Some people may need more preventive care than others... I happen to think that the best preventive care is aerobic exercise, weight lifting, eating healthy, natural remedies, meditation, acupuncture and chiropractic care... of which I do all out of my own volition and out of my own pocket... I do my own preventive care.

It's more often the insurance people... and military people abusing their government plans than Medicaid or Medicare abusers as far as what I see... I do clumsily lump the military people in with the Medicaid and Medicare because it's tax payer subsidized health care either way.

But you're right... Medicaid and Medicare has a more robust built in way for it to be abused less and I do see more insurance and military healthcare abuse. I can actually rationalize the frequent use of Medicaid and Medicare I've seen without much effort...

you're right.

I certainly hope not and am doing all I can to be as healthy as possible... I mean... I live in a red state that didn't expand Medicaid and I can't afford the NC insurance premiums... I don't have a choice but to care for myself...

... did I give you the impression that this was a choice for poor people? I'm just merely saying that we make do with what we've got and that usually isn't much. I certainly don't have the option of getting preventive care from the for-profit healthcare system in the state of NC... I cant afford it, it's wildly priced out of my range and so I am left to take care of myself on my own dime in the open market.

A lack of medical care is not a choice for poor people... give me single payer and I will use it... As a citizen, I fought for single payer healthcare and I was defeated by the Democratic Party... the liberals told me to fuck off and I did.

But am I proud of how I've managed to take care of myself on my own dime? You better believe it... I am proud of how I've had to make do with less and not take any handouts.
You can't perform your own preventative care, you can help by attending to modifiable risk factors. Blood work, colonoscopy after 50, adult vaccinations(pneumonia, hepatitis), cholesterol screening, hypertension screening etc. You can't do them yourself and they screen for costly illnesses that can be treated early. By not getting preventive care YOU will bedcome a drain on the system when you develop some expensive condition that could have been treated easily
early.

By not seeing a doctor regularly and getting preventative care, you'll end up costing the system extra money for a problem that could have been taken care of easily.

Not to mention that Tripey could be rather far along with a fatal disease before it makes itself evident to him...and cost not just money but his life.

Miner in WV figured he didn't need to worry his healthcare under Trump because he'd get a new mining job with benefits. The stupid burns.

In a place of need, an unhealthy contradiction

They are poor, sick and voted for Trump. What will happen to them without Obamacare?

Or that guy in Ohio who believed Trump about how he was going to "bring back" all those big very low tech circa 50's factories employing 1000's of very "blue collar" jobs that you needed no more than a HS diploma if that.

Here is the likely and quite ironic result though that that "red neck liberal" guy whose name escapes me at this time predicted on Bill Maher right after the election that being when all those Trumpeteers are fucked until they are bleeding, there is no wall, no return of "coal jobs" no new big circa 50's factories and every other "promise" Trump made has not been carried out or in most cases even attempted, really attempted that is not just some bullshit EO like he did with his wall the loyal Trumpsters will calim in is all the fault of "liberals" members of that scary sounding "deep state" that now Sean Hannity assures us exists.

I will never ever feel sorry for one of those poor bastards who voted for Trump and will now face either having no insurance or paying premiums they can't afford to insurance companies.
The GOP plan is about money -- money for the wealthy and money for insurance companies. Period. It has NOTHING to do with average-Joe getting better care.
And if you think preventive care is expensive, you should read the statistics on the costs of catastrophic illness set in because of the lack of preventive care.
Dumbasses will be dumbasses -- and damn if those who voted for Trump and the GOP over Obamacare are the dumbest people walking.

The ACA was an overwritten bill. You never give that kind of power to the IRS. Ever. It could have been tweaked to work seamlessly. My insurance company pays 30 grand a month to float Obamacare. It was considered one of those "Cadillac Plans." My rates went up slightly, More restrictions, higher prescription prices, and now I have a deductible. I like helping people and all, but this needed to be redone and reworked. Too bad we have self serving ideologues on both sides of the fence who can't see past their own asses to come to work with each other for the good of the people. The Dem's bill was overwritten and gave power to the wrong institutions, and the Republicans are all about fucking over anyone who is not a millionaire, including the peasant voters who are too stupid to know any better who put them in office. So in other words, don't expect either party to come up with a viable solution.

So in other words, don't expect either party to come up with a viable solution.

The viable solution is poison to a party that has been an open conspiracy against the poor (net worth under $10 million) for decades now and we know who that is. And that solution is Medicare for all. Every 10 years drop the eligibility by 10 years until everyone from birth is covered. Plenty of time for the profiteers to exit the business.

Moving on:

Let’s abandon the pretense.

Republicans’ “health care” bill is not really about health care. It’s not about improving access to health insurance, or reducing premiums, or making sure you get to keep your doctor if you like your doctor. And it’s certainly not about preventing people from dying in the streets.

Instead, it’s about hundreds of billions of dollars in tax cuts — tax cuts that will quietly pave the way for more, and far larger, tax cuts.

The American Health Care Act, which has been opposed by nearly every possible stakeholder of nearly every ideological orientation, is being rushed through Congress with non-extreme vetting. In fact, it passed out of one committee in the middle of the night, overseen by a committee chairman who just a day earlier criticized Obamacare for being “written in the dark of night.”

You will find every bill that comes out of a Republican Congress has some Orwellian-name that belies its true intent. And that intent is always to assist in funneling money from the poor up to the rich. 100% of the time. Every single one is a huge giveaway and the rubes can't figure out why year after year their situation is more dire. And wait for the inevitable attempt to kill Social Security, Medicaid and Medicare because "we're broke". Mark your calendars folks because it's coming.

But @b.c. he hates Wall Street. He's going to Washington up for the regular people, to drain the swamp, to shake things up. MercuryGirl told us so.

You could call this "breaking news" but to anyone who has been paying attention for the last 30 years know it isn't. As expected the GOP is sticking it to the worker class again. But what is important though is the tax breaks for the 1% rolled up in the bag of excrement.

Obamacare revision would reduce insured numbers by 24 million

House Speaker Paul D. Ryan’s proposal to revise the Affordable Care Act would lower the number of Americans with health insurance by 24 million while reducing the federal deficit by $337 billion by 2026, congressional budget analysts said Monday.

The report from the Congressional Budget Office underscores the dramatic loss in health insurance coverage that would take place if the GOP health-care plan is enacted, potentially contradicting President Trump’s vow that the plan would provide “insurance for everybody” and threatening support from moderate Republican lawmakers.

Fourteen million people would lose health coverage next year alone, the report stated. Premiums would be 15 to 20 percent higher in the first year compared to the ACA, and 10 percent lower on average after 2026. By and large, older Americans would pay “substantially” more and younger Americans less, the report states.

Tomorrow the Trumpsters will label the CBO findings as "alternative facts" and move forward anyway.
