To my knowledge, the "race card" was an invention by racist whites who wanted to stifle legitimate concerns from aggrieved African Americans.
I don't think "playing the race card" even exists. Do black folk get a little bit paranoid from constantly living in a society predicated on white supremacy? Statistically, it is bound to happen from time to time just from the circumstances and set of variables in question... but does it happen outside of that statistical range?
No, the instances of black folk jumping the gun and assuming someone is racist when they are not, occurs less often than it is statistically supposed to.
