Of course, we've all known about this story since 2010, but John Ensign finally resigned. You may recall the story: Senator gets busted and admits affair with staffer. The kicker was the staffer's husband also worked for him. Then it came out that the Senator's parents paid money to the staffer's husband... but it was a "gift". While there were no criminal charges, it all seemed a little too seedy and Ensign claimed he was resigning to prevent his family being dragged through the muck.

So I have two thoughts on this:

    • Really? Now, he's concerned about his family?

    • The deck chair seating rearrangement will begin shortly.

Read about it here on the BBC News Service or if you prefer a bit of slant, you can see what Fox News is saying about it over here.

Nevadans everywhere are relieved to be rid of this asshole. We have a great record of cleaning our political house of MAFIA and organized crime, which is now limited to petty larceny and illegal prostitution. Shelley Berkley will most likely win his seat in 2012. The twit they have just replaced him with is considered by the natives of Vegas as more or less a noxious weed that makes a bitter tea.

Uninformed jackasses who fall for the smoke and mirrors and lack the ability to properly weigh the substance vote for him.

It is likely bad karma but I am filled with glee when these do-gooder, traditional family values gas bags get deflated.

But you, myself and everyone else knows that no person on earth including a politician (or should I say especially in this case) can keep every promise they make. Whether it be due to political obstruction, grandstanding or some shady back door dealings, some things are bound to result in either a compromise or a complete 180 in stance. I seriously don't get how some people, regardless of their political affiliation, manage to forget this come election time then somehow are surprised when it's one of their issues on the cutting block.

    "But he promised!"
    "He didn't do it. He's a liar!"
    "He's a flip-flopper."

Granted, even I wish some of our elected officials were willing to be stronger on certain issues and not back down. We all do. At the same time, I'm willing to allow all the dust settle and see the end result. I never expect to get a perfect ten rating from any president, but as long as they somehow manage to keep things moving forward and progressively better for the lower & middle class then I'm usually fine with it. Ultimately, all of the issues come back full circle and we get another chance to make more corrections.

Ensign ran and won as Senator of Nevada on the "I'm better than you are" platform. You're all familiar how it goes, "I'm an evangelical christian. I believe in the sanctity of the family. I have a better head of hair than my opponent."

Now we have two serious problems to conquer. First, we need to ensure that Shelley Berkley, a nice jewish girl who moved to Nevada with her family when she was in Intermediate school, went to University in San Diego, became an attorney, served as legal consultant to several casinos in Vegas, and National Director of the Hotel and Motel Association, wins John Ensign's old seat. She knows loads about job creation, economics, and has served as a Democratic Rep in the Nevada House/Assembly for about 22 years.

Second, we need to find a replacement for Harry Reid. Harry has been a good work horse for Obama, but he's old and should probably be caught sleeping in public meetings than Joe Biden. Plus, he said the something very bad when he addressed the Nevada House and Senate. He suggested that it was time Nevada completely outlawed legal prostitution, "Removing the shackles from women throughout the Great Silver State!" No one applauded. We need to find someone to replace Reid who understands that counties which have agreed to support brothels and legal prostitution have hit a double header. First, paying for a blow-job or an around the world is not illegal and is heavily regulated by the State. It's not that Nevada has specific instructions on what is included in an Around-the-World, but sex workers are required to work three weeks and take one week off, not be seen wandering about the little towns where they work, and have over the top strict STD testing. If it were not for the strict STD testing all of the little Nevada towns that have brothels would not have the basic minimum health care facilities for the senior citizens and many poor folks who live in those towns. The State isn't paying for those Senior Citizen checkups; they are underwritten by the fees paid by brothels and sex workers. It's a win/win.

But Reid, a mormon, doesn't see it that way. Nor do any of the strange influx of evangelical christians who moved into Nevada during the housing boom during the late 1990s.

So, if ANYONE OUT THERE can think of a nice liberal Democrat who has loads of job creation experience, understands ranchers, the Bureau of Land Management, mining laws of of the USA, and believes that within every whore there is a heart of gold PLEASE LET US KNOW! Last election a very scary, very vacuous tea bag lady almost toppled poor Harry Reid. We're looking forward to getting rid of him, however, we even more interested in replacing him with someone who is as smart as Shelley Berkley, and I can attest from personal experience that Shelley Berkley is a smart and formable foe when it comes to tea bag crap and the "I'm better than you" crowd.

Again, please pass the word. Thanks a bunch.
