just visible in the far distance. It was much further than I had first thought, taking us until well into the night to find shelter among the trees.

I didn’t know if we had been pursued, only that I had not seen our pursuers the many times I looked back. Fortunately, our route was in the general direction of the City of the River. We rested until dawn, then set out for our next destination. I wondered what our reception there would be.

rsny845...

You are an exceedingly talented writer with a classical imagination that draws one in so that the reader forgets
they are reading a story. Almost immediately you become
a part of the happening....and that is not easy to do.
Excellent writing, an exciting story, and yes....a highly
arousing one sexually.

Thanks for some enjoyable reading. I feel like I have been edging for days.....and I am sure my chair seat will probably
need a good cleaning...or at least a good drying out!

I will look forward to the next chapters with hopes that the ending will be a long time cuming.
