here in western illinois, gas was $3.37 yesterday morning, but the interesting thing is that it went down to $3.27 yesterday afternoon, they had said on the news earlier today that Illinois is one of the highest in the nation as far as gas prices goes, next to California.

also on the news, there was a gas station in Wisconsin that turned off the pumps for 24 hours in protest to the oil companies, the owner of that gas station has hopes that other stations in the near future will do the same. they also have been saying on the news lately that there is supposed to be a gas shortage right now, if that really is true, why not ration the shit then, it was done back in the early 70's and again back in 1980, and the cars back then sure as hell used a lot more gas than those of today.

this is where the oil companies are winning, all the fucked up politicians who claim to be concerned for the consumers are just giving a bunch of lip service as usual, the oil companies are paying off most of the politicians in one way or another, and it's not just democrats or republicans, it's both of them.

now is really a good time to cut back on extra driving, and maybe start car pooling or walking or riding a bike.

It's all about politics and gouging...that's for sure.

Now would be a good time to stay home. I don't mean a sit down strike.
I mean don't go anywhere unless it's necessary. After about a week of empty ball parks, theatres, beaches, race tracks, ect. gas prices will be lowered. Just put the pinch on the rich business owners and they will lower gas prices. Also, this fall vote out ALL the incumbents.

I think it's more a question of not levying extremely high taxes on gas, as opposed to subsidizing it.

yes, what he said is accurate.

Personally, though, I would prefer the high taxes on gasoline over the stupid fucking traffic laws/traffic cops/traffic court system we have in the States. Both things accomplish the same thing: generating revenue. The taxing route seems more honest and less obnoxious, though, and it pays for roads with money from exactly those who should be paying for it: the people who drive the most. (as opposed to the ones who happen to get pulled over either because of the color of their skin, the flashiness of their car, or by complete arbitrary chance)

Earlier today we put some gas in the tank for our weekend get away and here in NYC we paid $3.59 per gallon. We needed to get some in the tank, usually we wait until we are on the road and away from the city to fill the tank up. A bit of a difference once we get out of the city.

This one is better and certainly higher octane. Plus with care you get free 'extras'.
Unfortunately, it doesn't tell you WHERE the station is. Vital information.

Love GasBuddy.com, tho'.
