This from ABC News:

"The president-elect's chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, said today he wouldn't go to the Chicago presidential transition offices in order to avoid reporters trying to ask him whether he had contact with Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich about the Senate seat vacated by Barack Obama's election."

ABC News: Emanuel: I'm Getting Death Threats Over Blagojevich Scandal

Kinda soon for the chief of staff to the president elect to be scurrying around like a rodent to avoid the press, don't you think? Sounds like the honeymoon is over before it begins.

My gut feeling is that he was somehow involved, which would be neither 'unusual', nor necessarily 'illegal'. As to whether he acted nefariously or may have 'looked the other way' remains to be seen. If so, Wright and Ayers will pale in comparison. It wouldn't look too good to have your CoS stepping down before you take office, after all. While it may wind up being much ado about nothing, the silence/evasiveness is only tainting perception and stoking suspicion.

I think Emanuel is probably too savvy to have been caught up in Blagojevich's unethical behavior. However, I want and expect transparency from the executive office, so ducking reports is out of the question. If he wants to avoid the media crush and speculation, he should hold a press conference denying any wrongdoing, that is, if he can plausibly do so.

My guess is he's toast and Obama's people are just looking for the most graceful way to get him out with the least backlash. He's not going to the offices because Obama doesn't want him there, not to duck questions.

Jackass conservatives take note.
Rahm was the one who told Rod that the only thing Obama would offer is appreciation.

Rahm is also the guy who dropped the dime that got Rod's phones tapped.

He is avoiding the press because he is a material witness and is SUPPOSED to avoid the press so as not to prejudice the case. That is the RESPONSIBLE thing for any civic minded citizen to do...
And because the news interest in this as regards Obama is bullshit conservative "guilt by association" crap that is beneath contempt and unworthy of response.

The SAME guilt by association crap you twerps tried to foster over his minister, and his being on a charitable board with Ayers.

Oh, and BTW... the exact same guilt by association bullshit that LOST you dumb bastards the election.

Time for you conservatives to wise up...the electorate has.

Time for you to start thinking about playing the role of the LOYAL opposition, rather than the undermining opposition.

The crisis we face today is FAR more threatening than the Cave Pricks Bush bankrupted us over.

Time to sack up and act like a patriot. Support the new president until he DEMONSTRATES that he is not doing the job.

The attempts to undermine the new president BEFORE he even gets into office is a REPLAY of the republican strategy toward CLinton... and we all remember where that led... 40 million buck blowjob investigations...

We don't have the luxury of being able to afford these kind of partisan and purposeless distractions... there is more than enough work to do that needs the full attention of the nation.

This kind of conservative viciousness needs to stop, at least until the economy is out of danger.

So, conservatives and republicans... pretty please, KNOCK IT THE FUCK OFF.

Phil, the Bj accusations came well beyond the Whitewater investigations. Kenneth Star didn't have a case, so he manufactured one from existing evidence. The Impeachment was not about Whitewater, but it began that way, and ended in a tangent not supportable from its beginning.

It was a sham. All it did was to shame the Clinton administration, because the Republicans weren't getting blow jobs from a young infatuated intern.
