You really can't help yourself. I can't decide whether it's pathetic, amusing or both.
You want to debate health policy????? Or do you know that you're against the ACA but don't know enough to advocate for the Republican position or advocate for any change to the way this country provides health care.? CSR's and Community Rating are basic stuff.

Of course, but you think you are going to quiz me? That's rich. Impressive that you think you can know both my opinion and fund of knowledge. And, even if you were correct, what difference, at this point, does it make?

Says the man who has shown no command of ANY of the issues regarding the healthcare debate of 2017. You are not alone. No one from the right wing on LPSG has shown any knowledge of actual healthcare policy. The ACA has a 1:3 community rating. All republican plans have a 1:5 community rating. How will that effect premiums?

As I said before, you just cannot help yourself. Like the fat guy snoring a few feet away in the Admiral's Club because he drank too much on the plane. Similarly annoying.

I can't help myself in getting one of you right wingers to talk policy. I'm sorry you find policy to be annoying in a politics forum.Wouldn't want to muddy the waters.

Why shouldn't he quiz you? This is a message board, not Sunday school.
He's trying to DETERmine your level of knowledge. So far you are confirming what was only his hunch.
The difference between your speaking from knowledge versus from agenda-driven ignorance is obvious.

And didn't you claim some sort of medical background a while back? (Perhaps I'm confusing you with another poster.)
If you HAVE a medical background, his questions should be easy for you.

All of which doesn't mean you don't know a lot about the subject.
But how are we to know?

Yes, I am a physician, have a graduate degree in health policy and have published in peer reviewed journals on this subject. And I couldn't possibly care any less who believes that, particularly someone whose mind is clearly firmly closed.

However, just FYI for you, very few physicians (nurses, pharmacists, etc) have any clue any clue at all what the ACA says, or what community ratings, for example, are. They have nothing to do with patient care, these are political and insurance issues that are not taught in medical school or in graduate medical education.

But you claim to be a physician. I quite realize that this material isn't taught in medical school, but many people are familiar with this sort of information because they are citizens and because they have curiosity.
A medical professional has additional reason to want to know this stuff. (Not sure, but I don't doubt that Indie's being a nurse has SOMEthing to do with the care he takes to inform himself)

Surely if you have a degree in health policy, you have all the more incentive to look into these matters.

And if you're posting on a bulletin board, it's just baffling that you won't demonstrate your possession of knowledge to your readers, among whom we find Indie, to be sure -- but also lots of other people quite destitute of horns and hooves.

Actually, I was just making the point that it is not unreasonable for @Industrialsize to doubt that a physician would know. That I actually do know what they are notwithstanding, anyone can copy the results of a Google search and if that's all it takes to be "authoritative" to readers here, that's a separate problem...which was sort of my other point.

Oh you have "secret" knowledge on healthcare policy that you have yet to share here. I am a healthcare voter and can assure you this nurse's knowledge does not come from google.

I think you're wrong honestly. Physicians taking care of patients know that on an individual level there is a charge for a service (largely irrelevant), an allowed amount and a payment amount from the insurance company. They do not know (and don't need or care to know in general) that if you take the sum of paid amounts and divide by allowed amounts, you get what has been called actuarial value. That aggregate calculation does not affect how we practice in any way.

Don't think I've claimed to have "secret" knowledge, did I?

And, you miss my point, Google or not, the ability to define simple terms doesn't tell you anything about what someone knows or does not know.

And, I don't think I've questioned your understanding of the topic, only that you seem so certain that you are always right and anyone who disagrees must be either stupid or evil.

Words words words, not one bit of healthcare policy, ever.

I have no clue how you expect me to reply and don't really care I guess. But arguendo, let's suppose I answered your definitions quiz. That's going to make you think I know more than you do now? And if it did, do you not see how silly that logic is? I've assumed you were just fucking with me because you disagree with what you assume my positions would be.

I'm suddenly smart now, right? Good grief.

What is the Republican healthcare plan and why do you support it over the ACA?

There is no coherent Republican healthcare plan. There is a bill passed by the House which has approximately zero chance of passing the Senate for many reasons, chief among them the Meadows-MacArthur amendment.

And the various proposals in the Senate had widely disparate provisions, none viable obviously.

Here's one for you. Do you see any flaws in PPACA? If yes, what are they and what fix would you propose?

I gotta run jump on a plane, but more later. We might actually find the second thing we agree on.
