Not true. the term "str8 acting" means that you DON'T act feminine. I have no issue with feminie acting guys or "Str8 acting" guys....but there IS a difference. I've met guys as friends who later told me they were gay and I was shocked. Sexual preference isn't always tied to lifestyle preference.

*sigh* This is one of the dumbest things about I see occur amongst gay/bisexual guys. First, there is no such thing as "straight-acting", you are likely some degree of masculine than androgynous or feminine.

Personally, if that is a deal breaker then I wouldn't even waste me time being friends or associated with such shallow individuals. Like another poster said, people have lost the art of connecting with one another on a personal level in-person. It seems the internet has fed into this shallow complex that so many have these days to the point of destructiveness.

The term 'str8 acting' and 'masculine' for that matter often mean that the guys using THINK they don't act feminine, but experience shows that how people describe their own behaviour, and how it actually comes across can be two different things entirely.

This is basically the main problem I have with these terms; they are value judgements and, as such, incredibly subjective. It's like when you see on people's profiles things like 'Very good looking' and I always think 'Hmmm...that makes you sound vain, and I want to decide if you're good looking or not'.

Obviously, with something like masculinity, you can't tell that from photos, but, again, it's not something that needs to be stated as I can see for myself in real life. And as I referred to in my first paragraph, I have met up with guys who described themselves as 'str8 acting'/'masculine', who, to me, weren't at all. That's why I think we should just drop these labels altogther

Yes, I agree. I like my men to be men and my women to be women...there;s nothing wrong with feminine men. They just don't do anything for me. The same with masculine females, not my thing.

If you're bisexual, as in mostly straight, then you might be straight acting. However its the guys who only sleep with guys, that are in reality the biggest gay acting guys of all, who are the ones to post for masculine for masculine. There are even postings on here claiming how noone knew they were gay when even a deaf, dumb and blind person could spot them a mile away. If you're a gay man who claims to be straight acting in your personal ads you're only fooling yourself since 4 out of 5 of you are total flame full on.

It's just obnoxious for a gay man to be such a prick by being homophobic.

Watch this documentary....
its 40 minutes of exactly this topic.

The Butch Factor | Video Clips, Watch Full Episodes Online

Thank you. If its the doc I think it is its the prime example since the gayest guy on it is the one who claims the loudest how straight acting he is.

Gay guys who are straight acting don't go around wearing it as a badge of honor and probably don't think they're straight acting at all.
