Leaked video reveals a GOP plan to intimidate Black and brown voters in Houston | Salon.com

Donald Trump's neofascist slogan, "Make America Great Again," was always best understood as a threat against nonwhite people, women, the LGBTQI community and others for whom "the good old days" were in many ways not very good at all.

... the Republican Party and his followers are still continuing with his crusade.

Because Republicans understand they cannot free win free and fair elections, their party — and the larger white right — is simply trying to stop Black and brown people from voting in Georgia (and soon in many other states as well).

This Jim Crow-style campaign is part of a nationwide strategy by the Republican Party and its agents to keep those Americans who support the Democratic Party from being able to exercise their constitutionally-guaranteed right to vote.

Today's Jim Crow Republicans have mated white supremacy and neofascism, in search of creating something like Russian autocrat Vladimir Putin's "managed democracy."

The result is a horrible mixture of right-wing racial authoritarianism and anti-democratic fervor. In their attempt to create a new type of American apartheid, the Republicans and their agents are willing to use all means available, legal, quasi-legal or illegal.

As revealed Thursday by Common Cause Texas, the Republican Party in Harris County — which contains Houston and is the third most-populous county in the nation — is planning to organize what is described as an "Election Integrity Brigade" of thousands of pro-GOP election workers and poll watchers.

This group of Republican operatives will be sent into predominantly Black and brown communities to engage in de facto acts of voter intimidation and harassment under the pretext of stopping "voter fraud."

As America embraces early voting, GOP hurries to restrict it - ABC News

Nearly seven of every 10 voters cast their ballots before Election Day in 2020. Republicans are moving to make it harder for that to happen again, potentially affecting the voting preferences of millions of Americans.

The GOP's campaign to place new restrictions on mail-in and early voting in certain states will force voters to contend with new rules on what have quickly become popular and proven methods of casting ballots.

Though it is difficult to forecast how exactly the changes will affect voter turnout in the years ahead, critics argue that the proposals target a voting method that has had growing appeal for both Democrats and Republicans, and will add additional and needless bureaucratic hurdles to casting ballots before Election Day.

“They’re trying to make it a hassle to vote,” said Dixie Davis, a 33-year-old seamstress in Fort Worth, Texas, who voted early in the last election. “I feel like voting should be convenient — it’s like the most basic service a government should provide in a democratic society.”

It's racist to believe that someone is incapable of going to get an ID card so they can vote. I support voter ID.

If you've followed this thread, or the news, you know there are more issues involved--registration purges, polling places and hours, onsite intimidation, availability of drop boxes, early and absentee voting, even the ability to provide water for people waiting hours in line--than just ID cards.

In addition many, probably most of the "someones" in question do actually ALREADY have one of those ballyhoo'd all important "Government issued Photo ID's"

Just NOT one that is "acepted" and that is becasue states like NC before they came up with the list of GIPID's they wou accept and "voter ID's" spent "tax payer money" to have studies done to determine:

What types of ID's do people that vote by at least 60/40 R over D have ??

What types of ID's do people that vote by at least 60/40 D over R have (or could EASILY get) ??

What types of ID's do all state residents regardless of how they may vote HAVE or could EASILY get ?

Take a SWAG at which of the three lists became "the list" ????

You also forgot how they all the sudden had "double standard " for "residency" both if you are a "state resident" and just where in the state you "reside" based on if you were/are a |college student" or NOT

For example

You move from PA to NC and live there "full time" for 7 years at an address in Durham that gets mailed delivered to it by the USPS , while going to Duke, undergrad and then Law school" but according to "the law, no you are NOT a NC resident but some pretty young thing from your same town in PA who moves to NC "to go to college" but drops out after one semester or never actually enrolls and works at Hooters for the last 6 & 1/2 years and is your "next door neighbor" who you sometimes hook up with has been a state resident and thus able to vote for at LEAST 5 years IE 2 presidential elections

OR

You are going to UNC and are from some little Mayberry on the other end of the state so "they can NOT tell you that you are not an NC state resident, AND you live and have lived full time across the street from the above guy going to Duke for the last three years, well according to "the law " you still "reside" back in Mayberry even though you have not been there in 3 years and your single mom, mom who always only rented moved to Florida with her then BF 2 & /1'2 years ago and also has never returned so "in theory" if you want to vote you have to go back to Mayberry, even though if you do you will not be able to vote there either because the only "GIPID" you have says you live in Durham but the "prom queen" from your High school back in Mayberry who dropped out of UNC after one sememster and now work at that same Hooters and the above Hooters girl and is her room mate can and has voted in Durham in the last 2 Federal elections.

All because "they" think that college students will vote by at least 60/40 D over R so lets make sure they either can not vote at all or that it will be harder and made to be harder than it otherwise needs to be.

Yes, the voter suppression effort has taken so many forms, I figured my list wasn't comprehensive. Thanks for pointing out these additional strategies.

On Friday, Superior Court Judge Christopher Coury ordered the Arizona Senate to halt its recount of Maricopa County’s 2.1 million ballots from the November election, saying he wants to ensure the recount fully complies with Arizona law. He asked for more information by Monday morning on the audit’s policies and procedures.

You might ask what “policies and procedures” he’s talking about. Let’s review:

  • No evidence exists that Maricopa County’s tally was fraudulent. In fact, two recounts, including a hand recount, already verified the results.
  • Republicans in the Arizona Senate, some of whom were behind the original “Stop the Steal” movement that culminated in the Jan. 6 riot, simply did not like the way both earlier recounts were conducted, mostly because they were not involved, so they sued to recount the ballots using THEIR system.
  • Of course, they’re only interested in recounting the votes for President and US Senate, both won by Democrats. All Republican victories were evidently hunky dory.
  • Even the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, which is 4-1 Republican, certified the vote and refused to cooperate with Senate Republicans.
  • The Republican Senate sued the County and a judge ordered the ballots sent to the Senate (which certainly was not prepared to receive truckloads of ballots).
  • The first company hired to conduct the recount turned out to be associated with Trump and in legal jeopardy over another project.
  • Republicans had no audit firm to count the votes, so the ballots sat... FOR WEEKS; no one had any idea where to store them or who would count them.
  • The Senate eventually contracted with the Veterans Memorial Coliseum as the site to store and count the ballots.
  • The Florida-based firm eventually hired to conduct the audit is Cyber Ninjas, whose CEO Doug Logan has promoted conspiracy theories about the election; his company also has zero experience with election audits.
  • Assisting Logan will be Jovan Pulitzer, another election conspiracy nutball and favorite of election fraud conspiracy theorists, who claims to have invented technology that can detect fraudulent ballots and
  • whom Georgia’s Republican secretary of state recently derided as a “failed inventor and a failed treasure hunter”
  • The Senate refuses to say who is paying for the audit; they agreed to pay Cyber Ninjas $150,000, but it’s estimated to cost up to ten times that amount, and dark money groups are making up the difference.
  • The far-far-right One America News Network (OANN) has launched a campaign to raise $150,000, but when asked about the funding Senate Republicans say, “It doesn’t matter who paid for it.” (BTW, their search for private funds follows immediately after Arizona Republicans passed a bill forbidding outside money to help pay for elections).
  • Nor will they discuss Cyber Ninjas’ CEO Doug Logan’s role in the “Stop the Steal” movement, going so far as to ban reporters’ questions.
  • Republicans are refusing journalists access to the audit (except for OANN), arguing that the Coliseum doesn’t have enough space for the recount and observers (forget about the fact it’s a 15,000-seat arena).
  • journalists spoke with election experts about the audit—organizations that, unlike Cyber Ninjas, actually have experience with election audits.
  • Reporter Jen Fiefield, who was the only local journalist on the floor, reported that training and security are lacking, and rules appear to be made “on the fly.”
  • She was later banned from covering the audit.

SO YEAH, THESE B----------------DS ARE UP TO NO GOOD... AS USUAL.

While an unknown company with ties to QANON are busy conducting a so-called "AUDIT" of Arizona's November 2020 votes (that is, just the ones whose results THEY DON'T LIKE) and in COMPLETE SECRECY, the rest of the underhanded b---------------ds are engaged in FIXING THE VOTE IN THEIR FAVOR in multiple other states and in a myriad of WAYS,

Republic reporter escorted from Arizona audit site after posting tweet

An Arizona Republic reporter was escorted from the Arizona election audit site on Friday morning after posting a photo showing a former Republican legislator at a ballot-counting table.

The photo showed a ballot, with no markings discernible, on a vertical stand in front of former state Rep. Anthony Kern, R-Glendale.

The reporter, Ryan Randazzo, was told his press privileges were revoked. He left the building as requested.

Randazzo was observing the audit, along with two other Arizona journalists, as part of an agreement with audit organizers to monitor the proceedings.

Randazzo had spotted Kern tallying votes at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum as part of the unprecedented review ordered by the Arizona Senate.

Every so often I still find myself taken aback by some of the s----- that goes down in America. And I'm not talking about things that Republicans, the "far right" (not that there IS such a thing seeing as how that's what MOST of them are), and their pundits promoters and sooth-sayers do. THEY don't surprise me in the least, because I've already concluded that their is NOTHING too underhanded, unscrupulous, evil, and downright malicious for them to pull. NO conniving LOW, to which they will not stoop.

No, what continues to surprise ME is how sedately the rest of America lets them get AWAY with it. Yes there some sabre rattling about boycotts and the like. But that dies down while Republican state after state proceeds to do as the CHOOSE. Damn the law, propriety, or anything resembling it. They call that PRIVILEGE folks.

Take for instance what's going on in Arizona where some unknown entity, headed by QAnon affiliates are conducting a third "audit" of Arizona's votes from the 2020 presidential election. IN COMPLETE SECRECY. A right winged fascist rag OANN is reportedly the only major (?) news outlet given full access to the shenanigans. And when a reporter from another source ACTUALLY SPOTTED A CAPITOL INSURRECTIONIST COUNTING VOTES, they threw him out.

Speaking of which, IMAGINE THAT! Instead of this fkr being in jail for his part in TREASON, a Capitol RIOTER has the ballots of Arizona voters in his grubby little hands. Am I actually hearing that right?? WTF?? Now THAT'S SOME FKNG PRIVILEGE, eh? So where's the condemnation and outcry? From House and Senate Democrats, the DOJ, civil rights groups and activists? Why the silence??

#FRAUDIT - THE ARIZONA HOAX
DoJ warns Arizona officials over 2020 election audit

The Justice Department on Wednesday issued a warning in the Republican-run Arizona Senate-ordered audit of the 2020 election ballots, saying the audit could be in violation of federal voting and civil rights laws.

The warning comes amid scrutiny over the audit of nearly 2.1 million ballots from Arizona’s largest county, Maricopa, where election officials previously found no evidence of widespread voter fraud or other issues during the state’s 2020 presidential election.

The review — which perpetuates the falsehood that the election was stolen from ... Trump — has been decried by both Maricopa County’s Board of Supervisors, which is majority Republican, and the Arizona secretary of state, who is a Democrat. The results of the election have long been certified by the secretary of state.

"To paraphrase George Orwell," Columbia University history professor Eric Foner told CNN, "there are those who feel that some voters are more equal than others. And that's an attitude being implemented right now in some legislatures."

To the surprise of no one, much of this maneuvering disproportionately targets voters of color -- in particular Black voters, who played a critical role in helping Democrats secure both the White House and the US Senate.

The current assault on participatory democracy is disturbing not because it's new -- but rather because the country has been here so many times before. US history is rife with examples, many of them violent, of attempts to quash Black voting power, stretching back to at least the mid-19th century.

continued from above...

Of course it goes without saying that all of the right winged efforts to deny the LEGITIMACY OF OUR VOTES, and to impede, impugn, and even INTIMIDATE our RIGHT TO VOTE should only FIRE US UP to turn out again in FORCE... liberals, progressives, Blacks, Whites, young and old, and EVERYONE else who CARES ABOUT THE SURVIVAL OF OUR DEMOCRACY, in the face of an ever growing threat from right winged FASCISM, AUTHORITARIANISM, AND OLIGARCHY...

no matter how many hurdles, obstacles, suppressive efforts and downright DIRTY TRICKS these fkrs pull. It should enrage us to TURN OUT, SHOW UP AND EXERCISE OUR RIGHT TO VOTE, come hell or high water. So that we can AGAIN "STEAL" it from them (they THINK).
