It's pretty hard keeping track of the almost daily breathtaking revelations out of Washington that is the Trump presidency with most of the stories running under the national radar. And most not getting a thread and maybe they shouldn't. At the same time it shouldn't go undocumented how Trump his defiance of norms and his refusal to operate in a way that benefits the people and not his business and to say nothing of the sheer incompetence of the White House and White House staff.

The U.S. Secret Service requested $60 million in additional funding for the next year, offering the most precise estimate yet of the escalating costs for travel and protection resulting from the unusually complicated lifestyle of the Trump family, according to internal agency documents reviewed by The Washington Post.

Secret Service asked for $60 million extra for Trump-era travel and protection, documents show

For the eighth weekend in a row, President Trump has visited a property that bears his name. He has done so on 21 of the 66 days he has been in office, meaning that for the equivalent of three full weeks of his just-over-nine weeks as commander in chief, he has spent all or part of a day at a Trump property

Nearly 1 out of every 3 days he has been president, Trump has visited a Trump property

Trump taps his son-in-law, a guy with no government experience is going to lead a bunch of people with no government experience and "fix" something that they have no experience in running. Should go very well!!

Government is not a business and treating it like it is is doomed to fail. The public sector and the private sector are separate for a reason. Jared Kushner’s project is doomed

This is on top of Trump giving his daughter an office in the White House.

It won't be long before the entire Trump family are government employees and the Trump sign goes up over the White House.

We have seen this movie before.

Anyone who has been around a while will remember "re-inventing government" back when AL Gore was VP. Headed by him and he had had extensive experience in Government and the staffers were all drawn from the various departments, most long time civil servants.

The biggest thing that came out of all of that was the greater use of "COTS" IE Commercial Off The Shelf items. The idea being that if you need something rather that going the long convulted process of getting a HP lazer printer or what ever via GSA just go on down to the local Circuit City or Best Buy and pick one up and have it within hours not weeks or even months. Now to make this even quicker and even easier they invented "Government purchase cards" which were nothing more than Credit cards, Visa, Master card or what ever, it started that an office or in the military and command had like one and it was held by the "supply department" who ever would have "ordered" that thing via GSA If you wanted to go to Lowes and buy a Shop Vac you had to go to Lowes and find what you wanted, take down the "item number/SKU" that it's price, go back and fill out a form requesting to buy it and how much it would cost and if approved you would go and get the card issued to you so you could then go buy that item AND ONLY THAT ITEM and when you return turn in the card along with the receipt showing you bought what you said you were going to buy and how much it cost and that you did infact buy nothing else.

Well that evolved from one person having a card to 10 or 20 and more often that not no one really checking the bills so if you bought 2 Shop Vacs and kept one for your self or just "took one home" a month or 2 after you were sure "no one noticed" which lead to guys buying what ever tool for themselves or the materials for that new deck which lead to using them to buy trips to Vegas and spend thousands at strip clubs while you were there.

Will Jared and Ivanka ever actually do anything?

I think we all know the answer to that is NO.

I'm pretty sure nothing Trump gets away with in the White House can surprise me anymore.

I said it before he was even president to think George W. Bush and Trump is headed towards Bush's final 22% approval rating in record time with a nice boost from a Republican Congress. Can he break it?

Trump’s approval hits a new low of 36 percent — but that’s not the bad news

A drop of nine points among independents, though, is a loss of more than one-fifth of Trump’s support from that group over the last two months. That’s a brutal decline that may start to make Republicans nervous about how he could affect their electoral prospects over the long-term. Among those who identify as independents ideologically (as opposed to their partisan identification), the drop was 11 points, a loss of nearly a third of all support from that group since Jan. 20.

I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody and wouldn't lose voters.

'Kushner has been tapped to run an entirely new office with the “sweeping authority to overhaul the federal bureaucracy and fulfill key campaign promises ― such as reforming care for veterans and fighting opioid addiction.”'

Trump: If Jared Kushner can’t broker Middle East peace, nobody can (JTA)

So, what exactly does Don-don do?

He just swoops in and brands it "Trump" and if it fails it's someone else's fault.

The fate of the planet is further sealed.

WASHINGTON — President Trump, flanked by company executives and miners, signed a long-promised executive order on Tuesday to nullify President Barack Obama’s climate change efforts and revive the coal industry, effectively ceding American leadership in the international campaign to curb the dangerous heating of the planet.

Mr. Trump made clear that the United States had no intention of meeting the commitments that his predecessor had made to curb planet-warming carbon dioxide pollution, turning denials of climate change into national policy.

What was going to be a miss anyway is now going to be a chasm. The good news is all those red states that don't believe it will be the hardest hit.

As the U.S. rejects science the rest of the real world moves on without it. Losing that leadership will prove very costly down the road.

China wants to take over the role of the U.S. as a climate leader, and they’ve baked it into their five-year plans,” she added, referring to the economic development blueprints drawn up by the Chinese government.

China Poised to Take Lead on Climate After Trump’s Move to Undo Policies

    Addendum:

America’s decline isn’t unprecedented, Tyson said. Just look back 1,000 years ago at the Middle East, where math and science flourished in Baghdad. Algebra and algorithms were invented in the Middle East. So were Arabic numerals — the numbers we still use today.

U.S. science illiteracy a serious threat

You want to believe that this isn't true. Sadly, I can't convince myself this statement is utterly false.

Like a good authoritarian surrounded by family and close "loyal to me" friends only.......

The announcement on Wednesday amounts to the formal recognition of the value Mr. Trump places on the judgment and loyalty of both his daughter and his son-in-law. While relying on family members for advice is hardly unusual for a president, giving them a formal role has few precedents.

That and his repeated trips to his golf course on the public's dime (because of all that extra travel and SS protection). Remember when conservatives and their pundits raised holy hell over Obama's golfing? They're all quiet as fkng CHURCH-MICE now, eh?
