Would it be no better than to point out grammar flaws? Mistypes in punctuation? Split infinitives? (Remember, the adverb comes after the infinitive.)

To boldly go where no grammarian has gone before! Sorry, just had to throw that in. We all know that grammatically, it should be "To go boldly..."
My parents were very loving, but also very strict in many areas. Generally, a first infraction would merit a lecture, a subsequent infraction would result in the dreaded phrase, "go get a switch." The one thing that I knew for certain would get me a thorough ass-beating was to lie to them. Those early lessons taught me that it is better to take the consequences that come with telling the truth, rather than risk the much worse consequences of lying.
I wish more parents, especially these days, would teach their children this important lesson. It has stuck with me to this day. The hard part of the lesson that I have had to teach myself is to be honest, and then deal with the people who cannot deal with that honesty. I am who I am; if someone has a problem with that, it is their problem, not mine.
I agree, Dee, that the liars are pitiful and frustrating. Call 'em out when you can, ignore 'em the rest of the time.
