OK, so I started popping Zyban (Wellbutrin) on Monday to quit smoking and I'm getting the side effects........ A LOT of side effects.

And I love it!!

I slept four hours yesterday afternoon, haven't slept since, and I'm still not quite feeling it. There's a slight sense of mania, a noticeable elevation of anxiety (last night out on a smoke break I imagined all kinds of hideous monsters out in the dark and faces in the black windows . The trade off is the energy! I don't feel wired like caffeine-wired. This is different. It's like I have all the energy I had when I was younger. It's good because it helps motivate me to do things.

Horny isn't the word. My body is dripping testosterone, my cock springs at a thought, and I'm shooting big loads a few feet. FEET!! And not just once a day either .

The skinny thing works too. I'm not hungry at all. I have to remind myself to eat and, when I do, I'm not eating much. This is good too as it helps with the weight loss.

All in all I'm liking Wellbutrin. I don't know if it will do anything to stop smoking, but I'm going to enjoy the fun while it lasts.

It works differently for everybody. I took it for a while for depression and liked it but I had to return to Zoloft because of the excessive hand tremors.

I've been on a million of these drugs. They all work for a while, but then the side effects morph into something else.

I realized, after a while... that poison is poison. Sure, in small amounts, we don't die from it, and it offers some kind of mind altering effect, but no one is "absolutely 100% sure" how it works.... and that's not scary to anyone. LOL

In my (now jaded) opinion, it's no different than taking acid, or LSD. I've sworn off all drugs because of being over-medicated.

Good luck. I hope you have a good run with it. Enjoy it while you like it. My 'best run' lasted about 2 years.

I've taken Wellbutrin a couple times in the past... and I'm going to ask the doctor to put me back on it permantly. I lost a bit of weight, I cut WAAAAYYYY back on my smoking, and my cock was hard and drippy ALLL the time. My BF wanted to know what was going on...LOL ! And when I coudn't be with him, I was stroking constantly.... and it seemed to heighten the feeling of orgasm. I have pretty powerful orgasms already, and lots of them, but it seemeed that they were SOOOO much more intense. Being multiorgasmic, the dry orgasms were very potent, and when I went for that last squirting cum, I blew all over the place, and the feeling was REAL intense, almost to the point of passing out. With this stuff available, who needs Viagra...LOL !

Oh man, I got that mania feeling when I was on too high a dose of Effexor XR so cut the does because it also made me temperamental when the rush started to fade in the late afternoon - about the same time I picked my son up from day care. Didn't feel it was fair to either of us for me to be super bitch during dinner.

I can't take Wellbutrin due to potential side effects with a health condition I have. I'm currently taking two herbal supplements that seem to be just enough of a life to not need the meds.

My best friend has smoked for a very long time and has tried almost anything to stop. I remember while she was on Zyban she was in an awful mood!

She had become an angry, impatient and really unpleasant person. I don't know if this has happened to other people, I just couldn't believe how she had changed. She even realised that she was much less tolerant than before.

I wonder if this is common.

Jason, you should have told me and we could have tried it together. I have Chantix but haven't started it yet because I've heard from so many people that the side effects are horrific--and I really don't need any more psychoses. Maybe I'll give this a shot first. Btw, are we on for tomorrow?

I'm really turned off of drugs...sure they have their benefits, but there ALWAYS seems to be a downside later down the line...

I was on a drug for allergies & asthma for a while...this year it was made known that this particular drug was responsible for inducing suicidal thoughts...

luckily I had taken myself off of it quite a while ago, but I do recall constantly thinking about dying back when I was on it...and having crazy thoughts like "what would happen if I drove my car into that wall" and crap like that...

so the most I take now is a multivitamin and the occasional tylenol...making sure to drink lots of water when I do, to help avoid liver damage...

Excessive hand tremors could be a bonus if you experience all the sexual benefits listed by others.

This is a concern with me too. However, as I see it, hand tremors are better than smoking. I already get tremors when I consume anything more than one cup of tea.

Effexor, when I was on it, was amazing! I felt there was nothing I couldn't do, nothing was really that bad. Effexor just made me feel like I was the king of destiny.

What I did not like were the side effects. If I missed a dose, watch out! I became very emotionally unstable. I remember one night calling the doctor's office in tears, alternating between being thankful and being a screaming maniac. The withdrawal symptoms of Effexor are phenomenally bad even when you just miss one dose. I didn't like being dependent on Effexor either.

Effexor was, however, the only antidepressant that worked for me and I'd rather put up with the side effects than slide back into major depression. I'm a veteran of psych hospitals and long lists of psychologists and psychiatrists. Prozac made me one of the first statistics to appear that questioned if Prozac was well tolerated by everybody. It wasn't by me. Other SSRIs, MAOIs, and tricyclics didn't work either. Effexor's unique characteristic of being a serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor worked. It appears serotonin isn't my problem, norepinephrine is.

While I was on Effexor I believed I was a good, capable, positive, confident man. For someone with a history of low self-esteem, Effexor was the first time in my life that I felt like I believed I should. To call it seductive is an understatement.

Effexor can save lives but I think it should be prescribed only when other drugs have been tried and then carefully monitored by a qualified mental health professional. I also think the ramp-up and ramp-down periods should be longer and more incremental.

The nightmares and night terrors I had while on Chantix were pretty awful. Wellbutrin/Zyban seems to be OK though my imagination tends to the more frightening. By Monday I should have serum levels at full-strength so we'll see if this develops into anything worse. I'm an anxious person as it is so the last thing I need is a drug that exacerbates the condition.

Yup, we're on for tomorrow!

From the title I thought you were talking about ecstasy, because it's a drug that makes you skinny, happy and horny. LMAO! Thankfully it isn't what you're talking about.

dude, lay off the chemical compounds

start living right, and your physical body will respond

there are other ways to get the same results, that don't require creating a chemical imbalance

i pretty much had the "i don't wanna smoke anymore" epiphany naturally a few years ago. my brain just switched thinking naturally i guess. now the thought of smoking is depressing to me.

even though i'm definitely not an anti-pharmaceutical person, it is important to realize that the whole industry is just a business. many of these compounds have been invented many many years ago and were marketed for different diagnoses. when they want to make money all they have to do is market the same compound under a different name for a different treatment.

amphetamines are a perfect example of this; as well as norepinephrine-reuptake inhibitors such as wellbutrin; lol

When I was on Wellbutrin I had pretty much the same effects, but with out seeing things. Had so much energy I was always moving, lost appetite, and lost to much weight, was down to 130 lbs. Even at 5'7" that was too skinny. I could eat a chicken wing for dinner and be satisfied. And yes i did stop smoking.

I am concerned about the chemical imbalance thing. I've been through enough antidepressants to realize that they're not good for long-term use. I don't expect to stay on more than a month or two. I REALLY want to succeed this time around.

Hoo boy.....

The horny thing is interesting. I am constantly horny except for the hour or two after I've last jacked off. I'm precumming through underwear and have gone through 3 Fleshlight inserts (they need to dry) in under 24 hours. That doesn't count a few times when Fleshlights weren't involved at all.

The orgasms are just amazing. They're eyes rolling back in your head, they're too-sensitive-to-move, and if you DO move, HOLY HEAVEN ABOVE, it's nearly painful as I draw in a sharp breath and cry out while my muscles give way.

Oh and today I went without smoking a cigarette.
