Tim Wise

I didn't like the part where he slammed little Opie Taylor from the Andy Griffith Show. He's so precious.

Two can play that game, son... and I will always do it better.
Regardless of your references to statements of random equivalence between two terms, the fact still remains that money does not equal debt. They are not synonymous and using the words interchangeably is ignorant. The English dictionary does not take a second seat to ideological bigotry just because you want to be right about something. So I don't care if you believe that a dollar bill is an IOU. You can believe in unicorns as well. That doesn't change the basic definition of two blatantly obvious words. If you tried this shit on an episode of "Millionaire", you'd be sent home with the box of Rice-A-Roni already.

Now, stop talking out of your credo-infested ass and refer to an actual fact once in a while.

At least you've never let a lack of intelliegence get in the way of forming a strong opinion. That's a sort of admirable quality I suppose.

You need to ask yourself, "where does money come from?" The answer: the banks, they don't hand it out for free they loan it at interest. The money that is credited to somebody's acount when they take out a loan is backed up by the equivalent anount of debt, they then spend it - lets say on some bread making equipment - and set about earning that money back from the real economy to settle up with the bank. When debt is payed down like this the money supply shrinks a little.

All money is debt, get over it big boy.

I don't attribute so specifically racist a sense to the catchphrase "take our country back," but the phrase is very sinister.
QUOTE]

I appreciate your view but living in the South I see the validity of the claim !
What many people do not know is that kids in the south are groomed to be racist, I was, but something never felt right about it to me so I find it absurd.
Sadly I have to admit 75% of my family is racist but 0% of my friends are, I have to tolerate it within my family but I will NOT tolerate it in friendships !
I went to one of the local teabag rallies and I live in a 70% Communist District and the level of hate and racism, NOT for the power of the GOVT but for OBAMA I saw at the rally deeply saddened me and I was literally sick to my stomach !

I guess all of this banter is the 2010 reinvention of the rhetorical phrase, "time is money" working in reverse? YAWN.

The creators of the English language would like to meet with you and put a muzzle on your mouth. You can dream up all of the analogies you want, it still doesn't change the most basic of facts. If you can't grasp that, then trying to sound "intelligent" with detailed explanations makes you look stupid. Not even the experts you want to source would come out and blindly say "money is debt". Only fools like you and that other mess of a ideological dimwit would. And I'm grown tired of watching you both repeat the same nonsense like a troll with a neo-con strain of Tourettes. This isn't like an election campaign where the more you say something the more it becomes fact. You're never going to get me to conclude on the same result so stop arguing it with me. On top of that, it's off topic. I don't mind my threads veering on other tangents every so often, but this is getting ridiculous.

You should try living here, it's the total opposite yet things are no better. For years liberals have effectively shut down freedom of speech and critical enquiry by labelling anyone that disagrees with their mass immigration multi-culturalist ways as "racist". It's like being brainwashed, you can't even go to a football match without being told what to think/say with campaigns like "kick racism out of football". It sounds like a reasonable aim but these campaigners are actually supporting the limitation of ideas, in other words they're reducing net freedom by trying to control how people express themselves. It's no coincidence that George Orwell highlighted this totalitarian tendency in his book 1984, once the language has been successfully manipulated dissidents are left utterly defenseless.

I thought something was up for ages but everyone else seemed happy enough to go along with it, now though the entire left wing edifice is crumbling -the EU, the Euro, the welfare state, the state- and those of a more libertarian persuasion have finally found their voice. Thank God.

The bottom line for me is freedom of expression, I don't think people should be forced to conform with the majority whatever the mainstream happens to believe.

fact light conjecture

Money is debt, debt is money. If I write down on a piece of paper "I owe VinylBoy 5 botles of vodka" you could go and exchange that with somebody else for goods and services. It continues to get passed around until somebody decides that they actually want that vodka, they hand it back to me - I tear it up - and they get their vodka. The debt and the money have been extinguished simultaneously.

That's how the banking system works, but there's no vodka. Just promises and promises.

You should be grateful, it's taken me ages to work this stuff out and I'm handing you a concise monetary education for free. Show a bit of respect

You can shut the fuck up now, Spectator. Your analogies have become so laughable that they're not even worth debating.

Can you explain why or are we meant to guess?

I don't know why you're so angry over this, it's clear you've not given it much consideration.

I'm not angry. It's just obvious that we disagree and you've now reduced your argument to just a blinding ideology that you shove in people's faces which has lead to countless posts of irrelevance and just like Dieter on an episode of Sprockets would say, "your story has become tiresome."

Eventually ALL facts (not just the ones you support for your theories) have to come into play in any argument, however for the sake of trying to appear knowledgable you ignore the most obvious ones. I can understand how people can say money is like a form of debt. The analogies you've drawn clearly demonstrate this. However, that's much different than saying that it is. Yet, even after showing you the most basic of elementary level facts, giving you the English definition of money and showing how the two words you draw similarities with are not exact, you still act as if somehow I'm missing the point... that somehow, you have this unmeasurable wisdom about money that escapes everyone and it's up to you to force everyone to see & speak its concept the way that you do. That's ridiculous.

Speaking metaphorically is much different from speaking from an angle of actuality and you should learn the differences between the two if we're ever going to engage in a discussion or debate again. You don't know anymore about money than the next person around here so stop being so intellectually dishonest.

Speculator, I don't get it. Is this guy Vinylboy for real? He has all the facts in front of him, and that Jefferson quote he supplied is on point, in fact I wish I had found it first... How can he not take all these pieces of information and understand the whole?

Seriously,if I wanted to be gangbanged into some kind of submission, boys, I certainly wouldn't make it over a discussion as ridiculous as this. It would also be with people like Ramon Ragazzi & Colton Ford as well, but that's a different story.

Beliefs and quotes are not facts. They support a theory which can be used as a point of reference towards an actual fact. But not all theories are 100% factual. "Money is debt" is not a fact. The dictionary proves this. Funny how you and Tweedle-Dimwit over there won't accept that simple fact yet talk about my inability to put together yours.

Dude grow up. You are a leftist fanboy which is no better or worse than a righty fanboy. The dems suck the Reps suck. They all suck major monkey balls. I would rather this country be governed by the people on this board than the jackasses we get to vote for.

How many more freaking laws do we need passed? I say call people for duty similar to jury duty one term only. Life in prison for any bribery no pensions. Serve two years and go back home to the real world.

WR

Really? You think the movement is "growing" when the majority of candidates that were Teapublicans actually lost last night? Are we talking ideologically or reality here because the numbers don't add up?

After the campaigns & rhetoric ran by several Teapublicans which harbored such extreme views that went against the rights of women and minorities, saying that the left thrives on hate is ridiculous. Keep in mind, Harry Reid won his seat back in Nevada even though his approval rating at one point was under 30% in a state with the highest unemployment in the country. Just how hateful (and pathetic) the opposition would have to be in order to lose under those circumstances?

First off, who the f*** are you?
Secondly, if you actually knew me or have read posts of mine on this board, you'd know that I've been critical of people and politicians regardless of their political affiliations. I've given Progressives, Independents, Libertarians, Conservatives and Teahadists (yeah I call them that and so what?) hell on this board for saying ridiculous stuff. Alas, you were quick to assume that I was a "leftist fanboy" just off of one post you happen to glance at. Do yourself a favor... when you're through trying to act all high and mighty with this phony Independent nonsense, why don't you read the first three letters in the word assume and keep it to memory? Because that's exactly what you are.

Thirdly, again... who the f*** are you?

I suspect many of their positions were ridiculous only in that you chose to ridicule them. From what I've seen, you just like to argue with everybody and attempt to goad others into getting angry with you on the internet. In a way it is good that your energies are expended here, lest you cause trouble in the real world for want of something productive to do... You just keep on at it Vinylboy. I'm happy to chat with you here so your neighbors don't have to deal with you there.

I know this is gonna start some trouble around here...
But after the midterm elections, I think it's something that should be read by all and addressed. Tim Wise rustles up the masses again and doesn't hold back one bit.

Remember now... I didn't write this. You have grievance with what is said in this poem? Take it up with the creator and not me. That is my one and only warning.

Tim Wise

As a "redneck" Southern man I have to say I agree with you. "Temper tantrum" pretty much sums it up.

Trust me, I'm not the only one who thinks a lot of the stuff said around here is a bunch of ridiculous bullshit. I'm just one of the few who are vocal about it.

From what I've seen, you just like to argue with everybody and attempt to goad others into getting angry with you on the internet.

LOL... still mistaking zeal with anger I see. I can't help you there.

In a way it is good that your energies are expended here, lest you cause trouble in the real world for want of something productive to do.

Like I said before, I need something to do while my media files are rendering. As for something "productive", let's just say that my productivity is about to lead me to another trip to Brazil for a week. Second one in three months. So please, let's not imply that I spend all of my time on this board and do nothing else. It ain't my fault that my line of work allows me to do things and be on this board refuting the drama at the same time. Perhaps you need to make a better career choice that isn't all about money, but one that also embraces the idea of flexible time?

You just keep on at it Vinylboy.

Always.

I'm happy to chat with you here so your neighbors don't have to deal with you there.

In New York? I happen to be in an area where the mass majority of people are pretty much on the same page. And they all like "dealing with me". Please don't think you're doing them a public service. Considering your stance on political issues, I can sense that you're not that charitable.

Look dude, I don't mind zeal, it wouldn't be a good debate if everybody was a wet blanket, but the ad homenim attacks are rude, pointless, and uncalled for. and bringing a dictionary to a discussion has never worked. We aren't making life and death decisions here, we're just shooting the shit. Obviously we don't have to agree, but neither do we have to be partisan shills. Isn't it the purpose of this website to prove who is the "bigger man"? Also, Brazil is cool, even if they do choose to elect marxist guerillas. (hey common ground already)

It goes on with everyone, direct and indirect, and I've seen you do it as well. Stop the hypocrisy.

and bringing a dictionary to a discussion has never worked.

Only to those that don't understand or even care about the language that they speak.

Hell, I have people in other threads inventing terms like "Obamaism" just to try and have a fruitless point. Some level of debatable decorum needs to be established or else we'd all be like Palin and trying to "refudiate" everything.

We aren't making life and death decisions here, we're just shooting the shit. Obviously we don't have to agree, but neither do we have to be partisan shills. Isn't it the purpose of this website to prove who is the "bigger man"?

No... we already know who the bigger men are on this board and they're represented by their prospective cock pics. But I digress, of course. In a politics discussion I would rather like to see two opposing sides come together with some kind of middle ground. Too many people just want to push their one or two mindless points into people's faces and then make a major decision based on it.

Also, Brazil is cool, even if they do choose to elect marxist guerillas. (hey common ground already)

The people are beautiful and friendly, the food is absolutely amazing, the weather is great and they have awesome clubs that play techno all night long. And considering our nation elected George W. Bush and almost put Sharron Angle in congress, I wouldn't be belittling someone else's government.
