A reminder to everyone. Walker lied. - Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker Admits It - YouTube
This was never about the tax payer, the state budget, fiscal responsibility... none of it. It's a political issue, plain and simple. It was always an attack on major Democratic financial sources to make it harder for them to generate money for their candidates in future Wisconsin elections. How many more times can one be blinded by their own beliefs about how bad Unions are, or how necessary privatization is supposed to be and think otherwise, when the man admits that his action to strip collective bargaining rights doesn't save any person or the state any money to everyone on camera? He claims he was trying to give people a choice to join a Union or not... but that choice already existed for public workers before he came in and tried to pull this facade over everyone's eyes. This video is the equivalent of the taping of the LAPD when Rodney King was beaten.

Will this finally end the dissent from the naysayers, or is their "seething anger" about how corrupt government is (especially under Democratic presidential rule) just too much to bear?

That's been the biggest victory of all in the decades old top-to-bottom propaganda, to make people on the bottom hate all the instutions out there designed to help those at the bottom AND will most likely remain on the bottom. We hate unions. We hate government. We hate taxes. We love companies. We love rich people.

Just a little note about all those statements in conservative news media that $30 million was spent to oust Republicans from office in the recall election (see Media Matters): the figure of $30 million is the estimated amount spent by ALL political organizations in the election, and, according to the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign, it was evenly divided between the two sides (reported in ABC Newshttp://mediamatters.org/research/201108120024 and Mother Jones).

If you really want to see where a lot of the money flows, try OpenSecrets.Org. It is going to surprise both conservatives, and liberals alike. You'd be surprised who got most of the money in the last election from Lawyers, and lobbyists.

That vid is undoubtedly damning, VB: thanks for posting it. I just hope that its full impact is understood and felt in WI and that it's an influence in getting Walker out of the governor's office this November.

05:15 "Now I just want to say in conclusion, Mr. Chairman, that we really are here at the center of a great debate over the purpose of government: whether there is such a thing as a public sphere, with public servants who perform duties on behalf of the public using resources that belong to the public, or is government going to be auctioned off to the highest bidder, to corporations who privatize and inevitably drive up the costs of government, drive up the cost of services, drive up taxes."

Wonder how that money was spent?

Proofreading: The Koch brother's Americans for Prosperity helpfully sent absentee ballots to Democrats in two of the Wisconsin recall districts. An 'unfortunate typo' told the voters that the ballot had to be received by August 11th in order to be counted. The actual cut-off is August 9th. The envelope for the 'absentee ballot' to be returned in read 'Absentee Ballot Processing Center”, but the address given is that of the Wisconsin Family Action PAC.

VOTE TAMPERING AND FRAUD!

I think Wisconsin is finally getting it. When I was watching the footage from the recalls earlier in the week, it was reassuring to see people get on camera, willing to announce that they were Republican or Democrat, and still stand together to go against these actions. However, I'm not sure if this message will reverberate out of Wisconsin and into the other states where collective bargaining rights and Unions are also being attacked.

Un-fucking-believable. And they face no legal consequences for this?
Raw Story said:
Matt Seaholm, the State Director for Americans for Prosperity, told TMJ4 that the misinformation was "just a typo."
Oh, right.

Some good news out of Wisconsin to start a dreary Wednesday.
The six-month saga that was Wisconsin’s state Senate recall movement ended Tuesday with Democrats retaining two seats – and Republicans still in possession of a week-old, razor-thin 17-16 majority.
On the fourth election day of the summer, two Democratic incumbents were victorious. Sen. Jim Holperin (D-Conover) beat challenger and tea party activist Kim Simac of Eagle River, and Sen. Bob Wirch (D-Pleasant Prairie) easily topped Republican lawyer Jonathan Steitz.
Bottom line: Republicans will continue to control the agenda in the Capitol, but it will be difficult for Gov. Scott Walker and other GOP leaders to get everything they want.
