The notion of a rigged DNC primary came from DNC insiders, not to mention the curious murder of Seth Rich and the revelations of the great 2016 DNC email leak. Oh sorry, that's right. That was old evil Vlad and his russia-bots!

I have read that Salon piece which I found to be another torturous piece of logic by them. I don't think the GOP "fears" minority voters at all. I can't see why they would, a lot of minority voters voted for the orange oompa loompa at the last election. I also still can't find out what has made it so hard for these people to vote, if they are eligible.

Wow... no less than five (if I counted correctly) bullshit Republican/conservative talking points/conspiracy theory/abject denial of facts combined with outright lies and distortions. And all in only two paragraphs. And two people who actually "liked" that bullshit.

Yes, the notion of a rigged DNC came from certain liberals including disgruntled supporters of Sanders, but Trump & Co. (including his Russian propaganda cohorts) played that to the hilt.

The Salon piece, NOT so tortuous, considers a number of facts, including Sander's OWN dismissal of the alleged rigging, the acknowledgement of a primary system whose rules are in need of revision, AND the fact that Sanders quite simply just never garnered the number of black voters that Hillary had (and never would've).

Suggestions that it was "rigged" therefore is nothing less than a DENIAL of those voters and the primary results.

But while you dismiss THAT, you choose to invoke what you call "the curious murder of Seth Richards" [see: Murder of Seth Rich - Wikipedia - another "tortuous piece," no doubt]

THEN you make the absurd assertion that "a lot" of minority voters voted for Trump [see "tortuous piece" no. 3: Trump won with lowest minority vote in decades, fueling divisions]

followed by the ALL SO TYPICAL dismissal of Republican efforts to DELIBERATELY disenfranchise minority and liberal leaning voters.

Right. YOU can't find out what has made it so hard for these people to vote. That FIGURES, champ.

Perhaps you think (like you wrote in that other thread) they're all too busy "sitting on their arse watching Oprah and cashing welfare checks" eh?

Yes, the system doesn't work so well and has been manipulated for years in most democracies that I can think of. The sour grapes from the Bernie camp are certainly evident but so is the collusion behind closed doors to ensure that the voters made the "right" decision.

But while you dismiss THAT, you choose to invoke what you call "the curious murder of Seth Richards" [see: Murder of Seth Rich - Wikipedia - another "tortuous piece," no doubt]

The links this guy had to the email dump make his supposedly random murder very odd. He was an almost perfect candidate for whistle blower. But this is conjecture and probably should be put aside.

I meant that he polled much better then the other GOP candidates.

I've not dismissed the attempts by the GOP to manipulate the voter base by restricting access to voting. And I now know a whole lot more thanks to Tex. But both sides of the hall do this, have done it and will continue to do it. Please stop trying to make it a Republican issue.

As for the horrendous criminality uncovered in the DNC leak, it doesn't matter where it came from at the end of the day. No one has ever passed doubt over the veracity of the documents, only the source. This in itself in very interesting.

As for the claims by US Intelligence as to the source of said DNC emails, their own report is full of holes and provides nothing solid to base any of that on. Biggest hunch since the WMD debacle. The entire report is full of "assessments" based on watching endless hours of RT.

There have been plenty of citations here to back up claims of Republicans working to restrict voter access. Care to provide the same for Democrats doing so?

First there was this. REPUBLICAN vote rigging 101:

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court last month ruled that the congressional map drawn by the Republican legislature in 2011 “clearly, plainly and palpably violates” the commonwealth’s Constitution....by unfairly favoring the GOP. Although there are more registered Democrats than Republicans in the state, Republicans hold 13 of 18 congressional seats....It demanded a quick redrawing of the lines so that 2018 elections could be held in fairer districts.

The GOP leaders asked the U.S. Supreme Court to intervene, but... the Supreme Court on Monday denied a request from Pennsylvania Republicans to delay redrawing congressional lines..."

Supreme Court refuses to block Pa. ruling invalidating congressional map - The Washington Post

So now the underhanded ------------------ are resorting to THIS:

BREAKING: PA Republicans To Try and Impeach the State Supreme Court Rather than Uphold its Ruling!

After all, why should THEY have to abide by rulings, laws, and court decisions?

An at best only half way competent county executive who REALLY exceeded the "peter principle"

The thing that really sucks and is REALLY scary is that he is NOT "term limited"

Tommy Thompson was in his FOURTH term when he went to be HHS secretary

Ex-Governor Bobby (fkng) Jindal so fucked conservative majority Louisiana that voters elected a Democrat as governor over his Republican challenger. Scott Walker and Wisconsin Republicans are trying to avoid the same thing by, in effect, SUSPENDING democracy.

Spoiler alert: Trump and Co would do the SAME fkn thing on a NATIONAL LEVEL if they felt they HAD to.

(Remember you read it here first.)

Since the thread has migrated to some gerrymandering issues, here's Pennsylvania's 7th Congressional District.

This has been called "Goofy kicking Donald Duck". It's almost as if The Onion drew up a district.

Pennsylvania_7th_Congressional_District.png

What did they do? Go street by street and include or disclude perspective voters from the district?
